Senior Show Project: Children’s Book Illustration Title: Nighttime
I came up with the first draft of Nighttime back during the summer going into my junior
year to help get through a rough creative slump. I always enjoyed the crazy imaginative worlds that books from Dr. Seuss, Margaret Wise Brown, and Maurice Sendak brought you to. The Imaginative creatures and these creative worlds that they live in, I always wanted to create my own world like they did full of my own creature. Later on after switching my original building wooden surfboards I chose to go back and recreate the project that I had made a few summers ago. While working on the book again I saw myself going on adventure again traveling through the world that I created and I also found myself reconnecting with that childlike sense of wonder again that I felt distant from for a while now. Overall I found myself getting into that childlike mindset like I did when reading those books from the past and I hope my book Nighttime does the same to you as well.
