TOMMIE L. ROGERS WAS BORN AND RAISED in Abbeville, Louisiana and is the son of Effie Rogers and the late J.C. “Black” Rogers, also of Abbeville. Tommie is married to Janice Fortner Rogers, with whom he has four lovely daughters and 10 grandchildren.

Dr. P.O. Landry and Tommie’s grandfather, Chon Broussard, introduced Tommie to the world of animals and open land as a young boy. He spent countless days playing “Rawhide” in the open fields of Delcambre. These early childhood experiences solidified Tommie’s desire to pursue his love of land and animals. Tommie’s bond with his father was one of mutual respect and understanding – his father instilled in him, from a young age, the will to never give up on your dreams; quitting was not an option. Tommie attributes his success to his father’s example of hard work, integrity and honor. Like his father, Tommie firmly believes these principles are the key to success.

Upon graduating from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Tommie ventured into the oil industry working for several service companies in the Gulf of Mexico. In the late ’70s, he started his own oil tool service company, Rogers Oil Tools Services, Inc. where he was the owner and president for 30 years. As a result of his innovative ideas and ambition Tommie lead Rogers Oil Tools Services, Inc. into an internationally respected brand.

While pursuing a career in the oil industry, Tommie was presented with the opportunity to buy land and live out a childhood dream. In 1982 Tommie bought his first piece of land in the town of Branch, Louisiana. With just six cows, he began a second career in the cattle industry by establishing The Branch Ranch. He was determined to build a successful cattle operation. As his daughters matured, Tommie introduced them to the cattle industry through the 4-H program, where he supported them with beef cattle for their projects. For about 12 years Tommie and his daughters traveled around the country showing Brangus cattle.

Through the years, Tommie developed valuable relationships with area cattlemen as well as cattlemen throughout the country. The condition and value of his animals, as well as the honesty of his opinion, afforded him the respect of cattlemen everywhere.

Tommie served as President of the Louisiana Brangus Breeders Association (LBBA) for eight years, during which time he

also served on the board of directors and chaired various committees and research programs with the International Brangus Breeders Association (IBBA). Tommie expanded his interest in the Brangus industry even further when he served as President of the IBBA from 1999 to 2000. In the midst of it all, The Branch Ranch outgrew its original location in Branch, Louisiana. In 1996 Tommie moved the Ranch to its current location in Mansfield, Louisiana. The new property provided ample space for Tommie’s cattle operation, as well as room for expansion. The Branch Ranch continued to grow and in 2003, the Louisiana Cattle Festival and Fair named Tommie Rogers Outstanding Cattleman of the Year.

Big changes came for Tommie and The Branch Ranch in 2007 when he sold Rogers Oil Tools Services, Inc, which he owned and operated for more than 30 years. With more time on his hands, Tommie devoted his efforts to his herd and a new era of The Branch Ranch. This included the purchase of The Island Plantation property in 2012, located near Natchitoches, Louisiana. The addition affords Tommie the opportunity to expand his cattle operation making a bigger impact within the cattle industry. The property in Natchitoches, Louisiana is now the development center for weaned cattle and The Branch Ranch’s specialty breeding programs. It is also the host to the development center for the two-year-old breeding bull program while the main Ranch location in Mansfield is devoted to a registered mama cow operation.

Tommie’s success with The Branch Ranch is the result of hard work. He is dedicated to his craft and is always in search of new and innovative ways to enhance the cattle industry.

BULLS THAT ARE PURCHASED FROM THE BRANCH RANCH are rough and ready bulls that have been in the company of 150+ herd mates for the duration of their life span. When these bulls are taken home from our ranch, they will need a period of adjustment prior to being used for breeding. This period gives them the opportunity to settle into a new home and a new system.

We suggest putting your new bull(s) in an area with another animal such as a bred cow or steer and keeping this area from large viewing crowds.

As breeders, we have come to expect our purchases to increase in value over time. Proper feeding, care and maintenance are of utmost importance to support this expectation. In order for your new bull(s) to reach their full genetic potential a little attention prior to and after each breeding season is essential.

Good management practices for newly purchased bulls can also make a tremendous difference in the productivity and longevity of productive performance. Outlined below are some of the practices we feel hold the most weight.

• During the adjustment period supply the bull with fresh water, quality hay and after a 24 hour period you may provide them with additional energy at approximately one percent of body weight.

• Although highly recommended, if an adjustment period area is not an option and the bull must be turned out with the cow herd, bring the herd to meet the bull and allow them to return to the pasture together.

• In order to avoid injury, do not turn your new bull loose with an older bull. Keep his company to the cow herd, bred cows and steers.

• For his first breeding season, your new bull should be limited to a minimum number of cows to service. This number is typically related to his age. A good point of reference for a two-year-old bull would be 20 cows.

• It is important to keep a close eye on the condition of your bull once he is turned out for the breeding season. An excessive loss of body condition at a fast rate could mean he is fighting an illness. Some illnesses if not caught early can be detrimental to the development of your bull. If you feel there is a need for concern take the time to visit with your vet. You may also want to keep in mind that hay and/or pasture alone do not provide sufficient nutrients for growing bulls. Additional energy may be necessary.

