T h e Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society was founded in 1913.

In the sixty-four years since then, the Society has maintained public appearances sometimes three, generally twice and at least once each year in the principal theatres of Dublin.

T his must surely be a unique record for an am ateur society

A visit to the G aiety Theatre to see the R. & R. perform the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas is now a p a rt of the tradition of Musical Dublin. The same integrity, musicianship and precision that are brought to bear on the Savoy Operas are also to be seen in their productions of the large-scale musical comedies.

T h e Feis Ceoil Committee have a long and happy association with the R. & R. In 1946 the Society presented a Cup to be awarded annually a t the Feis for the best performance of a song from any light Opera. This has been and continues to be a popular competition.
