Rosslare Tidy Towns For the 4th consecutive year Rosslare has achieved a fantastic result in the National Tidy Towns Competition. Having already achieved 3 Bronze Medals we are thrilled to announce that Rosslare has been awarded a Silver Medal for 2019. This year there were 918 Entries and out of that, only 34 (under 4 %) Silver Medals Awards were granted so the Community has every right to celebrate. We #It’s a Numbers game..…. congratulate Wexford Town on a similar achievement making it84:2the Silvers the County outCentre of 34 Entries. In Rosslare Exciting news for the Access – For – All Garden Friends of Rosslare Community, aided by funding from Creative Ireland and Wexford Council, have recently been involved with the creation of handcrafted mosaic pieces to be sited at the Access for All Garden in the near future – we will keep you informed on the official launch date. They have just created and planted some wonderful mosaic pots which can be seen at the entrance to the New 2 U Charity shop. Rosslare Development Association Annual General Meeting will be held at 7pm on Wednesday 27th November 2019 in Community and Sports Centre, Rosslare. ‘Making our Community Dementia Friendly’ - The local Rosslare Befriending group are pleased to host this event on Tuesday 15 October at 7pm in The Fort Room, Rosslare Community Centre. Our guest speaker is Joan Fitzpatrick of Memory Harbour, a Senior Occupational Therapist and Dementia specialist. The event is open to all in the community, with particular emphasis on local businesses and services, community groups, people living with dementia and their caregivers. It is hoped the evening will help the community to gain a better understanding of different types of dementia, identify steps that can be taken to make the village more dementia aware, enabling those with dementia to continue to participate fully in village life. Further information will be available in the coming weeks on the Centre’s Facebook page (Rosslare Strand). Befriending Group We offer free and friendly companionship to older people through weekly visits and telephone calls. Our volunteers receive training and are Garda vetted. We complement other services such as home help, home care etc., but DO NOT replace these services. Professional and self-referrals welcome. Sewing Course Will cover all the basic set up, maintenance and operational aspects of the machine, and the aim is to produce a lovely piece of work which would make an ideal Christmas gift. Sound Therapy Taster Evening Tuesday 22 October at 7pm. Come and meet Caroline Flynn, qualified Sound Therapist who will introduce you to the practice. Sound therapy is used to alleviate stress, promote clarity of mind and alleviate muscle tension. Admission free – voluntary donations welcome. Rosslare Bowls All welcome. A large number enjoyed our Afternoon Tea last Tuesday in Coast Hotel, a big thank you to the staff in Coast for providing such a lovely selection of sandwiches and completely irresistible cakes, they were certainly enjoyed by all who attended, overall it was a most enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Our next outing will be to the Hits from the Musicals in Clayton White’s Hotel on Thursday 31st October, tickets have been secured and we are all looking forward to our night out. Look out for information on our outing for November! In the meantime, we continue to meet each Tuesday when we hope to see some new members join our group. .
