GLOBAL FARM 2.0 The pavilion of the agronomers presented at Expo Milan developed from a concept defined by Architect Enzo Eusebi; he also supervised the artistic direction for WAA (World Association of Agronomers) and CONAF (Council of the National Order of Doctors of Agronomy and Doctors of Forestry). The objective of the Global Farm 2.0 is to overcome a purely esthetic dimension and to present completely new methods and production and organizational logics “Architecture must be restored to shape and function. I will continue fighting until man returns to the basic values: budget, beauty, ethics and time. How many buildings nowadays lie within a paradigm of these values? I demanded that the pavilion was not positioned on cement. I did not want to build on a slab of concrete measuring 1.5 km for a depth of 1 meter; I preferred the earth. I developed a sort of equation using the Grasshopper algorithm; it is like a software program that contains my story and everything that I love; the algorithm selects the shape that corresponds best to the time factor and the budget.” This is how Architect Enzo Eusebi presented his project for the Global Farm 2.0, the pavilion that gives an overview on the work of the agronomers. In every country, this professional figure channels his expertise into food production

methods that are safe and sustainable, through research, experimentation and the genetic improvement of plant and animal species. The designer of the pavilion Enzo Eusebi (NOTHING STUDIO) envisaged an esthetic model that would express the meaning of a new type of building, the definition of a global territory to bridge the city and the countryside (a place that is neither urban nor rural). The algorithms of Grasshopper for generative architecture have been used to define the parameters to manage the various types of agricultural-forestrygrazing territories and the continental farms. The Global Farm pavilion was created using 65 cu.m. of Italian wood

– guaranteeing a reduction in pollutant gas emissions; the timber was sourced in the mountain forests of Asiago, in the spruce woodland of Trentino and from the natural cork producers in Sardinia. The pavilion will be disassembled after the closure of Expo 2015 to become an itinerant exhibition. The event will be supported by a Foundation that will continue the initiatives and the reflections on food even after the Universal Exposition has drawn to a close.
