Principal Cheryl Jones: At East Linden and we're working on our school culture. As the administrator, it is an expectation that we exhibit positive behaviors and support one another in a collaborative way. It is important during this 2019-2020 school year, that we continue to build and brand our school culture; and making sure that this is a positive environment for children staff students in our greater East Linden community. I look forward to working with the staff at East Linden, along with our East Linden School community to develop better ways to nurture support our learning environment.

Michele Reese's Response Hello my name is Michelle Reese, I'm a teacher here at East Linden Elementary school, I teach English as a second language. I want the students here to see that they can learn about the world from each other. We have such a diversity of cultures here. I also want them to feel empowered as citizens who can make a difference in this world. Rebecca Wolfe's Response Hello my name is Rebecca Wolf. I'm a first grade teacher here at E Linden Elementary. I feel it's important within my classroom and throughout our billing to develop a culture of inclusion where everyone feels like they were part of the team, everyone has something to contribute and everyone is important. Whether you are student a teacher or parent, or a member of our staff. We all contribute to our goal of success for everyone. I also want each member of our building, each person in our building, to feel supported and to provide support to one another, especial with our students. When someone's down, someone needs a little help or support; were there to give it to them, in a positive way. It's it's very important that we all build each other up, so that we can reach our goal of success.

Sydnee L's Response Hi I’m miss Leathers here and I'm a second grade teacher here at East Linden. And basically, the culture that I would like to see here, the school year would be positive, engaging trauma informed and collaborative. I just want the school to be an area or a place where students and families can come and feel comfortable and also know that the environment is set up for the best learning possible to take place.

Collin Staples's Response Good evening. My name is Collin Staples, I work for East Linden Elementary. One of the things that came up in our meeting today was about the culture that we want to have in our school. I believe that if we're going to be successful with this next generation, that we have to have love that's unconditional. I believe that the people got to get along there, we gotta look past skin color and anything that can hinder us from helping these kids. Our biases, our racist, our negativity; we got to have unconditional love.

Colleen M's Response Hi my name is Colleen McCullough. I am a third grade teacher here at East Linden Elementary. T he culture that I look forward to at E London is one of cooperativeness.

By cooperativeness I'm talking about not just students learning from teachers, but teachers also learning from students. I think that's one of the most important things that we can offer to each other is the willingness to listen and to learn from others; not just by our words, but also by our actions. And we also need to be open minded and receptive to new ideas.

Toija Bell's Response Hello and Welcome to, I can't believe I'm saying it, the 2019 -2020 school year. I am Mrs Bell, an instructional assistant here at East Linden Elementary. A word that I would like to see put into action is “positive;” whether it's from staff to staff, or staff to student, or student. When I think about the culture of our school, I think about the amazing diverse student body that we have here and about how happy they are to come to school everyday. How they come in the building with smiles on their faces and they skip down the hall to class in the morning... And I think that's because they know that when they're in this building that every member of our staff is completely dedicated and committed to the success of every one of them; whether it's their homeroom teacher, a specialist, the custodians. T he principal and tutors were all completely committed to the success of everyone of our kids and they know it; and it shows. I would like to see the teachers enforce directions and I like to see their teachers, following this as well.. And think if you can give the kids at East Linden hope, you can give him anything. Just remember is not all about us, is about someone else.
