In loving memory of Deb Paul
I completed my NQT year at Holyhead 2013-14. Deb was always so welcoming, The teacher no one wanted to supportive and understanding and mess with but she was a real always went the extra mile to help you. softie at heart. Very sad hearing about Mrs Paul passing, I remember Mrs Paul looking out for me and helping me as much as possible and with all these years passing she still has a resounding effect on who I am today. Such an incredible person, condolences to her family. Zakariye Sahid
Mrs Paul was a rock for Holyhead School. She was a strong and very firm member of staff. I only have the f ondest memory of her trying to tell me off to gently hitting a year 9 boy for being cheeky - this was when I was deputy head boy - Mrs Paul tried to tell me off but couldn’t help but grin at the same time. What an amazing person she was. I was class of 1996-2001 and there was endless times I used to get in trouble and fighting consistently. Ms Paul once she sat me down and told me straight to sort myself out or life will be a misery. Exactly what I needed to hear as I walked away from school passing GCSE and continuing my education and obtaining a 1st class hons. What can I say about ms Paul that anyone else hasn’t said? I can say she was a fantastic woman, she believed in me, she understood and believed in human values. I remember the first time met her. I was getting close in joining Holyhead. She came to my primary school when I was in year 6 and she is the reason why I went to Holyhead in the first place. She was so kind and gentle and explained everything to me. After joining Holyhead, she still always maintained that connection with me, just to see how I was doing. I will never forget that day. Mrs Paul was at my first year & second year at Holyhead. There were a lot of characters in my old classes and I remember her standing outside on her lunchtime duty in the cold weather and having a sociable chat with us Year 7s and then coming in next period and taking naughty students in my classroom to Heads of College. I also remember her doing my Year 8 options assembly. If she was still here she would’ve probably not remembered me but she was absolutely a lovely person. She was always so warm, kind and polite she would answer any student’s question and it was evident she wanted to help the pupils who attended Holyhead. She was a fair but firm teacher she didn’t suffer fools glady but you always knew exactly where you were with her I am so upset to hear that she’s passed away and send my sincerest condolences to Mrs Paul’s family. Oh mrs Paul I still remember the time you always gave me detentions and il always never turn up and you’ll always catch me out. You was an amazing soul and you will be missed ever so much. Some people you meet for a reason, season or a lifetime. You Ms Paul I met you for reason, only knew you for a season but the support & life lessons you’ve gave me will truly be with me for a lifetime! Rest in eternal peace - From your favourite pain in the booty x Chardell Grant I’m deeply saddened recieving this news, Mrs Paul was one of the only teachers I can say I truly appreciated. She went beyond her means to ensure my mental health was okay after personal family issues I went through as a teenager. She gave me advice and therapy when others looked away, I have and will never forgot her. May we all carry the same kindness and empathy she carried to each person she crossed. I will never forget Deb’s kindness, courage and dedication as a teacher. She was an inspirational school leader who I learnt so much from when working at Holyhead. Some of my favourite memories include her coming to cover a lesson for me so that I could go home one day when I had a horrific migraine- she even offered to arrange a lift for me- even though she probably had a million other things to do. I also have fond memories of her at Christmas parties, getting to know everyone and having a good laugh. I will remember her often; I will try to be as kind to students and trainee teachers as she was to me. With love and sympathy to her family, friends and all of the Holyhead community. X Georgina Drew
Devastated to hear the news of the passing of one of the most inspirational teachers and leaders I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Deb was funny, kind, and, above all, fair. She adored the students in her care and always had time to listen to students or staff who needed her. Miss Paul was a lady I left holyhead school in 2009 and remember her perfectly you don’t forget people like that R.I.P. xxx Nurea khanom (Ali) Deb encouraged me to continue teaching following an unsuccessful interview. Miraculously, another job came up at Holyhead only a week or two later- I was successful this time- and I always suspected Deb had something to do with this magic. Thank you and rest in peace. I’ll never forget walking into the corridor joining the two buildings at Holyhead to see Mrs Paul trying to catch a pigeon! She was a bit nervous so I stepped in and between us we caught the bird and released it into the playground. We had a right laugh about that, as well as some good times on trips away and at socials. She was full of good humour and really cared for the kids. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, she’ll be missed. Emily Blain
