my uncle martin took this photo, i see a baby spiderboy in that shadow shape on the big leaf, but that’s just me...uncle martin lives in west virginia now but right after my father died, his family lived near us in the bronx...he’d take me to his wedding photographer jobs as nephew-assistant-photographer...i felt very important as he’d ask me to hold the flash on a table of smiling relatives, ‘cuz then...we’d get to sit at our own special photographers’ table and i could eat what everybody else ate, even the kids...uncle martin was like a boricua benny hill with all kinda jokes about farting and puns on top of puns...he was always on, i mean always....it was probably hard to live with someone who saw everything as an opening to a punch line...but his delivery made it worth the wait, he had great timing...uncle martin got me my first camera and tape recorder and made me realize there was another way of looking at the world...i’ve lost contact with him which is why I wanted to include this photo...as a reminder to the wonder he instilled in me...to look at life with a gleam in your eye...thanks uncle martin
