CELEBRATING 85 YEARS And the Gritty Road to Get There Bruckner Truck Sales is embarking on another monumental year marking our 85th year in business. Of those 85 years, Bruckner’s has been a Mack dealer for 69 years since 1948 and a Volvo dealer since 2002.

“We are overjoyed to be celebrating our 85th year,” says Chris Bruckner, Executive Vice President, Bruckner Truck Sales. “Mack and Volvo Trucks have helped us remain successful in our business, and we are proud to be one of the oldest family-owned Mack dealerships in North America.”

Building on Tradition

The history of Bruckner Truck Sales explains a lot about the company’s philosophy and commitment to customer service. B.M. “Bennie” Bruckner, Sr. founded Bruckner’s Garage in Amarillo, Texas in 1932. With a strong sense of determination, ingenuity, marketing brilliance and overall commitment to serving customers at the highest level, Ben Sr. established a business that has prospered. Even during the early years, Bennie believed in the value of hiring “good people” who were equally committed to providing a high level of customer service. His philosophy provided inspiration to his son, Ben Bruckner Jr., who passed in 2012.

Today, the legacy of strong leadership continues to inspire Ben Jr’s two sons, Brian and Chris Bruckner, as they lead the company forward. As Bruckner’s continues to expand its footprint across the Southwest, the families’ core values remain at the center of all business decisions.

In 1998, Bruckner Truck Sales acquired a fifth location in Wichita Falls, Texas. In October 2016, Wichita Falls completed the Mack and Volvo Uptime Center certifications and was the first dealership in the nation to score a perfect 100%!

In October 2001, the Permian Mack group of 3 dealerships was acquired, with locations in Odessa, Texas; Hobbs, New Mexico; and Farmington, New Mexico. This signified Bruckner’s expansion into New Mexico territory.

“Grit is a description that fit my grandfather and my father very well. Not to mention that they were both men of passion and perseverance. My grandfather was not necessarily the smartest or best looking guy; and he only had a 4th grade formal education. Bennie Bruckner did not have much, but he did have a lot of grit. That ultimately led him to success in business and in life. In March 2002, Bruckner Truck Sales opened a 9th location in Tye, Texas.

In 2008, Dallas Mack on Irving Blvd in Dallas, Texas was acquired. Shortly after, Bruckner’s also opened BTE Body Company that specializes in refuse, construction, fuel/lube and other specialized bodies.

In June 2010, coverage in New Mexico was expanded with the acquisition of a Mack & Volvo dealership in Albuquerque.

South of Fort Worth, Bruckner Truck Sales opened a parts only location in Cleburne, Texas in 2008.

This same year, a parts location was also opened in Bridgeport, Texas to better serve customers in the Fort Worth area.

In January 2011, Oklahoma coverage was expanded with the acquisition of our Volvo dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Then in the Fall of the same year, with a need to better support our customers between OKC and DFW, a parts-only location was opened in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

In May 2011, Bruckner Truck Sales expanded into a fourth state with the acquisition of Hays Mack Sales & Service. With this acquisition, we have not only been able to continue the Mack presence but also introduce Volvo trucks, parts, and service to western Kansas.

In May 2012, a new location opened off I-20 and Lancaster Blvd in Dallas, Texas.

This Bruckner location was the first to earn Mack and Volvo Uptime certification in April 2016 and was recently featured in Volvo Group magazine for their commitment and dedication to the Uptime process.

In October 2012, United Diesel in San Angelo, Texas, was aquired as another Bruckner location.

In June 2012, Bruckner Truck Sales expanded into a fifth state with the acquisition of Colorado Mack in Denver, Colorado, yielding service for Mack customers in eastern Colorado and southeastern Wyoming.

After a major renovation in April 2016, we moved to a larger facility on Brighton Road in Commerce City, Colorado (just 6 miles north of the previous facility).

With our expansion into Colorado the previous year, Bruckner’s saw the need to support our customers south of Denver. In October 2013, a satellite location was opened in Colorado Springs.

In March 2015, Bruckner Truck Sales acquired two Louisiana dealerships as we expanded into the 6th state of coverage: Louisiana Truck Supply (Monroe) and Shreveport Mack Sales.

Mack Truck Sales of Tulsa was acquired in October 2015. With this acquisition, Bruckner’s is able to serve more customers in Eastern Oklahoma, having both Volvo and Mackspecific dealerships in Tulsa.

Our Greeley, Colorado location was also opened in October 2015, with the purpose of better supporting customers in northeast Colorado.

A void in Garden City, Kansas was filled by receiving Kansas Truck Parts & Service into the Bruckner family in April of 2016.

Amends the FMVSS on air brake systems to improve the stopping distance performance of truck tractors. The rule requires the vast majority of new heavy truck tractors to achieve a 30 percent reduction in stopping distance compared to currently required levels. For these heavy truck tractors (approximately 99 percent of the fleet), the amended standard requires those vehicles to stop in not more than 250 feet when loaded to their gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and tested at a speed of 60 miles per hour (mph). For a small number of very heavy severe service tractors, the stopping distance requirement will be 310 feet under these same conditions. In addition, this final rule requires that all heavy truck tractors must stop within 235 feet when loaded to their “lightly loaded vehicle weight” (LLVW).
