Amen.

RI President’s Message Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month We have overcome so many challenges these past two years and changed numerous lives. It brings me great joy that we have worked so hard this year to grow Rotary through the Each One, Bring One initiative. The result has been excellent growth in membership. Let us keep up the momentum. I am happy that you have put a spotlight on all we do by organizing projects around the world in our Rotary Days of Service. The future looks brighter than ever for Rotary and our 1.4 million members. On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization declared that COVID-19 constituted a pandemic, and two years March 2022 later it is important that we continue to draw on our expertise in Shekhar Mehta RI President 2021-22 our disease prevention and treatment area of focus to help people worldwide cope with the continuing challenges. The pandemic continues to defy all expectations, but we cannot be frozen in fear. Our work is too important. It is also important that we make time for each other, and I urge you to register for the upcoming 2022 Rotary International Convention in Houston. It is a great way for all of us to safely celebrate Rotary service. We can continue to build hope and spread peace in the world by using our resources to help the most vulnerable and keeping our faith in the future. The pandemic has had an especially devastating impact on girls worldwide. On the first anniversary of the pandemic, Henrietta Fore, the executive director of UNICEF, said that “immediate action is needed to mitigate the toll on girls and their families.” This need, unfortunately, remains just as strong a year later. The ripples of the pandemic have affected girls in unique ways — stunting their educational attainment, weakening their job prospects, and contributing to other terrible results such as child marriages and increased human trafficking. I encourage clubs to think of innovative ways to empower girls when designing their grant projects. Every step we take to improve education, health care, and economic opportunities for girls makes an important difference in helping them achieve their full potential. With opportunity we create hope, and with hope we address the root causes of conflict around the world, setting the stage for sustainable peace. None of us know how long the COVID-19 virus will linger — and as an organization that has worked tirelessly for decades to eradicate polio, we understand better than most the difficult work that lies ahead for the world. That is why we need to remain focused on the future and on what is possible — not feeling nostalgic for the way our lives were, but looking hopefully to a future that uses this opportunity to Serve to Change Lives. I look forward to continuing this good work with you. 6

President’s Message For three years now, the month of March has brought about a whole new significance to me personally. Our Charter Presentation serendipitously fell on the same date as my birthday. And true enough, Rotary has been an integral part of me ever since. I am forever changed by being part of Rotary: from awakening in me a deepened sense of service and helping others to developing friendships that have enriched my life. Last March 10 we had our advance celebration for our 3rd Anniversary and my birthday. Thank you so much for a fun and memorable night at Plaza de Arko! The sweet and thoughtful messages, the games and prizes, AVP, the many sumptuous foods, our high-energy Zumba fellowship… These will be forever etched in my heart. As we continue our mission to serve to change lives this Rotary Year, I am proud to share that our Joint Grant Medical Mission last March 20, 2022 was a success. Thank you to everyone for supporting this project, especially to Special Project Head Mutya Uychoco, Service Project Dir. Weng Leyesa, Treas. Rax Villaceran & Print Layout, and sis Atty. Agay Cruz. Thank you also to our Rotary Service Day partners, RC Guiguinto Premier, RC Guiguinto Suburbs, Bulacan Doctors, Lloyd Laboratories and of course the Barangay Health Workers, RHU headed by Dra. Prima Lea Chua and the Guiguinto LGU. We still have our WASH handwashing project and the completion of our livelihood seminar and I urge you to continue supporting our activities and obligations. I am encouraging you to join the District Conference this coming April 23-24 so we can learn more about Rotary beyond the Club level and learn from the different speakers, as well as have fellowship with the other Clubs of District 3770. The next few months we will focus more on fellowship activities for our Club too, like bowling which we enjoyed this month. Looking forward to the other District events and getting ready to “Imagine Rotary” with President Elect Luz Loquinario. Lastly, thank you to sis Rax for accepting to be our President Nominee. More exciting things are indeed under way. Cheryll C. Unson President 2021-22

Rotary Information

Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life. When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.

HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN

Through water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change.

OUR IMPACT ON WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE

The Rotary Foundation is changing the world by providing grants for projects and activities around the globe and in your own backyard:

WASH Global Grant Projects: Since 2013, The Rotary Foundation has invested in more than $130 million in over 2000 projects worldwide. Through this investment, our volunteers of action have improved access to safely managed and basic WASH services to communities, schools and healthcare facilities, while protecting and conserving water resources. Rotary-USAID WASH Partnership: Rotary and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) assist communities and governments to plan, finance and deliver safe water, sanitation and hygiene services, while sustainably managing water resources. WASH in Schools Target Challenge: Rotary challenges our members to develop sustainable projects that comprehensively address the most pressing water, sanitation, hygiene and education needs in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, India, and Kenya.

Every Rotarian Should Know About Rotary BY PE/DIR. LUZ LOQUINARIO

SHARING ROTARY WITH NEW MEMBERS Are you aware of the responsibility or obligation most Rotarians fail to perform? Paying their dues? Attending meetings? Contributing to the club service fund? Participating in club events and projects? No-none of these! Of all the obligations a person accepts when joining a Rotary club the one in which most Rotarians fail is "sharing Rotary." The policies of Rotary International clearly affirm that every individual Rotarian has an "obligation to share Rotary with others and to help extend Rotary through proposing qualified persons for Rotary club membership." It is estimated that less than 30 percent of the members of most Rotary clubs have ever made the effort to propose a new member. Thus, in every club, there are many Rotarians who readily accept the pleasures of being a Rotarian without ever sharing that privilege with another qualified individual. The Rotary policy on club membership states: "In order for a Rotary club to be fully relevant to its community and responsive to the needs of those in the community, it is important and necessary that the club include in its membership all fully qualified prospective members located within its territory" One merely has to glance through the yellow pages of the local telephone directory to realize that most clubs have not invited qualified members of all businesses and professions into Rotary Only a Rotarian may propose a customer, neighbor, client, supplier, executive, relative, business associate, professional or other qualified person to join a Rotary club. Have you accepted your obligation to share Rotary? The procedures are very simple, and everyone must know at least one person who should belong to Rotary.
