I’d like to take this time to welcome everyone to the Inaugural “Service Driven” Bull & Female Sale at McWherter Farms. On behalf of Mike McWherter and family and the rest of our M/V crew, we are honored to have you here to evaluate our offering.

Since my arrival in the fall of 2013, we have worked diligently to build a program and brand we think is worthy of standing with the best. We have kept the doors shut for the most part as we prepared for this. We have offered small groups of bulls and females from time to time throughout the years but have never presented an offering of this size. We believe our time is now.

Our goal at McWherter is to become to Southeast’s most soughtafter destination for high quality Angus bulls. Since we have put an emphasis on bulls, we have focused long and hard on building our cow herd. Acquiring genetics that will help us in meeting our goals of producing Angus bulls that excel in the traits that matter, has been a main priority for us. Have we completed that quest?

No, but we are getting better. This offering shows it could stand toe-to-toe with other offerings. Kicking off the 2020 spring born bulls is a calf that we truly think is special; so special that we gave him a name that means so much to so many people, M/V Ned 018. Ned Ray McWherter was a special man, a powerful man, a man that earned the attention of everyone, and a true advocate for Tennessee and Tennessee agriculture. M/V Ned 018 carries those similar qualities in his own way. He’s massive and powerful in his making and he gathers all the attention from on-lookers.

While carrying an impressive set of EPDs and ratios, “Ned” is the complete package!

Along with “Ned”, were offering nearly 30 other 2020 spring born bulls. Many of these bulls are sired by the likes of Musgrave Exclusive, TEX Playbook, Southern Charm, Bar R Jet Black, and others. We’ll also be offering a small group of true 2-year-old bulls. This will be our first time testing this market. We’ve been listening to our customers and fellow producers, and the need for a more aged bull seems to be the trend. These bulls were born in the fall of 2019 and have been slow grown until now. Spending much of their life on grass, and corn silage when needed, these bulls have a ton of life left to them. These are true aged bulls that are ready to go to work for you this winter. We definitely feel as if you will be impressed by this set!

Our female offering is one we are extremely proud to offer, but also sad to see sell at the same time. I’ve always thought if we are going to be successful in the Angus business, we will consistently

need to offer our best. Well, here they are, and they are good and young! We’re moving the vast majority of everything 5 years and younger. It’s a combination of the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 calf crops. We’ve sorted and resorted on this group numerous times to make sure we have put together the right set. All of these females will be bred to calve in the spring of 2022 and sell either A.I. or pasture bred to the likes of BJ Surpass, Musgrave Exclusive, Basin Deposit, and our own T/D Doubt Now and T/D The Plow!

We also have a really special offering of a heifer calf from a mating that will never happen again! A fall born heifer from the now deceased, Jet SS X144, the dam of Select Sires rockstar, SS Niagara Z29. Sired by the ever-popular Hoover No Doubt N68.

T/D Jet 0518 is a rare offering from the heart of the T/D Angus at Rishel Ranch and McWherter Farms fall calf crop. 0518 has the pedigree and potential to be a donor female for years to come!

Finally, thank you for your interest in our program. The cattle industry is hard more days than not, but we do it because we are called to, and the friends, colleagues, and partners we’ve gained along the way, truly make this career something special. I have a best friend that says, “The cattle industry is the only industry that makes a paddle big enough for everybody’s ass.” This could not be more true. Terms & Conditions:

Settlement is expected sale day unless prior arrangements are made before the sale.

All cattle sell under the terms conditions as recommended by the American Angus Association.

Fertility & Pregnancy Testing / Herd Health: All bulls selling have been fertility tested, vaccinated, and tested BVDPI Negative.

All females selling have been pregnancy checked by a competent veterinarian and are called safe to the A.I. or pasture dates as best as can be determined by advanced palpation. In respect to A.I. dates, they are not unconditionally guaranteed, other than the fact they are pregnant.

All cattle will be accompanied by proper health certificates for immediate shipment.

Retained Interest:

McWherter Farms will retain 1/3 semensharing revenue interest in all bulls selling.

The buyer has full possession and 100% of the salvage value of the bull. In the event that McWherter Farms want semen on any bull selling in the sale, semen for our use would be collected in the off-breeding season at your convenience and at our expense.

Insurance:

The option for insurance is available at the clerk’s desk.

Guarantee:

All bulls selling are guaranteed against breeding injury for the first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 60-day period following the first turnout of the bulls. Please notify us as soon as possible when an injury occurs and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. Credit for the amount of the purchase price minus the salvage value will be given in next year’s bull sale. This guarantee does not include death loss. Mortality insurance is available sale day.

Liability:

All persons attending the McWherter Farms sale do so at their own risk. McWherter Farms assumes no liability, legal, or otherwise, for any accident that might occur on or about the premises.

Delivery/Trucking:

McWherter Farms will offer free delivery nationwide on all bull purchases. We take advantage of this time to be able to visit our customers, see your operations, understand your program, and how McWherter Farms can assist you in achieving your goals. Our goal is to complete all deliveries by the middle of November. In the event any bulls need to stay later than that please make contact with Patterson to discuss those options.

Reproduction Herd Work

M/V customers can purchase semen and certificates from any bull solely owned by McWherter Farms for half of the normal price.

Example: T/D Doubt Me Now 0171 - $30/straw normally. $15/straw customer price.

When the time comes to market your calves whether registered, commercial, bulls, steers, or heifers allow us to try and help you retrieve the maximum dollar possible. We’ve worked hard to cultivate great relationships throughout in the industry allowing us to move cattle into many different markets.

The M/V team is happy to assist with any of your reproduction needs. Whether helping you pick the right protocol for you operation, or with the actual breeding of your cattle. We’re here to assist you in any way at no cost to you.

The late Ned Ray McWherter was a special man, very well respected and a strong advocate of the state of Tennessee. His legacy carries on and that is very exciting. Manager Patterson Freeman, his family and crew do an outstanding job.

Patterson’s passion and knowledge of the Angus business is impressive. He is dedicated, knows how to manage and breed cattle, and it shows in the depth of this sale.

This son of Musgrave 316 Exclusive offers low birth, high growth with excellent carcass genetics and he will be a great addition to any program.
