Welcome to the December Edition of Rosslare Newsletter 2019 has been a year of achievement for Rosslare, garnering recognition across a wide range of activities. In sport, Lauren Mullaly of Rosslare Boxing club triumphed as All Ireland title champion in her class. Representing the area in this year’s WKSF European Championships in Ukraine, Rosslare Kettlebells Club produced 3 European Champions and a European Silver Medal. Closer to home, St Mary’s GAA continued the winning streak, and now hold no fewer than 3 titles; U17 County Football Champions, U15 County Football Champions and Junior Adult Hurling County Champions. Rosslare Men’s Shed came 2nd in the Topline Men’s Shed competition and donated some of their prize winnings towards the painting of the Community Centre & Crazy Golf. Rosslare Tidy Towns did the village proud with a Silver Medal win at the National Tidy Towns competition, with Dara Meyler scooping the SuperValu Community Hero Award. At the Wexford County Council Environment Awards 2019 Rosslare Tidy Towns also received special recognition for their silver medal and 1st prize in the Best Community Coastal Management Initiative. Friends of Rosslare won 1st Prize in the Best Community Project to Improve Accessibility in Gardens/ Parks also at the Environment Awards A little of the magic victory dust was sprinkled in our own direction too – we have recently been awarded funding through the Sports Capital Grant to refurbish the Centre’s grass tennis courts. So all in all, a great year all round for the community – let’s hope 2020 brings its share of good fortune.
