i was born and raised in central new jersey. an introvert and natural observer at my very core, but a deep-rooted passion to express my ideas creatively and tell a story. the idiosyncrasies of nature and human behavior always fascinated me to where i’d study them repeatedly. i’ve been able to compile a(n ever-expanding) beautiful, lush and unique visual library, that i’ve implemented parts of as elements into various illustrations and creative projects, expressing my most intimate feelings and eccentric ideas. this is my first self-published zine, DEREGULATE - a collection of chosen original works that signify my creative resilience, where i’ve come from, & my potential.

BRIDGING THE ‘GAP’

WHERE IT MADE SENSE.

i have been in pursuit of unique creative expression since i was a young child. spending countless evenings indoors, and losing sleep in a passionate attempt to manifest my ideas. my imagination and taste for art only began to expand as i grew older, though the execution remained stagnant and dull. i struggled for years trying to grow my technique and seeking a style that suited my creative vision. since 2018, i have been vigilant in developing my skills and honing into the subtleties of my illustrations that make my work my own. around 2022, i ‘bridged the gap’ between my artistic tastes and my actual skill. from then on, everything just began to fit perfectly into place, like a jigsaw puzzle.

so i continue swimming.

growing up along the jersey shore, i used to collect shells of horseshoe crabs on the beach and observe bluefish migrations on the dock, breathing in the salty air and smell.

‘NEW TENANT’ (2024)

the water and marine life captivates me. i find ocean/beach themes comforting and so perfect for artistic experimentation.

maybe it’s nostalgia, or maybe it’s the incredulous amount of water signs present in my birth chart - whatever it is, ocean/water themes are my go to for starting new pieces.

what inspires me

‘GIVE UP THE GHOST’ (2023)

i find this is the best way to discover one’s own artistic style. by essentially breaking down your favorite artists’ styles to analyze why you’re attracted to that specific art, it’s worth attempting to emulate this style and essentially frankensteining different aspects of various artists to form your own style. it’s worth noting never to directly copy from an artist and post it as your own original work.

i am always inspired by the media i consume. from jarring anime series to cozy children’s book illustrations, i find inspiration in all works i enjoy.

GAEA, TO THE GALAXY!

stay tuned for my upcoming YA webcomic titled ‘Gaea, to the Galaxy!’ set in 2004, gaea fernanda meadows is an active, peppy (though naive) 17 year old from the affluent upstate new york town, temple landing. a girl with a passion for the outdoors, Gaea is a master treasure hunter, spelunker and hiker that trained in the mountains of new york as well as the lush jungles of the dominican republic. dedicated to nature conservation and research, gaea is set to become a freshman at the esteemed bloomed view institute with a major in environmental science. however, her plans are led astray when a mysterious being approaches her with a challenge to restore peace and harmony to her galaxy for a mighty reward. always tempted by the invitation for adventure and treasure, gaea soon embarks on an intergalactic mission that unfolds in ways she never could have predicted. using her positive atttude and knack for exploration, gaea gives her all to protect her galaxy and solve the mysteries that appear before her.
