Asheville’s downtown

hen visitors (and locals for that matter) start looking for ways to describe Asheville, they use words like eclectic, creative, edgy, and artsy. And then there's different or weird. A good weird. Friendly weird.

Of any place in the city, Asheville's downtown seems to embody any and all of those descriptions. Over the last 15-20 years the downtown area has evolved from a virtual ghost town to a vibrant, happening cultural center filled with events, art galleries, hotels, and bars. It's the home to a nationally recognized culinary scene. It's also the place many Asheville residents call home. You can choose from a number of different condos and apartments located all around the downtown area. When it comes to events, take your pick from among a wide ranging list. We've gathered some photos from a number of different activities and some general shots of the historic buildings that make up downtown. It should give you some sense of the area. If you want to learn more , the easiest thing to do is search the web for "Asheville downtown". That should keep you busy for a while. (more on the next 3 pages)
