OLD FASHIONED TREATS MEET A SWEET NEW RIDE Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is an international franchisor, confectionery manufacturer and retail operator in the US, Canada, Philippines, South Korea, and Panama. The company is based in the charming historical town of Durango located on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains in southwestern Colorado. In 1981, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory opened its first candy store in Durango over Memorial Day weekend, incorporated in 1982 and went public in 1985 trading on the NASDAQ exchange under the symbol “RMCF”. From its 53,000 sf factory, RMCF manufactures an extensive line of premium chocolate candies and other confectionery products to supply its more than 350 retail franchise locations worldwide. Annually the factory produces over two and a half million pieces of chocolate in 500 different varieties of candies and other confectionery products, using proprietary recipes. These products include many varieties of clusters, caramels, creams, mints, truffles and molded chocolates many still made by hand. During holiday seasons, additional items and specially designed packaged candies are also made. The RMCF core value is: We make chocolate fun, and we care. Individual stores prepare a variety of caramel and candy apples, fudge, chocolate items and confections in full view of the customer using traditional cooking utensils such as hand-forged copper kettles on gas-fired stoves and 500lb marble slab cooling tables reinforcing the quality and freshness of the products. The RMCF stores are found in four primary environments: factory outlet malls, tourist areas, regional malls and street fronts.

“The number one factor is the quality of the product,” says Frank Crail, President and CEO. Items are delivered fresh by a fleet of nine refrigerated trucks which now recently includes seven Volvo VNL 860’s with another two currently on order. This will be a 100% conversion to running all Volvo Trucks in their fleet. “Transportation is critical to the success of our business,” says Mike Anderson, RMCF
Frank Crail, RMCF President and CEO, had a dream to start a business of his own and raise his family in a quiet small mountain town. According to Crail, “I never imagined that in my search for a place to raise a family things would turn out so sweet!”

Uptime is imperative as deliveries must be made as scheduled,” Mike emphasizes. Greg Pope, Senior VP of Franchise Development stresses the importance of product image. “Our new Volvo trucks are a rolling billboard for our company,” says Greg. “Rocky Mountain Chocolates are a premium product and that image needs to be carried forward in the trucks transporting our goods,” he adds. Greg and Mike agree that the new Volvo VNL 860 provides that distinguished representation they were wanting.

Driver comfort is equally important as they strive to attract and retain the best drivers available for their dedicated routes. “Our drivers are happy and like the new Volvo’s. They have had to change their driving habits somewhat and adapt and learn to drive a little differently with all of the safety features, but they do like the transition to the Volvo trucks. They are extremely quiet and comfortable with lots of interior room,” says Mike. Their 860’s offer many other driver amenities that include a work station, parking cooler, parking heater, large refrigerator and LED lights. Safety features such as Volvo Active Driver Assist (VADA) prevent drivers from following too closely, and helps to maintain a constant safe distance between the truck and vehicles in front of them. Fleet costs have decreased as drivers are reporting that their fuel mileage has been increased significantly. RMCF driver, Leon Hughes, shares that he is getting an entire extra day of fuel per run as compared to his previous make and model. Mike reports that he is 100% completely satisfied with the sales process and the service that they receive at Bruckner Truck Sales of Farmington. Road Choice offers asbestos-free woven organic and sintered copper materials of high friction properties, resulting in low wear and high reliability. Test results show a high coefficient of friction (COF), which increases torque capacity.
FIBER BRAKE SPACER
Shipped free of charge in every new Road Choice clutch unit, this spacer is essential to achieve brake squeeze when the flywheel has been resurfaced.
STATE-OF-THE-ART ASSEMBLY
Every Road Choice clutch unit is shipped as a “serialized” matched unit and digitally recorded to the specific serial number.
CAST COVER REPLACEMENT
Road Choice offers a cast cover replacement for the medium-duty clutch.
