Our son, Eli, has attended Rawson Saunders since first grade. His story may be similar to that of your own child. Eli started kindergarten happy, outgoing, and enthusiastic, but before too long had become withdrawn and anxious. He doubted his cognitive abilities and his self-esteem was plummeting. We were new to dyslexia, and were intrigued to learn of the thoughtful and creative lives of those diagnosed with it, from Walt Disney to Albert Einstein. If only someone could nourish that potential and thirst for knowledge! And so our first phone call was to Rawson Saunders. Eli’s first year at Rawson-Saunders was like watching a flower bloom—he again became an eager learner, was proud of his accomplishments, and had the re-emerging social confidence to make new friends.
Our various kids’ exceptional experiences at Rawson Saunders are the result of highly trained, dedicated teachers and staff. They come from an evidence-based, dyslexia-specific, innovative curriculum. They are supported by an incredible student-to-staff ratio of 2:1. They come from a culture of optimism and kindness that shows our kids that their potential has no bounds. Like many independent schools, however, tuition alone does not cover the total cost of this exceptional education. The gap in 2020-2021 was $2,497 per student. The Rawson Saunders Fund is the important school-wide fundraiser that helps close this gap. Our tax-deductible gifts are essential to support the pillars of the Rawson Saunders experience: integrated electives like art, music, drama, and PE; professional development for our dedicated teachers; upgraded technology; improvements to our facilities and so much more. WHY SHOULD I GIVE? Tuition covers only 85% of the school’s operating funds, which means gifts to the RSF are a crucial source of revenue for the school and a necessity. Every individual student’s education at Rawson Saunders is made possible as a result of annual fundraising. The RSF is more than a show of support for the school; it directly funds the extraordinary education Rawson Saunders provides to each and every student by helping to meet the 15% shortfall between tuition and actual costs. The pandemic has posed additional challenges to our operations budget, requiring costly measures to ensure an extraordinary—and extraordinarily safe—environment for our students. This year, our RSF fundraising goal is to raise $227,000. Please consider giving generously!
