Living in Abundance | By Dana Keegan
If you’ve read any “self-improvement’ literature, you’ve no doubt come across the concept of “abundant thinking”. It’s a mindset that frees us from fear and anxieties, but also a big reason why we overcome in life. It’s not something that’s tangible or even scientific in nature, but for those who commit to the mindset; it’s the difference between leading an ordinary life and an extraordinary one.
Last month, during the CRS week of free training, which by the way was so great, I watched a webinar given by Leigh Brown and her ending comment struck a chord with me because it is undeniably true. She concluded her talk with “friends, real estate is a profession of abundance.” Now, picture in your mind Leigh sharing this nugget with the most delicious southern dialect you’ve heard and let that sink in for a moment. How AMAZING is that phrase? Doesn’t is resonate with you? I am so grateful to work in an industry that creates wealth, stability and opportunity. The most important skill you can have as a professional (in any profession) is a mindset of abundance. It’s a skill that won’t cost you a dime to acquire but will pay dividends in spades.

Imagine if every single person practiced a mindset of abundance? This way of thinking was the operating norm and not the exception. The levels of generosity, kindness and cooperation would skyrocket overnight. Professionalism in our marketplace would experience an immediate shift for the better. Can you picture what the world would like if not one single person would be consumed by the fear there isn’t enough to go around? Toilet paper would appear overnight on the shelves, the anxiousness of not getting that listing appointment would be replaced with the firm belief that you’ve got the next one and your overall experiences at every level would be more enjoyable. When you move from a scarcity mindset to a mindset of abundance, your entire world can change overnight.
As we enter the “month of gratitude”, explore the possibilities of letting go of assumptions and past beliefs. A new year is almost here and it’s a perfect time to reclaim your thinking patterns. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to roll with the unexpected and to find joy in the now. To borrow a classic phrase from the Dale Schaechterle vault, “stinking thinking leads to nowhere fast” and honestly, it’s your biggest competitor. We live colorful lives, so our thought processes can’t be black and white. Abundance is found between your ears, not your wallet. When you feel your mind moving to the dark side, remember “inhale gratitude, exhale abundance.”
Abundantly Yours,