• Your bull is 50% of the calf crop that he has bred so it‘s imperative that you have a set process for parasite control and you stick with it. This process should include treating for internal parasites as well as using an effective form of external parasite control.

If possible, bulls need to be kept at least a pasture away from cows that are in heat in the off season. In cases where circumstances may inhibit this practice, proper fencing is a must. Using board or pipe fencing will yield much better results than a wire fence which can often be challenging. Lastly, but certainly not least, be sure to provide shade and clean water.

We are offering 75 of our top Rough and Ready Bulls. These bulls have been handselected out of a group of over 150 for phenotype, structural soundness, fertility and maternal qualities. There is no fluff in our bulls...what you see is what you get. Under normal conditions, our bulls go into the breeding season with ample body condition to maintain libido, motility and breeding effectiveness. TBR bulls are fit and ready to work. This year we are offering a tremendous group of bulls sired by one of our top bulls on the ranch MC Boulder 129C4. He is a son of the great MC Boulder 889Z14, one of the most renowned sires in the Brangus breed who needs no introduction. MC Boulder 129C4's dam, MC Ms Resource 129A15 ranks in the top 1% for eight EPD traits highlighted by the all-important top 1% in Heifer Pregnancy, Stayability, Terminal Index and Fertility Index. 129C4 himself ranks in the top 1% for REA, Heifer Pregnancy, Fertility Index; top 2% for WW, TM; top 3% Terminal Index, YW; top 4% for Stayability; and top 10% for SC and IMF. We also have several bulls sired

by MC Crossover 000A8 who is a paternal brother to BWCC Crossfit 541B28. Other offerings are sired by several sons of CCC Mytty, Infocus 129X32, MC Game Changer 127Y42, Great Basin 129B4, and well as 129X32 himself. Our Ultrablack offering this year will be sired by Angus bulls we have purchased from R.A. Brown Ranch over the past years. They have been an exceptional outcross on our Brangus cattle.

Our bulls are grown in pastures that range from 100-300 acres, so they know how to hustle and are built to travel. They have maintained an average daily consumption of 12 pounds a day of a high forage ration grazing in Bermuda pastures. We have monitored their daily gains closely, and have kept them at an average daily gain of three pounds per day. These bulls will be sound and ready to breed. They will have been BSE and Trich tested 30 days before the sale. Also, this entire offering of bulls will be BLV and Johnes Free. About the Females Selling...

We are offering 100+ head of Purebred Commercial Brangus and Super Baldy Females. We have a combination of weaned and yearling heifers as well as first calf heifer pairs, bred first calf heifers, 3 and 4-year old bred cows and a great group of 5-year old bred cows. These heifers are all high quality and ranch raised backed by multi-generation Branch Ranch genetics.

These heifers and cows were bred to low birth weight Brangus and Angus bulls. All heifers have been uniformly sorted into groups ranging from 2-6 head per group by age, phenotype and calving dates. The heifers will be videoed and penned this way as well. The heifers will have been certified safe in calf by our veterinarian, Dr. Craig Fontenot, DVM, 30 days prior to the sale or will have a calf at side sale day. Ultrasound and palpation have been performed by a veterinarian and all data will be available sale day.

The heifers are available for viewing now until sale day at the ranch. Buyers will have the option to roll pens and that will be noted on the sale day supplement sheet along with any changes or additions.

Except for those stated in the below terms and conditions, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction. The warranties and guarantees set forth in the "Terms & Conditions" are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therin shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the buyer, or any party through buyer, for any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided, and all other obligations or liabilities.

1. BIDDING: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder without reserve. In regards to the live closeout, the auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision shall be final.

2. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but will not be delivered until settlement has been made.

3. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: When full settlement has been made, a certificate of registration will be furnished and transfered to the purchaser on those lots that are registered.

4. HEALTH: All animals where possession is sold are eligible for interstate shipment except as otherwise noted. Any testing necessary for intrastate or interstate shipping will be done within thirty (30) days of the sale date. A health certificate will be furnished upon completion of purchase.

5. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements from the live auctioneer will take precedence over the printed matter in this catalog. All cattle will be sold by lot numbers as announced by the auctioneer.

6. BREEDING GUARANTEES: (A) All animals are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of (1) injury or disease occurring after sales; (2) negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. (B) Any bull is considered a breeder if he settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by a competent veterinarian during any six month period trial.

7. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENTS: A. All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing within six (6) months of the sale date. B. Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within the time limits specified above, if in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer's expense, and buyer may either demand return of the purchase price or replacement of the animal with another of equal value.

8. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS: The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding upon both.

If buyer is registered through DVAuction.com and has approved Credit Card information on file, that credit card may be used for settlement if the buyer so chooses. If proper settlement has not been made in a timely manner, credit cards on file may be used to settle any outstanding balances.

CHECKOUT INSTRUCTIONS: Settlement shall be made directly with seller (The Branch Ranch).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This sale will be a combination Timed and Live Event. Buyers will be able to pre-bid on bulls starting at 8 am on Thursday, October 22, 2020 and close at 12:30 pm, Saturday, October 24, 2020. The live auction at the ranch will begin at 1 pm Saturday, October 24, 2020. Once the final hammer price has been realized through the live auction, the animal will then be considered sold.
