Welcome to

Welcome to our 2025 commercial bred heifer sale. It goes without saying the strength of this cattle industry. Part of that strength is in cull cows. In today’s market climate, no poor producing or open female should be walking anyones pastures. Cashing in and replacing that female today can help ensure you are taking full advantage of these $4000 weaned calves next fall. A few exciting changes and additions come to this years sale. New in 2025 we have added a group of strong powerful January bred heifers. These females were AI bred on our timed program and never saw any bull exposure. For anyone looking for a tight bred group for possible future recips, have a peak here. We have moved the March bred heifer portion of our sale to mid December. This gives these females some more days to develop while allowing cattle producers who do calve later to work through weaning, preg checking cows and finishing getting feed in the yard prior to making bred heifer decisions going into 2026. These March breds will be on display during our open house in October. New this year we have added the Sisters from Different Misters sale. These heifer calves and Angus embryos represent an offering of our purebred herd. Heifers will be tie broke and some will be entered at Farm Fair International. A full scope of information from EPDs to sire verification will be included on each female in the offering.
On these bred heifers back in the fall of 2024 we landed the largest number we have to date. All females came in farm direct. We sourced them from top end producers. From the buy to trucking to settling the calves in the yard here at home, we oversaw all aspects of production. The larger number of total head gave us the ability to dig deep into the group to find the very best ones to breed. All females were vet inspected prior to breeding. We inspected the heifers for confirmation

and made sure to cut anyone with a personality or attitude we would not work with here at our own ranch. Our direct to consumer beef program has been growing over the last few years and the need for cattle to fill that market works extremely well to ensure any heifers that do not meet the quality standards we are searching for in our breeding females find a home in our direct to consumer program.
As in past years we have been so fortunate to use our PayWeight and Tribute Angus bulls that are walking herd sires here at DRSS to AI breed these heifers to. These bulls have proven calving ease while ensuring the growth we require prior to weaning in the fall. If you followed the pedigrees in our spring bull sale or in the SFDM sale you will see their pedigrees show up in those cattle highlighting that we not only market these genetics to you but use them within our own herd. Unfortunately, we lost our PM Tribute 128’20 bull to injury back in this spring. We are so fortunate to have a good stock of his semen in the tank along with a few direct sons that we can use during cleanup. If you are able to join us for our open house in October, make sure to check out PM PayWeight 157’19 at the farm. He just seems to look better every year as he ages.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our operation since the start. We are extremely excited for the future at DRSS we are positioned to continue to improve the quality of cattle on offer and the quality of service we want to provide to the producers we work with. Late September we will have these females home from their summer grazing. Feel free to reach out at anytime with questions or set up a time to come take a tour. We hope to see everyone at our open house Oct 26th. We will have some great smoked DRSS brisket!

Nutrition Program
All females run on a year-round mineral/nutritional program to help with fertility early in the breeding season along with fetal programing closer to calving. A strong healthy calf with a female that breeds back is our goal. We start our nutritional planning prior to seeding a crop. We rotate our fields with Corn silage and a heavy Pea/Barley silage. The balance of these two forages helps give us the protein these heifers require along with the total energy as well. A complete balanced mineral program with chelates and elevated selenium round out our program. Read up on our full vaccination program below. We follow up with our Veterinary team every year to make sure we give these females everything they require prior to heading to their new homes.

Buy Back Program
A big focus for us has been sourcing more heifer calves each fall. We look for all sizes to fit our different breeding times. We look for nice sorted packages and work closely with producers to put groups together every fall. The main focus is breeding type females that can fill our commercial heifer program. People that source bulls from us please reach out and let us know what you have to offer.

3.
How to Bid
Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.
Place Next Bid
to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.
Max
Bid Amount
to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions, your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller.
Example of How the Max Bid Works
If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.
4. Watch List Feature
If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list, you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.
5.
Sale Ending / Closeout
Most Farm Gate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding.
What is Racehorse Style Close?
Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.
How will Extended Bidding works?
When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.
6. Bidding Close & Follow-up
After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions.
Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale Manager and/or Sale Consignor.

