The RARA Board is a policy making board comprised of 7 members, representing the governmental agencies that established our interlocal agreement, and individuals from each of the communities in which we serve.
The board meets on the third Tuesday of each month, 5:00PM at the RARA offices, 500 E Second St. Rochester, MI 48307.

This landmark civil rights act went into effect in 1992. It is a significant step forward to make our society’s services and opportunities fully available to all Americans by combating barriers and prejudices that confront those of us with diabilities.
RARA is committed to implementing the intent and spirit of this legislation. Thos who may need assistance in order to participate and enjoy our programs should contact our staff at least two weeks in advance of registration to discuss any necessary accomodations or concerns.
Persons with disabilities are invited to participate in all programs offered through RARA. We hope that with our assistance, you will be able to create lifelong memories in our community. |

To receive the resident rate you must reside within the cities of Rochester or Rochester Hills. RARA is funded through a millage collected in the city of Rochester Hills and a comparable fee in the city of Rochester.
Residency is not connected with the Rochester School District. Residency is determined by where you pay your city taxes. Non Residents pay an additional 20%, capped at $20 per program in addition to the resident rate.
Participants must recognize that all activities of a physical nature involve some risk, and by registering for a class/activity of this nature there is an assumption of risk by the participants. RARA is dedicated to providing safe equipment as well as qualified staff for all participants. In the event of a serious accident or illness, it is the policy of RARA to:
Contact emergency medical services to perform first aid, and when necessary, recommend transport of the victim to the hospital. Reach the parent/guardian/emergency contact as soon as the situation allows.
RARA activities at community schools are canceled when school activities are canceled. Activities at 500E 2nd St along with other offsite locations will continue as scheduled unless otherwise posted. In addition, cancellation of programs will be determined by program supervisors as seen fit.
Cancellations will be posted at: www.rararecreation. org, Facebook/Instagram (@RARArecreation), and for some programs, registered participants will be notified via email.
As the community provider for recreation our goal is to offer opportunities for all. In 2023, we added a 1% fee to all transactions to help build our scholarship fund. This will allow us to set aside approximately $15,000 per year to help community members who are experiencing hardship participate in activities we offer.
On behalf of RARA and the community we serve, these funds provide much more than monetary subsidy. They are the foundation that builds community and creates memories that span a lifetime. We sincerely thank you for this investment in equity and inclusion for all of the residents of Rochester and Rochester Hills.

RARA is adopting a dynamic new format for our dance program this year. Instead of directly providing classes, we’re partnering with a diverse group of talented contractors and passionate teachers. They offer specialized dance programs at our facilities, including popular styles like break dance and hip hop, with more exciting opportunities on the horizon. Interested in finding a dance program? Be sure to inquire about our partners’ offerings!
Looking to run your own dance program? We’re actively expanding our network through skilled contractors and dedicated teachers. Whether you’re interested in running dance classes or renting studio space, we have opportunities for you. For studio rentals, please contact Kori at kori@rararecreation.org. To become a contractor and share your unique dance style with our community, reach out to Sam at sam@rararecreation.org.
Welcome to Dynamics Street Dance Academy (DSDA), the premier destination for young groovers to thrive in hip-hop and breakdancing (breaking). Founded by Franky Hang, a seasoned dancer and dedicated instructor, DSDA is more than just a dance school—it’s a community where life skills are cultivated through the art of dance.
Franky Hang has been passionate about breaking and teaching for over 13 years. Traveling across the Midwest and beyond, he has competed in numerous breaking competitions, connecting with fellow dancers and honing his craft. Within the past year, he successfully coached an allboys competitive hip-hop group to win first place at the national Bravo competition. This pivotal accomplishment inspired him to take the next step in his dance career by founding DSDA.
Classes at DSDA are offered at the Rochester Avon Recreational Authority, a vibrant and well-maintained facility in downtown Rochester. At DSDA, we pride ourselves on being the go-to place for students who are “all-in” on hip-hop dance. Unlike conventional studios with a broad curriculum, our singular focus on hip-hop is reflected in the exceptional quality of our teachers and the skill level of our routines.
Contact us today at (734) 945-5668 or fhang.mi@gmail.com. We look forward to welcoming you to the DSDA Family.

Therapeutic Concepts, LLC is more than just an established and successful home, community, and clinic-based Therapeutic Recreation agency serving families with special needs in Macomb, Oakland, and Washtenaw County in Southeastern Michigan. It is a beacon of hope and joy for countless families. Specifically, we provide Recreational Therapy, Massage Therapy, Music Therapy, and Occupational Therapy on a one-to-one basis, alongside small group programming (social skills, art classes, rhythm & exercise, etc.) and inclusive family events (karaoke nights, inclusive holiday parties, etc.).
The heart and soul of Therapeutic Concepts, LLC is our owner/founder, Mary Nagy, CTRS. Inspired by her son, Matthew, who has a rare metabolic condition, Mary founded Therapeutic Concepts with a profound belief that all children and adults with medical, physical, psychiatric, and neuro-behavioral challenges deserve to experience life’s joys unconditionally and without barriers. From those humble beginnings, Therapeutic Concepts flourished.
Over the past 15+ years, Therapeutic Concepts has touched the lives of hundreds of special needs individuals and their families in Macomb, Oakland, and Washtenaw Counties. Founder, Lara Olson, started Kidcreate Studio after being discouraged by the limited art exposure her son was receiving at school. In art class, he found tremendous joy in the creative process and none of the frustrations he was experiencing in some of his other classes.
Lara understood this. She too gravitated toward art as a child. Lara believed in the power of art to teach, inspire and build self-esteem. She also understood that art makes learning fun and a fun learning environment was exactly what her son needed. Lara started a quest for art classes for her son. She searched in vain for an art studio designed just for kids that combined quality art education with a fun kid-friendly environment. Finding nothing that met her requirements, she decided to create it!
Kidcreate Studio was born and has served thousands of kids not only around our area but nationwide.
