the residential school
the aim of this project is to design a sustainable school that is affiliated to KPS along with residential space for orphans using alternate building materials and techniques. The spaces are broadly classified into 5 different groups each one pertaining to building and these are the school building, the food court, the residential building, the staff quarters, and the anganwadi. Farm area has been design to make the system more self reliant economically. The site is well connected using different pathways to minimise any circulation clash. The entire design is barrier free along with appropriate fire safety measures and anganwadi is entire made up of traditional materials using alternate construction techniques.

design philosophy “using minimalism towards the sustainable built environment” minimum active HVAC for proper placement of fenestrations to enable cross ventilation. minimum physical effort by putting paved pathways with signs and landscaping thus decreasing physical effort and reduced conflict zones. minimum ornamentation by using simple design of furniture and spaces thus low labor and material cost. minimum wastage by provision of space for proper waste segregation and disposal.

the house 2.0
The house 2.0, designed for a site in Houghton, a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, is a two-story structure made using prefabricated techniques and responds well to the context of the area. This design tends to make use of traditional design features of a typical suburban house in the town along with some modern features. The use of concrete precast material is balanced with the use of steel and glass panels and modern furniture. It has been designed keeping in mind, the idea of indoor, outdoor connectivity, in terms of visual as well as ventilation hence all rooms have a view range of view towards the outside and the backside of the house is converted into a backyard with a kitchen garden and an outdoor seating space which is just next to the living room and kitchen. An ample amount of space has been provided on the first floor covered with the pergola which is a major connection point between the indoor and outdoor and has been converted into a roof garden. The family room on the 1st floor is having a good connection with the outdoors in terms of visuals, as a wide arch opens to the roof garden, and the space is covered with a sawtooth roof. Other than this, all rooms are connected to a wide balcony with curtain walls covering most part of the walls in every room.

the aura café the concept for the interior design features revolves around the deeper meaning of the term aura : (greek- a breeze, breathe) It is the distinctive atmosphere or quality that seems to surround and be generated by a person, thing, or a place. The interior of the café creates an aura using the sound and movements of ocean waves as the distinctive quality of the place creating a unique vibe.
the design features create an aura based on Nature, Neutrality, Interaction, and Serenity.

the major elements used for the interior components are wooden furniture, timber partitions, hanging plants, exposed brick walls, that focus on the interaction with the natural elements. The maximum part of the glass façade overlooking the beachside and the outdoor seating highlights the indoor interaction with nature; the central semi-open space is turned into a complete interaction zone for people with included board games, indoor games, books, magazines, and similar elements. ground floor seating

interactive
the colors used for the furniture and the interior components have been taken from the neutral palette and simply designed furniture has been kept to maintain neutrality and blend with the surroundings. the choice of colors, lights, and placement of furniture overlooking the beach together creates the sense of serenity, and hence the aura created in the interior blends in with the aura generated by the location.
