This document gives you an overview of Ranum Efterskole College’s* new logo and design profile.

It is the result of seven months design and development, involving past and current students, their parents and employees.

It is a collective impression of how our school will be portrayed in the coming years, reflecting and strengthening our ongoing focus on the international arena.

* We’ve changed our name to Ranum Efterskole College to accommodate the rest of the world

It is a set of guidelines and tools with an aim to both support and inspire each individuals desire to create.

Be it a letter, an email signature, a video film or a full page advertisement, consistency is the key to establishing a strong and credible brand.

Who should use these guidelines?

All employees who need to send an email, a letter, make a brochure etc. as well as external suppliers.

This is marked by a redesign of the world with us in the middle. A consistent use and central placement of logos, pictures and circular graphics enhances this throughout the design profile.

Our new logo is a further refinement of our previous version of the tree of life.

Aquamarine is our primary colour. Indigo comes in second whilst Orange is our “call to action colour”.

Silver and Anthracite are mainly used for text. Sunshine, Dark Magenta, Crimson, Teal, Lime, Sky and Black are secondary colours and mainly used to personalize email signatures, business cards or brochures.

Colour specs are in CMYK, PMS, RBG & HEX. COLOU R S P??

Accord Alternate font family is our corporate font, it fits perfectly with our logo, really looks great and is easy to read. Use it wherever possible. We also use Georgia Italic for quotes.

Værdigrundlag Efterskolens værdigrundlag er betinget af dette hovedsigte og kan i korte formuleringer udtrykkes således*: Vi vil danne og uddanne eleverne til at kunne indgå i en kompleksog foranderlig verden. Derfor arbejder vi med internationale uddannelser, globalisering og verdensborgerskab. Derfor rejser vi ud i verden op til 4 uger af skoleåret, samt lukker skolen op for gæsteelever og lærere fra hele verden.

Vi vil forberede eleverne til at kunne sætte sig egne mål i livet og træffe de valg, der fører til målet. Derfor har vi ikke linjer men to overordnede profiler: natursport og Imagination, som tilsammen med et interkulturelt perspektiv giver eleverne mulighed for at udvikle nye fag 3 gange i løbet af skoleåret. Derfor har vi en stærk innovations- og forandringskultur, som betyder at vi er en skole i udvikling med tiden.

Dannelses& læringsmodel Samspillet mellem de boglige fag, de praktiske, fysiske og kreative fag i profilfagene Imagination og Natursport danner sammen med en række interkulturelle aktiviteter et samvær mellem voksne og elever i et forpligtigende fællesskab på efterskolen.

Dette samvær kan beskrives ved 3 forhold: • det strukturerede, • det undervisende og • det vejledende samvær.

Elever og ansatte er aktørerne, skolens aktiviteter og undervisning er indholdet og rammerne udgøres af bygninger og undervisningsmateriel mv.

Vi prioriterer skolens udvikling i den anførte rækkefølge.

Visionen Visionen for dette samspil er: Vi vil være en stor skole og fortsat udvikle skolen, fordi det sikrer skolens mangfoldighed, elevernes valgmulighed, et dynamisk og progressivt læringsmiljø, samt overskud til at positionere, udvikle, samt vedligeholde efterskolen.

Vi vil fortsat tilbyde og styrke den prøveforberedende faglige og niveaudelte undervisning i 9. - 10. og samt udvikle skolen med Internationale klasser og et gymnasialt niveau i Ranum Efterskole College.

Vi vil fortsætte udvidelsen af den International dimension i skolen både kvalitativt og kvantitativt - under strategien ”Ranum ud i verden og verden ind i Ranum”.

Vi vil fortsætte udviklingen af og styrke skolens innovationsog frisættelseskultur, samt styrke og udvikle medarbejdernes faglige kompetencer.

Ethos & Mission Global Learning and Beyond The slogan for Ranum Efterskole College captures our underlying philosophies of “Inclusive Community and Learning” and “Participatory Democracy” as well as our vision of offering something more than the conventional.

It represents our unique combination of the Danish efterskole and the International Cambridge School, and it reflects our approach to global society. Moreover, and to some extent, more importantly, it is a guiding principle for how we conduct ourselves as a school - It shapes our behaviour, informs our decision-making, guides our policy-setting and maintains our focus.

Ethos The purpose of Ranum Efterskole is to operate a self-governing, independent international boarding school within the framework of existing rules on private boarding schools in Denmark. This obliges us to provide development for everyone through challenging activities in a safe setting, focusing on both the academic content and the personal well-being.

Learners are encouraged to maintain a balance between learning and a wide range of extracurricular subjects and activities, with sporting and cultural achievements valued equally. It is a primary objective to ensure that learners develop a healthy and quality based lifestyle.

Nature-sports and Imagination Ranum Efterskole has two thematic focuses that supports our approach to learning; • Nature-sports are a concatenation of nature experience and sport in nature, in the wild.

Nature becomes the learning environment, and sports the subject in which the learner develop a set of general competencies and skills.

• Imagination is a general expression for creativity through an imaginative learning.

Imagination is an educational process that provides insight into life, and puts the contemporaries in relief.

Ranum Efterskoles values are of sports and imagination as a key interface between creativity, art, culture, sports and nature. The school regard this interaction as a training and development process, in which the learners ultimately will dare to seek own boundaries and to express themselves as an individual in the community.

It requires knowledge, imagination, courage and tolerance to navigate in a complex and everchanging world. The interaction between nature sports and imagination creates a vibrant

and spirited learning environment that can help to provide the individual with the social and academic skills that is needed for success in a dynamic global society.

“Inclusive Community and Learning” and “Participatory Democracy” We strive to create a framework in which learners participate in decision-making, take responsibility for own personalised learning experience and personal development as well as interacting in our community. We believe that in order to prepare and empower our learners to the complex and dynamic world, it is a necessity that they live, learn, challenge, experience and push themselves. It is our responsibility to provide the support and encouragement, to create the safe and trustworthy setting, and facilitate a vision of being able. Moreover, we wish to demonstrate to our learners what it means to be one among many, what it means to be an individual with own needs and dreams in a larger community and what it means to contribute to society.

Our philosophies on “Inclusive Community and Learning” and “Participatory Democracy” are inherent features in school spirit and agenda. This is particularly evident in learners’ opportunities for co-management of extra-curricular activities as it is learners’ drive, creativity and imagination that determine subjects, themes, study travels and learning content. We have chosen this approach to inclusiveness, participation and democracy, because we ultimately believe the best way to learn is to experience!

This conversion of our philosophies into practical opportunities for co-management, underlines the uniqueness of Ranum Efterskole and Ranum Efterskole College – it is one of the most prominent features that distinguishes us from all other schools.

Brand essence What does individual, community, freedom, diversity, spaciousness & world citizenship mean to you in a Ranum Efterskole context?

This question was asked to past and present students and current employees through separate workshops and their answers were expressed in words, drawings and pictures. These have been summarised to the underlying definitions on the left.

These opinions have become a bearing ingredient in the creation of this design profile from the logo, to the typography, to the colours, to the pictures style and so on.

By the way... individual, community, freedom, diversity, spaciousness & world citizenship were chosen since they are some of the most expressed words in Ranum Efterskole’s communication literature.

This is has been implemented in the design profile by a consistent use of circles representing the earth together with a central placement of graphic elements such as logos, pictures and text.

We have even taken the liberty of re-positioning Ranum to be a little more central
