Welcome to the February Edition of Rosslare Newsletter Hot off the press! News flash! Looks like Rosslare is winning the focus of the government Ministers who have visited us at the end of last year. We are told an announcement is imminent that the government is committed to providing the capital funding necessary for the coastal protection works that we have long sought. This means the rock-groyne system that has successfully worked on parts of the beach will now be extended to areas in need of urgent attention. ©Shauna Murphy What’s the catch……? Under an EU Directive called Natura 2000, we will have to wait for various environmental tests and analyses to be conducted before work can start. This will likely run us into the end of next year at the earliest. But winning a solid commitment to fund this work will mean we’re on our way. There’s a job to be done by you also….a small one! We will soon deliver a questionnaire to your door and we will be asking you to fill it in and we’ll be back to collect it. It’s to get your views on how the village should be developed and we don’t want to leave you out. It’s your village after all. A lot of people are working on committees to improve Rosslare and while they sometimes get fed up with all the meetings cutting into their leisure time, they still turn up to put their shoulders to the wheel. Through this newsletter, we’ll bring you up to speed on all that’s going on behind the scenes. Here at the Centre, our development plans for 2019 include refurbishment of the crazy golf course, the addition of CCTV to public areas, and drainage to lower car park. We will keep you updated on progress throughout the year.
Scoil Mhuire Rosslare – 2019 Enrolments The school is now enrolling pupils for September 2019. There are a number of ways to enrol; you can call to the school for a Registration Form, download the form from the school’s website scoilmhuirerosslare.ie, or phone the office to on 053 9132501 to have a form posted to you. Please note completed forms must be returned before February Mid-Term break (February 21st/22nd).

Please keep our village beautiful by picking up after your pet. Bags are provided at the car park and can be deposited in any council refuse bin round the village; “any bin, any bag”. Rosslare Active Retirement Next meeting will be held on Tuesday 26th February at 10.30am in Coast Rosslare Strand. All are welcome. Call Paul O’Connor on 0860692330 for more info. Community Book Shelf We have a wide range of reading material available on our shelves; please call in, have a browse or grab a coffee, relax in our seating and avail of the FREE WIFI. We ask for a €1 donation; all money raised goes towards the Community of Rosslare. Donations always welcome. Access – For – All Garden Don’t forget our garden is open for all to enjoy, and despite the dropping temperatures, our fabulous volunteers have maintained colour and interest. Wrap up warmly, and have a stroll around. New volunteers always welcome. Kindling Good quality kindling available here at the Centre. Only €2.50 per bag or €10 for 5 bags.
