THERE’S A BUZZ AROUND THE VILLAGE...
WE NEED YOU

Looking for local volunteers to dig in!
Do you live near Aylesford and are you handy with a spade...? If so, we’d love your help with a new project to clear out a site for a new allotment. Once created, this important new project will provide a space where veterans can get outdoors, make friends and learn new skills, growing fresh organic fruit and vegetables. Our new allotment will also include bee hives. We are working with a local bee keeper, Jason Arms, who will set up the hives and also hopes to create a wildflower garden to encourage pollination and wildlife. Once complete, we also hope to invite local schools to come and work in the garden and find out more about bees.
If you interested in volunteering to help us prepare our new allotment site, please email tommyclub@rbli.co.uk

Tommy Across the Atlantic
The Salty Sappers

THE TEAM: Pictured here left to right, Major Tim Ives, Warrant Officer Chris Watson, Captain Josh Warne and Corporal Chris Hayto.
...are serving members of the Corps of Royal Engineers, who will attempt to row 3,000 miles unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean later this year. The team of four are competing in 2021 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, one of the toughest feats of endurance in the world. They will depart from La Gomera in the Canaries in December, expecting to arrive in Antigua around 50 days later. The Tommy Club is delighted to be supporting the team, who are raising money and awareness for RBLI and The Royal Engineers’ Association.

THE BOAT: Aptly named ‘Victory’. the team’s 28ft ocean rowing boat is proudly sporting a Tommy icon. The team will live, row, cook and sleep on board for the entire crossing.
