Elvis makes it a point to help them in any way that he can and treats them like family as opposed to a number and just one of his drivers,” Colby points out. ”We come from a place that was heavily affected by the war in the early 90’s, so we are used to not having anything,” shares Elvis. “For years, our family was close to being homeless. That is why we work so hard to achieve the dreams that we once believed were unachievable. That is probably why I like German luxury cars so much. I used to watch our president drive in them on television,” Elvis jokes. “That was a sign of success.”

“In my eyes, Volvo is a luxury tractor and it resembles a lot of the features, looks and styles that a Mercedes, BMW, or Audi would have and I believe in the saying, “You get what you pay for.”

My first truck was a 2007 Brand X and it almost ran me out of business due to constant breakdowns and repairs. That was a very hard lesson to learn. I saved up for six months to purchase a 2007 Volvo which gave me no issues. Moving to the Volvo product helped me save up funds to purchase another one, and another one, and here we are…50 Volvos later. I will only buy Volvos, and currently have another 10 new trucks on pre-order,” says Elvis. “We believe that Volvo provides the most reliable truck in the market. The combination of the Bruckner’s service staff, the Volvo uptime model, and a great product helps to keep our drivers on the road. Working with Bruckner’s has been a smooth experience. The team is very helpful and informative. They truly care about us and are always available to us with anything that we may need,” explains Elvis.

THE YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR LIFESTYLE Elvis says he stays quite busy running his own company.

“It’s a 24/7 kind of thing. Calls, emails, deals, emergencies, and problems don’t stop when the office is closed,” he shares. When not in the office, Elvis is serving his other role as a husband and father of three children. “It isn’t always easy and you have to want the lifestyle that comes along with it. The work can take over your life and if it’s not something that you like or truly want for your life, it can only make things extremely hard for you. There are many sacrifices. Time is definitely one of them. Your health due to worry and stress are others. Balancing career and family can be quite challenging.”

KEYS TO SUCCESS - HARD WORK PAYS OFF

Elvis motivates himself by the quote, “Don’t let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning.”

Elvis keeps focus on continuing to practice goal setting, time management and good communication. “These are some of the key elements that drive success for our business,” Elvis says. “Goals are the most important factor.

I like to constantly set short and long term goals. Every day there is a new goal to be made and achieved. This allows us to plan for the future and bring success to our business. Once we have reached a goal, we want to already have another one waiting in the works. Communication is also another key element to our company’s success. We must know how to communicate with all types of people.”

EURO UNITED, LLC “Having a good team around you and utilizing your resources is imperative,” Elvis shares. “I had the opportunity to meet and work with many great people in the trucking industry throughout the years. Some of these same people helped me grow and develop Euro United.” Elvis prides himself on hiring people who will be a good fit for his company and care about its success as much as he does.

“Having a team around you that cares about the company’s success and helps you get there – that’s priceless,” says Elvis.

“We have grown and gained respect in the industry by providing services to some of the largest brokerage companies in the nation, and we are very proud of that. As a team, we work relentlessly to continuously evolve and provide the best services for our customers as well as provide great job opportunities for our drivers,” states Elvis. “We have grown significantly to currently employ 42 drivers and have 8 administrators on staff.”

LESSONS LEARNED “To be successful, sometimes you also have to fail first.

Mistakes aren’t bad and failures are necessary for a business to grow,” says Elvis. “I made a mistake in the beginning by buying older equipment and I quickly learned that having newer equipment kept my TCO down. So in reality, in the beginning I was wasting a lot of money on repairs and downtime. I learned the hard way but soon discovered that I could finance trucks and equipment over a longer period of time. I could also keep my payments the same and have my new equipment under warranty.

Changing my business model allowed me to continue to grow my business quickly. Given the chance to do it

over again, the only thing that I would do differently is to have cut my expenses early on. I would have purchased newer trucks instead of older ones and saved money that way. All in all though, it’s ok to make those mistakes in the beginning as long as you learn from them.” Elvis offers this advice to any young person who dreams of staring their own business: “Dream big and never give up. Set goals and work towards them every day. Don’t let small setbacks ruin your motivation and direction. Lastly, find something that you love and stick to it through the good and bad times. You will see success through your hard work.”
