Faustina Alvarado (far right), UNM Employee of the Year, with Roger Wrolstad and Laura Montoya

My History by Faustina Alvarado y name is Faustina Alvarado. I am from El Salvador. I work at UNM from 1991 - 2016. My boss Mr. Roger Wrolstad wrote a testimony about my job and he nominated me for the employee of the year award. The celebration was on December, 7, 2007 at 11:30am. I give thanks to God for Mr. Roger Wrolstad and Laura Montoya thinking of and nominating me. They surprised me when they told me. I won the employee of the year award and $500.00.

Our Dream: A Food Trailer

Trujillo Story of Santa Fe

by Martha Enriquez y husband and I have a dream, to work in our own food trailer, but we are not yet ready. We have the food trailer and the appliances. The next step is to install everything but it is not easy because the city sets the rules. It depends on the type of food and then it needs to be inspected. I am excited and sometimes I am fearful because this is new to

me. I have worked for more than 10 years in a restaurant and my responsibilities have been only prep and cooking. With this business, I have to do everything: cashier, take orders, answer the phone, (so I need to be ready with my English!) and cook. I need to not be ashamed (of my English) because it is necessary to talk with very many people.

by W. T. y tutor and I took the train ride to Santa Fe. We walked to the plaze and looked at jewelry. We had lunch. I had mushroom soup and cheesecake. We went to the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts. I saw lots of pictures. There were two boys in the Museum. They liked my white beard. They said I looked like a Medicine Man. That made me feel like somebody. When I walked in the Loretto Chapel. I looked around, so pretty that stairway! I, also, went to the San Miguel Chapel. It was the oldest Church in the United States. I really enjoyed the day.

My Trip by Hoa Pham esterday morning, we drove to the International Folk Art Market. We parked by the South Capitol. Then we took the bus to go to the museums. I saw a couple of tall people. They are dancers. The first time they danced by themselves, then they hugged together, they lay down on the floor, they stood up, and then went around to shake everybody’s hand. Everybody clapped and laughed.
