2025 is a big year for RARA! We’re calling on the community to help shape our first five-year master plan—ensuring we continue providing exceptional services and facilities for the greater Rochester area. Stay tuned for ways to get involved!
As we dive into our second season of 2025, we’re gearing up for an action-packed Spring and Summer! Thousands of you have already joined our programs this year, and we’re just getting started. Summer camps are back and bigger than ever, along with new activities like more Puzzle Palooza competitions and Intro to Film and Video for aspiring creators.
We’re also bringing the community together with a Movie in the Park series and Music in the Park at the Paint Creek Outdoor Amphitheater behind Rochester Mills Brewery! Plus, favorites like Tons of Trucks, Middle School Lock-In, Parent’s Night Out, tons of sports camps, and art programs return for another season of fun.
This summer also marks the grand opening of our E-Sports Lab, bringing exciting new opportunities for gaming and tech enthusiasts. And for those looking to unwind, Hammock Landing is back for another season—our perfect little getaway spot nestled along the trail behind RARA headquarters.
At RARA, everyone deserves to play. Since launching our scholarship fund, we’ve helped 87 participants with over $27,000 raised, ensuring financial barriers never stand in the way. Funding will remain available forever, so reach out if you need support!

The RARA Board is a policy making board comprised of 7 members, representing the governmental agencies that established our interlocal agreement, and individuals from each of the communities in which we serve.
The board meets on the third Wednesday of each month. 5:00pm at the RARA offices. 500 E Second St. Rochester, MI 48307.
Meeting agendas and minutes are available on our website at www.rararecreation.org and are updated monthly.

To receive the resident rate you must reside within The cities of Rochester or Rochester Hills. RARA is funded through a millage collected in the city of Rochester Hills and a comparable fee in the city of Rochester.
Residency is not connected with the Rochester School District. Residency is determined by where you pay your city taxes. Non Residents pay an additional 20%, capped at $20 per program in addition to the resident rate.
Participants must recognize that all activities of a physical nature involve some risk, and by registering for a class/activity of this nature there is an assumption of risk by the participants. RARA is dedicated to providing safe equipment as well as qualified staff for all participants. In the event of a serious accident or illness, it is the policy of RARA to:
Contact emergency medical services to perform first aid, and when necessary, recommend transport of the victim to the hospital. Reach the parent/guardian/emergency contact as soon as the situation allows.

RARA activities at community schools are canceled when school activities are canceled. Activities at 500 E 2nd St along with other offsite locations will continue as scheduled unless otherwise posted.
In addition, cancellation of programs will be determined by program supervisors as seen fit. Cancellations will be posted at: www.rararecreation.org, Facebook/Instagram (@RARArecreation), and for some programs, registered participants will be notified via email.
This class will teach the basics of soccer through fun and entertaining instruction. Players will learn the rules and basic techniques of soccer and use their skills in small sided games. This is an excellent way to spend quality time with your child while learning the love of soccer!

Welcome to the 49th Annual Greater Rochester Open! This is an unsanctioned tennis tournament for youth and adults with singles and doubles matches for all ages! Players are limited to 1 singles and 1 doubles registration or 2 doubles registrations. Players will provide their own USTA approved tennis balls each match. Balls will be provided for finals. All matches will be best 2 of 3 sets; 3rd set super tie-break all 12/14U will play pro sets. Tournament director: Jerry Murphy - 248-495-9370. We’re thrilled to introduce the Rochester Summer Youth Track Program, an exciting opportunity for young athletes in our community. This program is the perfect introduction to track and field, focusing on proper form, technique, and building a solid foundation for running and excelling in other sports. Participants will enjoy 18 expertly coached practices led by experienced high school track coaches and have the chance to compete in three professionally timed meets, with detailed results available online and in print for parents. We offer the Tiger Cubs classes for ages 4-5 yrs. This program offers young ones their first peek into martial arts. In this program, they will learn to develop motor skills while learning simple martial arts movements and techniques in a fun “no pressure” class. The Start Smart Move and Play program is a developmentally appropriate introductory fine and gross motor skills program for children 2-3 years old. Developing these motor skills in a safe, fun and age appropriate environment will ensure that the participants gain strength and confidence in their body. It will help them get exercise and physical activity. Finally, developing these skills will help a child’s ability to do more complex skills in future activities, whether it’s playing a sport, doing school projects or drawing/painting. Parent participation is required.

Batter Up! The RARA Adaptive Softball League is designed for players with special needs. Players will play against other communities, including Clarkston, Waterford, Lake Orion, and West Bloomfield! Players will practice each Tuesday, and games will be played on Thursdays starting in early June. RARA will have two teams, the RARA Rangers and the RARA All-Stars! Players from both teams will practice together, but be divided up into two separate teams for games once the season begins. All players will receive a jersey and a hat to be worn for games. Come join us for a summer of fun!

Beginner Judokas will learn to fall safely, as well as master the fundamentals of basic Judo (throwing and pinning; there are no kicks and punching) and can eventually earn belt ranks. Just wear long sleeve sweats tops and bottoms. Gis (uniforms) can be purchased from the instructor when the participant decides on a gi.

Major League Baseball Pitch Hit & Run is a free event that provides boys and girls -- ages 7 to 14 -- an opportunity to showcase their baseball and softball skills, while earning a chance to attend and perform during the MLB World Series! Athletes are tested, and their measurements are recorded. Based on their scores, they advance from a local event to a Team Championship held in MLB stadiums. Top scores then qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip for two to compete at Finals, which is hosted at the World Series.

Join us for this FREE event where spectators have a chance to check out all of our service vehicles and meet our great staff that operate these vehicles. Police, Fire and Rescue; Construction and Maintenance; along with many other vehicles will be there. We will have some food and program vendors, lawn games, and inflatables from Oakland County Parks for the kids to burn off their energy! More to come!

Gather a partner and test your puzzle-solving skills in this exciting event! Teams of 2 will race against each other to complete an identical 500-piece jigsaw puzzle. The theme will be unveiled at the start of the competition, so get ready for a challenge! Awards will be awarded to the top three teams. One registration per team is required.
