As many people know, over the years Blackberry phones have taken a hit. A downfall which is so bad that it killed consumer and investor confidence so much that the stock price dropped to near nothing and they made Blackberry Messenger and other key Blackberry apps available on
other device operating systems as survival mechanisms. In fact, when purchased on the stock market, it was a stable, high margin stock and now it fluctuates in and out of margin-able range.
Research inMotion got rid of the founders co-ceo pairing for just one, then sold off sections of the business and even had huge layoffs because consumers had more options and legendary Blackberry phones were not able to keep up, even after theyreleased the PlaybookTablet.
When I looked deeper into this problem, from changing the company name and it's stock ticker symbol all the way to the government, rightfully so, not letting Blackberry Security to be sold to Samsung this had more to do with the timing of the errors than anything else. This was not an organizational behavior issue or a technical mishap or anything other than the larger consumer market playing a major role in killing consumer and investor confidence while Blackberry/Research in Motion devices not being able to compete. This lack in consumer and investor confidence took a huge hit when the competition targeted the larger consumer user base, from kids to seniors while, the the smaller "professional" user market which typically governs the survival of the worlds most used mobile business communication device, Blackberry, all went into the background to these outside forces in a competitive sector -while mobile technology focused on a hungry consumer market.
Even with these attacks and hits taken by the Blackberry brand, it has failed to die. I call it the Canadian Dream -for the first time in many many years, a Canadian product which took over the world with it's purposeful existence, has not only survived, but it has shown, that the strategy and positioning which it is in now, has shown just how versatile and important the existence of Blackberry really is.

Below are some reasons as to why this firm may never die. There are 4 major factors which make it impossible to destroy at this point in time.
The People Who Use Blackberry are important pieces ofhuman evolution andsurvival Blackberry devices and Blackberry servers are still preferred and heavily used by most Fortune500 companies and western governments like the United States of America.
There is the famous Harvard Business Rule 20-70-10 where the middle 70% is the massive consumer market. This "Middle 70" is also who use non BlackBerry phones for themselves not necessarily in their professional lives until recently. The the top 20% (top 2 out 10, give or take) are these massive firms and governments who aren't letting it go because these massive corporations need the Blackberry Infrastructure.
Why are these top firms and government in the world not letting go of Blackberry? Letmetellyouwhy: 1. Nothing beats Blackberry Security
2. Theinfrastructureisinplaceandworkinginmostlargeenterprisefirmsandleading governmentsaroundtheworld 3. Other mobile devices can now link to Blackberry Server, making BBM and Blackberry Security workable in an environment which has other options
4. Works with Microsoft Server OS which is the preferred Server OS in the world's top companies and government. What happens ifsomeone else gets something like it or better? It might happen but you'd need to get the important clients on board which won't happen unless you're an American firm or an ally of the USA.Then if you want to sell Research in Motion / Blackberry -it has to pass legislation in the Canadian government because the world's Top Governments, Top Businesses, Top Organizations pretty much all use it. So it has to be allies with the USA and Canada as well as the Common Wealth nations.
How does it survive and how has it lasted so long? Because the product works, keeps getting better and Investor Confidence and Consumer Confidence don't tell the full picture.
So lastly, after these 4 points, why does investor confidence not reside in Blackberry stock? If a publicly traded mineral company stock can be nothing but asoccer field, I'm sure someone smart will start investing in Blackberry because their last 3 phones and some organizational structural changes caused the product and company to perform better while still, many of the biggest free-enterprise and governmentgroups are NOT walking away!
I have a contact, I share my views about Blackberry with him sometimes. He works for Blackberry and we've been telling each other allthis for years BUT before I told him, his existence as an employee of Research in Motion, and over all these years, showed to me that this ship hasn't sunk and nor will it. Don't get me wrong, I bought my mom an iPhone because she's a busy grandmother and housewife who retired 15 years ago BUT nearly all my managers at Fortune500 shops and government, use Blackberry.
