Il progetto si sviluppa, oltre che come ristorante, anche come osteria, pizzeria, gelateria e punto vendita.

The project is developed, besides being a restaurant, also as a tavern, a pizzeria, an ice cream shop and a sales point.

Cucina Torcicoda, una nuova proposta nell’ambito della ristorazione fiorentina, un concept innovativo curato dallo studio d’architettura e interior design Luigi Fragola Architects.

Torcicoda cuisine, a new offer within Florentine dining, an innovative concept curated by architecture and interior design studio Luigi Fragola Architects.

Il percorso ellittico di via Torta, che si snoda nel cuore della città di Firenze tra via Verdi, via dell’Anguillara, Borgo de’ Greci e piazza Peruzzi per concludersi all’inizio di via de’ Benci, delinea l’area dove sorgeva l’Anfiteatro Romano nella Firenze tra il 124 e il 130 d.C. In una strada dall’andamento curvilineo, un tempo battezzata come via Torcicoda si sviluppa il progetto che dà vita a cinque diversi locali per oltre 1000 mq, ognuno con una propria vocazione e atmosfera: il ristorante, l’osteria, la pizzeria, lo store dei prodotti tipici, la gelateria. “Sin da subito ci è stata chiara la necessità di coniugare le differenti funzioni attraverso un articolato ventaglio di possibili percorsi che stimolasse la curiosità del visitatore: un unico luogo all’interno del quale è possibile scoprire e usufruire di cinque differenti locali. Fragola autore del progetto. “L’obiettivo primario era quello infatti di emozionare, incuriosire, invogliare le persone ad addentrarsi, a scoprire da sole i diversi ambienti presenti, suggerendo i percorsi, mai indicandoli esplicitamente. In questo modo si era certi di offrire un’esperienza unica che desse un valore aggiunto alla mera funzione ristorativa”. Il ristorante è caratterizzato da toni caldi e avvolgenti delle finiture, dalla ricchezza dei tessuti e dei materiali, dalla ricercatezza dei dettagli. La classicità della storica architettura fiorentina si mescola al design contemporaneo degli arredi dando vita a un perfetto equilibrio tra passato e presente. Le sale si articolano fluidamente accomunate da un sapiente gioco di luci che valorizza le diverse caratteristiche planimetriche di ciascun ambiente (volte a crociera, a botte

e controsoffitto con formelle a rilievo) offrendo la medesima atmosfera rilassata ed elegante che contraddistingue il ristorante dagli altri ambienti. Attorno alle sale si affaccia una corte interna che arricchisce con le sue piante l’intera atmosfera. Dal ristorante si può accedere all’osteria passando da un affaccio sulla cucina, dal quale si vede l’enorme griglia e tutto il rituale del taglio della carne che viene fatto sul posto.

L’osteria è un ambiente confortevole e conviviale, arricchito da estrosi decori murari ed eleganti illuminazioni. L’atmosfera è resa ancora più intrigante dalla presenza di un grande lucernario che, durante le ore diurne, diffonde la luce naturale e ridisegna l’ambiente rievocando gli storici passage parigini.

Dall’osteria è possibile scendere al piano inferiore dove si sviluppa un’altra area del ristorante,

caratterizzata dall’esposizione dei numerosi vini che fanno parte della cantina del Torcicoda. I toni caldi della pavimentazione si mescolano agli arredi e all’illuminazione in stile industriale dando vita ad un’atmosfera moderna e dal sapore internazionale.

Qui si affaccia l’elegante privè, un vero e proprio salotto dove poter cenare o sostare dopo cena, in un clima intimo e confortevole, impreziosito dalla presenza di un vivace camino che fa sentire i proprio ospiti come a casa.

La pizzeria, infine, caratterizzata da soffitti voltati, decori murari e arredi dal design pulito e moderno, è un ambiente che ripropone in chiave contemporanea la storica pizzeria italiana, dove familiarità e qualità sono di casa, mentre lo store di prodotti enogastronomici accoglie il cliente con la ricchezza delle tradizioni e dei prodotti toscani.

The elliptical path in Torta Street, which winds at the heart of Florence city, between Verdi Street, dell’Anguillara street, Borgo de’ Greci and Peruzzi Square and finishes at the beginning of de’ Benci Street, outlines the area were Roman amphitheatre used to rise in Florence between 124 and 130 a.C. In a road with a curved shape, once known as Torcicoda Street, it has been developed the project that gives birth to five different facilities for over 1000 square meters, each one with it’s own purpose and mood: the restaurant, the tavern, the pizzeria, the typical products store, the ice cream shop.

“Right from the start we were clear about the need to combine the different functions through a detailed

contemporary design of furniture creating a perfect balance between past and present. The rooms are fluidly spread and they all share a clever play of light that enhances the different plan features of every environment (cross-shaped vaults, barrel vaults and false ceiling with protruding tiles), offering the same relaxed and elegant atmosphere that distinguishes the restaurant from the other environments. Around the rooms there’s an inner courtyard that enhances the whole atmosphere with its plants. From the restaurant, the tavern can be reached through a passage that overlooks the kitchen, showing the huge grid and the whole ritual of cutting the meat which is done on the spot.

The tavern is a comfortable and convivial environment, enhanced by original wall decorations and elegant lighting. The atmosphere is made even more intriguing by a large skylight that, in daylight hours, diffuses the natural light and reshapes the environment recalling

the historic Parisian passages.

From the tavern it is possible to access the lower floor where there’s another area of the restaurant, characterized by the exhibition of many wines that are part of Torcicoda’s cellar. The warm tones of the flooring mix with the furniture and lighting with an industrial style creating an atmosphere which is modern and has an international flavour.

Here it’s located the elegant private room, an actual living room where you can dine or stay after dinner, in an intimate and comfortable mood, enhanced by a bright fireplace which makes the guests feel at home.

Lastly, the pizzeria, characterized by vaulted ceilings, wall decorations and the clean and modern design of the furniture, is an environment that reproposes in a contemporary-key the historical Italian pizzeria with its typical familiarity and quality, while the store of wine and food products welcomes the client with the richness of traditions and Tuscan products.

The author of the project Luigi Fragola tells us. “The primary objective was to excite, intrigue, encourage people to examine, discover the different environments on their own, suggesting the paths, never pointing them out explicitly. In this manner we were sure to offer a unique experience which gave an added value to the mere dining function”.

The restaurant is characterized by the warm and charming tones of the finishes, the richness of fabrics and materials, the refined details. The classicism of the historical Florentine architecture mixes with the
