THE MOST HOLY PLACE, OR HOLY OF HOLIES
by Ronald
Incense was to be burned thereon perpetually, morning and evening (Exodus 30:8). Signifying perpetual prayer ascending in the house of God - a hint of the place that prayer may have in molding the destinies of the world (Revelation 8:4,5). 14. THE MOST HOLY PLACE. OR HOLY OF HOLIES - Was the West 15 feet of the Tabernacle and was a perfect cube - the length, breadth and height being equal.
This was God’s dwelling place. It contained only the Ark. It was entered by the High Priest once a year. A “shadow of heaven” (Hebrews 9:24).

15. THE ARK - This was a chest 3-3/4 feet long, 2-1/4 feet wide, 2-1/4 feet high and made of Acacia wood overlaid with pure gold. It contained only the Two Tables with the Ten Commandments, a Pot of Manna, and the Book of the Law.
The Mercy-seat was the top of the Ark, a lid of solid gold. It had two Cherubs (one at each end) of one piece with the lid facing each other looking down toward the
Mercy-seat with their wings spread out, The Mercy-seat was just above the Two
Tables with the Commandments and represented the meeting place of justice and mercy, thus a “shadow of Christ”. The Cherubs present a very vivid representation of the interest of heavenly beings in human redemption. This seems to be what Peter had in mind when he said, “-- -which things the angels desire to look into,” (1 Peter 1:13).
The Ark was probably lost in the Babylonian captivity. In Revelation 11:19 John saw the Ark “in the Temple”. That was in a vision, certainly not meaning that the actual material Ark was there, for in heaven there is “No Temple,” Revelation 21:22).
16. THE TENT - The tent covered the Tabernacle and was of goat’s hair cloth - 11 curtains each 45 feet long and 6 feet wide coupled together with clasps of brass, the whole being 66 feet East and West and 45 feet North and South. Over this was a covering of red leather made of ram’s skins - over this still another covering made of seal skins (a species of porpoise that abounded in the Red Sea). This threefold tent was probably supported by a ridge pole at the top, with sloping sides. The roof of the Tabernacle proper probably was flat.
17. THE STANDARD OF THE CAMP OF ISRAEL - Numbers 2:1,2 “And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying. Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.” DIRECTION NAME NUMBER CAPTAIN
