Even as we face new and serious challenges, Rotary takes care of its members and those we serve, works to build lasting peace, and embeds belonging and inclusion in everything we do. That is why I am asking everyone in Rotary to Create Hope in the World.
This year, we’re prioritizing projects to support mental health. This effort is deeply personal to me. I know what it’s like to see someone suffer in silence. I have also witnessed the power of personal connections, the value of discussing emotional and mental well-being, and the lifesaving impact of preventive care and treatment.
Research shows that performing acts of kindness is an effective step any of us can take to protect our well-being. And by building peace within, we become more capable of bringing peace to the world.
July 2023
Gordon R. Mcinally RI President 2023-2024
Building peace is the essence of Rotary. Many of our service projects foster the conditions for Positive Peace. We work tirelessly to overcome barriers and create new connections. This year, we’ll promote virtual international exchanges for members to strengthen those vital connections.
Peace isn’t a dream, and it’s not passive. It’s the result of working hard, earning trust, and having open conversations that may be difficult. Peace must be waged persistently and bravely. Everything we do across our areas of focus has the potential to foster the hope that can make peace possible.
The spirit of connection and purpose should inspire every Rotary member. When club leaders focus on offering an excellent club experience, we retain more members and attract more prospective members. We must make our clubs as welcoming and as engaging as we can.
Our goal is to create a sense of belonging, from our club meetings to our service activities. We need to continue creating inclusive, welcoming environments where everyone can be their authentic selves. All people of action need to be able to imagine a place for themselves in Rotary it’s up to us to ensure they can do so.
Over the next year, I will be putting a focus on continuing our journey in diversity, equity, and inclusion ensuring that Rotary reflects the communities we serve and continues to take significant steps toward accessing the full range of human talents and experiences, so that we can better serve humanity. And we will continue to empower women and girls by helping them unlock the potential already within them.
As we begin this journey together, I take inspiration from Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, who in the 18th century spoke of all the world becoming kin, promoting“sense and worth, over all the earth.” This has long been my call to action, and I share it now with you.
Let us build peace within and spread it freely. Let us create belonging and imagine the future of Rotary afresh. Let us work together joyously and Create Hope in the World.
The theme "Create Hope in the World" is highly inspirational and activates excitement for every Rotarian across the globe.
We hailed Rotary Year positively, based on community assessments to improve the sustainability and impact of our planned projects and activities for Rotary Year 2023
2024. Under its "One Family, One Community, One Country" campaign, the Club is concentrating on families and neighborhood development for the Hope-Creating year. To evaluate their needs, community leaders were consulted. A separate gathering with members of the targeted community was also held, and it included a group discussion and the completion of a survey. To better address their demands, they will directly participate in the project identification process. Additionally, this will ensure that they are prepared to continue supporting the program even after it has been put into place. The program also included games, snacks, and a raffle to build relationships with the locals.
On July 6, 2023, at the Central MRF in Poblacion, Guiguinto, Bulacan, we planted 350 bamboo seedlings to start the new Rotary year! The bamboo planting project "Let the Bamboo Bloom Like a Tree of Hope" will assist in reducing air pollution and preventing soil erosion in the pursuit of a cleaner and greener Guiguinto. The planted bamboo will also be a part of Guiguinto, Bulacan's future Eco Hub. Together with partners, the project was made possible. Thank you to our service project committee, guided by service project assistant Director Annabelle.
Due to Bagyong Egay, our scheduled project on July 20 about the community-saving program and positive mindset seminar with the feeding program had been canceled. Hence, the RCGB family responded immediately. On July 19, we provided hot porridge and bread for 100 relief volunteers, and to 1700 individuals on July 29 and 30, respectively. They came from various evacuation centers in barangays Poblacion, Ilang-Ilang, and Sta. Cruz. Simultaneously, we provided hot porridge for stranded commuters due to heavy floods in Poblacion, Guiguinto, Bulacan and children from Tabang, Guiguinto, Bulacan
I would like to congratulate Asec Weng, Vice President Norma, and Director Relly for their Paul Harris Fellow contributions, a total of four, including yours truly. Also, thank Sec Che for continuous support to be part of the Polio Plus society. Let us all continue to support the TRF committee under Director Lai in reaching our Rotary Foundation goals.
Thank you to our Membership Committee, headed by Director Wenna, for baking elegant blooming cakes that were truly appreciated by the celebrants. To our talented Treasurer Nora for composing a poem to describe our dearest celebrants and greet them wholeheartedly.
Our Rotary Club Invoice has been received and paid for by Treasurer Nora on July 25, 2023. Thank you, dear members, for keeping your accounts updated, especially those who paid their monthly dues annually, making it possible for the Club to settle our RI Invoice immediately. Thanks, Club Administration Committee, under the leadership of Director Joan.
The RCGB Facebook Page is being updated regularly, thanks to Sec. Cheryll and the Public Image Committee headed by Director Eva, make sure we have plenty of photos during our projects and activities. To all members, please continue to like and share our Social Media accounts and post to your accounts as well.
Thank you to our Rotaract, headed by President Des and guided by our Youth Chair Cherry, whose mother-daughter duo has significantly contributed to our joint actions.
Finally, my heart is full of joy because of the optimistic active, and unconditional contribution of each member and partner to our activities especially to my officers who are always supportive despite of hectic schedule. Let us continue to foster service above self, and together, we take action to create hope in the world with a positive mindset and happy thoughts. Thank you and love you all. God bless us.

To be a vibrant club united in selfless service through sustainable and participative programs for the community
BY IPP. LUZ LOQUINARIO PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS
Undoubtedly the most important step to promote voluntary giving to The Rotary Foundation occurred in 1957, when the idea of Paul Harris Fellow recognition was first proposed. Although the concept of making $1,000 gifts to the Foundation was slow in developing, by the early 1970s it began to gain popularity. The distinctive Paul Harris Fellow medallion, lapel pin and attractive certificate have become highly respected symbols of a substantial financial commitment to The Rotary Foundation by Rotarians and friends around the world.
The companion to the Paul Harris Fellow is the Paul Harris Sustaining Member, which is the recognition presented to an individual who has given, or in whose honor a gift is made, a contribution of $100, with the stated intention of making additional contributions until $1,000 is reached. At that time the Paul Harris Sustaining Member becomes a Paul Harris Fellow. By 1994, more than 450,000 Paul Harris Fellows and 160,000 Sustaining Members have been added to the rolls of The Rotary Foundation.
A special recognition pin is given to Paul Harris Fellows who make additional gifts of $1,000 to the Foundation. The distinctive gold pin includes a blue stone to represent each $1,000 contribution up to a total of $5,000 in additional gifts.
Paul Harris recognition provides a very important incentive for the continuing support needed to underwrite the many programs of The Rotary Foundation which build goodwill and understanding in the world.
There are now over 800 Rotary Clubs in the Philippines, and their members are among the most active when it comes to serving the Filipino community and helping those in need.
350 Bamboo Seedlings were planted at the MENRO Eco Hub, Poblacion, Guiguinto, Bulacan. Thank you to our project partners Stronglinks Cooperative, Plaza De Arkot, our RAC Guiguinto United Youth, Guiguinto Cooperative Development Council, Bulacan State University-Meneses Campus, MENRO Guiguinto, Guiguinto Committee on Environment and BJMP volunteers.