DRAS 528N was what we believe to be the strongest heifer calf off our embryo program this year. This heifers dam has proven herself to be one of our very best Angus females here at DRSS. Over her last two flushes she has frozen an average of 18 embryos/flush. We have past sons of hers walking our pastures today. Her pedigree shows up in many females you will see over the coming years. Our high selling lead off bull in our 2025 Chosen One Bull sale was a direct son of this heifers dam who sold to Meunier Livestock of Barrhead AB. After seeing some amazing Revival sons at Belvin Angus we felt flushing 53’19 Revival would provide us the outcome we were looking for. Seeing 528N proves that. A deep sided, smooth fronted made female. She has a great mind about her and should have a great show carrier ahead of her while not giving up anything to make her a front pasture breeding female in the future. Entered at FarmFair International.

We were excited to use some SAV Certified for some of what he brought to the table genetically. Increased growth and the addition of a little more frame to this dams more moderate structure. This heifers damn 105F has hit it out of the park year after year. We have seen daughters of 105F go into a few herds for both show females, but more importantly have turned into great productive cows. We sold a maternal sister to this calf in Angus Collections a few years ago to Willow Valley Angus. Calm nature, soft footed and long bodied. We have been excited to see 105F calve every year.

We AI bred a good chunk of females to May City last year after seeing some daughters over at our friends Steve and Trisha Clough’s of Willow Valley Angus. Moderate made, smooth front end, soft middled. This heifer is perfect for a junior exhibitor. We are excited to get weaning weights on all our May City daughters as I believe they will be second to none. This heifer is just off a first calving female. The dam of this calf goes back to a great cross including our herd sire PM Tribute 128’20. We were sad to loose Tribute to injury this past spring, but his legacy will live on through females like this. Dylan Fuller who is looking after our tie up heifers and show cattle called this one his pick of the sale. Just a note. He also said that about two other females in the sale!

Another great Revival daughter. We had the opportunity to purchase 523N’s dam as an open heifer from Rio Grande Angus a few years ago. She was the high selling female that year in their bull sale. Long bodied, nice Angus head, soft middled. Watch this heifer get out and travel. Great hind leg structure. Look back into this heifers pedigree to find Natural Law. Like many producers we have had great success with Natural Law.

DRAS 522N is a perfect junior heifer project. Super quiet. One of Dylan’s picks in the sale. Again, just off a first calf heifer. The pedigree of this female pulls in so many of our top end genetics. The sire of this calf is a direct son of Conley South Point off our 153’19 donor female. We love to see PM Payweight 157’19 show up on the top end of the pedigree of this heifers dam. Further down in this sale you will see some embryos off the 153’19 cow on offer. Take a peak here to see that 153’19 dam in this pedigree.

Another May City daughter. Again off a first calf heifer going back to PM Tribute 128’20. This heifer doesn’t have the right personality to be a show heifer but will be a great maternal cow. She is great to work with in the field or in the barn running her through the system to work with. Lots of flex and good structure. Great middle and really nice hair.

A little something different here. A non registered show potential female that goes back to one of our Maine Anjou females. This heifers dam goes back to a cow we call Big Momma. Back when we were breeding more Maine cows the dam of this heifer was one of our very best. We drug this heifers dam all the way to the National Western Stock Show in Denver as a bred heifer. Crossing her with a new Angus walking herd sire here at our operation. This cross just really seemed to work. Great structure, long bodied and a maternal look. This heifer doesn’t come with papers but we have the registered pedigree on both top and bottom for multiple generations back. Have some fun going down the road or just looking for your next top end commercial female.

The growth we have seen so far has been second to none. We are excited to wean these Judgement sons and see them on feed. Going back to our 53’19 cow. Piles of length, great dimension. Top quality udder structure. 53’19 has proven to be extremely fertile. We have AI bred her every year and she has managed to stick any way we breed her. I remember back when Alcatraz first arrived at Alta Genetics and Terry White saying how impressed he was with that bull when they started collecting him. For whatever reason we just never found ourselves in a position of using this sire. By chance we were able to lock up some semen and decided to flush 153’19. 153’19 is a cow with that great Angus look. We love the front end on this female while not giving up any mass or power, with a great udder. This female has just been quietly doing great things in our herd. This past spring we sat down and found 153’19 pedigree show up in female after female within our own herd. On this flush she froze 22 embryos and we decided to share in this females potential. Selling one package of 3 embryos. One pregnancy quaranteed when implanted by certified technician. Stored at BovaTech eligible for CAN, USA
