Greetings, The brutal cold, freezing rain, frequent snows and ice have made the winter of 2019 one for our record books. Despite the weather we have managed to produce a group of sound functional cattle that we are proud to offer for sale. We don’t take your interest in our cattle lightly. We know you have many choices from whom you can purchase your seedstock. At Wildberry Farms we work hard to produce a consistent, quality product that can enhance the profitability of all our customers. Thickness, fleshing ability, structural soundness and disposition are traits that are key to profitability, and they are the traits you will find in Wildberry bulls.

This is a great time to be involved with the Simmental breed. 2018 was the Golden Anniversary of the American Simmental Association and we have been part of the Simmental breed 40 of the 50 years it has been in America. Simmentals have established themselves as the breed of choice for a crossbreeding commercial program. The heterosis provided by percentage and purebred Simmental bulls pays dividends year after year.

As cattle prices continue to fluctuate and margins become tighter, the value of quality breeding stock becomes more important. We have selected and developed these bulls to make a positive impact on your operation. The heifers have been raised right along with our replacement females and a majority will have calves at side sale day. If you are looking to add to your existing cow herd, there is something here that will work.

As always, the bulls carry a first-year breeding season guarantee, will be boarded free of charge until June 1 and delivery is free within the first 200 miles.

PRICING AND SALE FORMAT

All bulls are base priced at $2,750, all females base priced at $2,000. Bulls will sell first and follow a sale order. Each lot will begin at the base price. If more then one person is interested at that price, the lot will be bid off until one bidder remains. Bulls that do not receive the base bid will be skipped over and offered one more time at the conclusion of the bull sale. Females will sell after the bulls. Heifers will be sold choice and privilege, with the buyer having the option on up to 5 head per winning bid. Please feel free to call with any questions about the format.

HERD HEALTH PROGRAM

All bulls & heifers are on a complete health program and will be accompanied by health papers for shipment anywhere in the United States. All cattle have been vaccinated for PI3, BVD, 7-Way, Blackleg, BRVS and Haemophilus and have been poured and treated with Dectomax.

SEMEN INTEREST

Wildberry Farms retains a 1/3 in-herd semen interest in all bulls sold, unless otherwise noted.

SALE LOCATION

The sale will be held at the farm between Elizabeth and Hanover, Illinois.

Three miles south of US 20-Highway 84 intersection or one mile north of Hanover on Highway 84 on the west side of the road.

FIRST BREEDING SEASON GUARANTEE

All bulls have passed a complete BSE and semen check. They are fully and unconditionally guaranteed to be as represented by us in terms of fertility and function. If during the first breeding season they fail to be a satisfactory breeder, we will either replace them with a bull of equal value or return the original purchase price.

PAYMENT

We ask for a fully refundable deposit of 1/3 the price of the bull the day you select the bull. Final payment is due when the bull is delivered or picked up. We expect full payment for females and they should be picked up sale day or shortly after.

EPDS

All EPDS are the most current BOLT at the time of printing conducted by IGS and the American Simmental Association. Please note that EPDs may change from the time the sale catalog is printed until registration papers are transferred.

Can’t visit the farm? Call Ben, Dean or Jim. We will select the best bull in your price range. Your satisfaction is guaranteed when the bull is delivered, or we will take him home.

How to Read the Performance Data

Tattoo: The bulls have a permanent I.D. tattooed in both ears that correspond to the alphanumeric ear tags.

Weights and Ratios: Actual BW weight taken within the first 24 hours of calving. The ratios for birth and weaning weights are taken from the ASA using their contemporary groups. The yearling weight and carcass ratios are figured by us in house, with all the Purebreds in one group and all the Percentage bulls in another group. We feel this gives the most easy to read information and shows how the bulls have done relative to their pen mates.

SC: Scrotal Circumference measured in centimeters adjusted for age.

ULTRASOUND CARCASS REA: Adjusted yearling ultrasound rib eye area. %IMF: Adjusted yearling ultrasound for estimated marbling, an indication of quality grade potential.

Back Fat: Measured in hundredths of an inch.

Green Illinois designates bulls safe to use on heifers.

Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs)

CE: Calving Ease, expressed as a % in deviation from breed average of unassisted calving in two year heifers.

BW: Birth Weight, expressed in pounds as a deviation from breed average.

WW: Weaning Weight, expressed in pounds as a deviation from breed average.

YW: Yearling Weight expressed in pounds as a deviation from breed average.

MCE: Maternal Calving Ease, expressed as a % deviation from breed average of two year old daughters unassisted calving.

Milk: Maternal Milk, expressed in pounds as the deviation in calves weaning weight from breed average from dam’s milking ability only.

MWW: Maternal Weaning Weight, expressed in pounds as the total deviation in calves weaning weight from breed average from dam’s milking ability and growth genetics combined.

Sure, their commitment to doing things right genetically has attracted breeders from across this nation, but their commercial cow calf customers are what centers the business. Cow efficiency and convenience are obvious priorities when you look through the offering as well as genetics that promote great calving ease, growth and carcass excellence. They know that most of their long-time customers need simplicity and labor savings in order to be successful and Wildberry females offer those important traits consistently. Great disposition, feet and udder quality are not negotiable and the promotion of heterosis for profit is the icing on the cake for simplifying successful production.

Personally, I look forward to the Wildberry sale each year as well. They are easy cattle to buy for customers and the selling atmosphere is low pressure and enjoyable. When you buy one here it is unconditionally guaranteed to work and satisfy the buyer or these folks will do what it takes to make the customer happy. Everything a seedstock source offers can be summed up as either genetic improvement or customer service.
