TLX Insulation Ltd has been setting standards of excellence in high performance breathable membranes and building insulation for nearly 25 years. They've now used their knowledge and expertise to create TLX Batsafe - the first ever bat friendly, energy-saving breather membrane.
Can be used in warm or cold roof constructions
Suitable for unsupported and supported applications
May be laid directly over insulation and insulated sarking board in convection-tight roof designs
Fit Batsafe with the black side uppermost
Batsafe may be slippery, especially in wet weather, so take appropriate safety precautions
Take care to avoid being cut by the edge of the mesh, especially when cutting it. Protective gloves are recommended
Install Batsafe in accordance with the following instructions and with the relevant standards, for example BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 Code of Practice for Slating and Tiling BS 5250: 2011 Code of Practice for the Control of Condensation in Buildings
Lap Batsafe according to the following tables of minimum overlap requirements:
TLX Gold is an 'Sd intelligent' 2 in 1 insulating breather membrane. It doesn't need a vapour barrier to avoid condensation risk. It adjusts its rate of breathability according to the amount of moisture. TLX Gold is completely watertight and air tight. It is simply rolled out across rafters and can be installed without raising the roof height. On its own, TLX Gold can reduce heat loss by 86%.
WHETHER IT'S A ROOF REFURBISHMENT OR NEW BUILD PROJECT, TLX GOLD IS THE PRODUCT FOR TODAY'S ROOFERS. THIS COMBINED BREATHABLE ROOFING MEMBRANE AND INSULATION WITH A BREATHABLE REFLECTIVE LAYER HAS THE ANSWERS.
Upgrades thermal performance externally without risk of condensation
Heat reflecting, waterproof and airtight
Maintains roofline and maximises internal head room
Fast and easy to install, certified and guaranteed
Externally fitted with minimum disturbance
Provides an improved insulation solution
CE marked, BBA certified, LABC approved build-ups
Unroll the TLX Gold across the top of the rafters. At the end of the roll, cut back the TLX Gold so that it ends at the middle of a rafter. Staple the end of the TLX Gold to the rafter.
Starting at the bottom of the roof, roll TLX Gold across the rafters, and hold in place with staples.
Fit a line of double-sided tape along the top edge of the TLX Gold.
Butt the end of the next roll of TLX Gold against the end of the first roll. Staple the second roll to the rafter.
Tape over the overlap and the staples using a 50mm wide waterproof tape.
Nail a 38 x 38mm counter batten along the rafter to cover the tape and hold both pieces of TLX Gold firmly in place.
Nail 25mm tiling battens across the counter battens, and fit tiles or slates.
Lay a second roll of TLX Gold above the first roll. The bottom edge should butt closely up against the first roll. Fix the overlap of breather membrane on the top layer of TLX Gold to the double sided tape to create a seal.
Lay a line of single sided tape across the staple holes.
Fit counter battens along the line of the rafters.
Fit the tile battens across the top of the counter battens.
Unroll the TLX Gold across the rafters and fix with staples.
Lap the TLX Gold over the ridge and on to the opposite pitch. Fix with staples.
Butt the next piece of TLX Gold up to the edge of the piece laid over the ridge.
Run a 150mm wide (minimum) strip of breather membrane along the join and tape in position using suitable tape.
Nail 38 x 38mm counter battens along the rafters to hold the TLX Gold firmly in place.
Nail 25mm tiling battens across the counter battens, and fit tiles or slates.
Unroll the TLX Gold across the rafters and fix with staples.
Cut the TLX Gold along the centre of the ridge beam. Fix it to the beam with staples.
Fit TLX Gold to opposite pitch in the same way. At the ridge, cut it to butt join with the first side.
Run a 150mm wide (minimum) strip of breather membrane along the join and tape in position using suitable tape.
Nail 25mm tiling battens across the counter battens, and fit tiles or slates.
TLX Silver wraps the inside of buildings. It prevents condensation risk by stopping moisture entering the roof void from the inside of the building. Installed to the underside of rafters and across joists, it's also certified for use in timber frame and solid masonry walls. Combined with other products TLX Silver can deliver U-values as low as 0.13 W/m2 K in a standard roof.
BBA CERTIFIED, TLX SILVER OFFERS TIME-SAVING 0.18 SOLUTIONS. IT STOPS AIR LEAKAGE BY PROVIDING AN AIR-TIGHT VAPOUR BARRIER AND RESTRICTING AIR MOVEMENT IN ITS MULTI-FOIL LAYERS.
Fitted below any depth rafter to improve thermal performance
Prevents condensation by providing a vapour barrier and stops water vapour from entering the roof structure
Lightweight and flexible for quick and easy installation
Reduces the depth of stud needed in new builds
BBA certified to internally insulate new timber frame or existing masonry walls
NO CONDENSATION RISK BECAUSE IT'S A VAPOUR BARRIER
Unique 2 in 1 insulating vapour barrier. Makes all kinds of roofing jobs faster, easier and more efficient.

L 1 B states that: "Practical considerations with respect to an increase in structural thickness (particularly in terraced dwellings) may necessitate a lower performance target."
These solutions give U-values of 0.18 and 0.28 W/m2K for typical roof and walls respectively. Please contact the thermal hotline and we will provide a customised U-value for your own particular structure, or advice about using different thicknesses.
SEMI-EXPOSED RAFTER+ 80MM FOILED RIGID INSULATION
TLX Silver is the orginal certified multi-foil. The system is fault tolerant, air and vapour tight cutting CO2 emissions and saves energy. The product has zero global warming and ozone depletion potential.
With an average home losing 70% of its heat through radiation, you will be glad to hear that TLX reflects more than 95% of the radiation, playing a major part in reducing fuel bills and saving energy.
