We will start delivering bulls the week of April 15th for those not hauled on sale day.

Bulls are fertility tested, guaranteed breeders and evaluated for soundness and disposition.
FIRST YEAR GUARANTEE:
1. Full coverage for 6 months from date of purchase. * Broken penis in single sire pasture * Structural problems due to feet and legs * Disposition 2. 50% Coverage Purchase price * Broken penis and/or penis injury on multi-sire pastures * Broken legs * Styfle * Etc. * Exceptions – foot rot, wire cuts, illness, items out of Raile’s control. Any reproductive injuries need to be examined by a veterinarian within 48 hours of injury. Quick treatment can cure many problems. Injuries not checked and treated promptly will not qualify for 50% coverage. A letter from your vet will be requested. All guarantees will be covered by a satisfactory bull replacement, if available, or credit on future bull purchase for the amount covered. Reminder: You keep any salvage value.
SEMEN INTEREST:
We will be reserving a 1/3 semen interest in all bulls selling. Bulls we plan to semen collect now, before delivery are indicated in the catalog or will be announced on sale day.

We personally take our own pictures for the sale catalog, NO editing to any images has been done. Welcome to our 30th Annual Raile Charolais & Red Angus Sale. Remember to keep the basic things in mind. Treat the land and cattle with care, treat our neighbors and other people in the same manner, give glory and honor when due, and make good use of the gifts and blessings we receive from God. We were blessed with adequate moisture this summer and a very mild winter until February. The cattle in this sale are some of the best of each breed for production, efficiency and carcass traits. Note the EPDs and how they relate to the breed averages. Charolais X Red Angus feeder calf demand is on the rise and selling extra pounds is good business. These extra pounds, due to heterosis, have no extra cost. There is a growing interest in using Charolais bulls in commercial herds. Feedlot operators and packers know the value of Charolais sired feeder calves. Research completed at K-State in cooperation with Superior IS CHRmillions Livestock Association, over a period of 5 years and of steer calves, showed that the Charolais sired calves brought the most premium on a per pound basis. We hear a lot about the fast rate of change in the beef industry. We must remember, “not all change is progress.” The decisions made in mating cattle are challenging, and the rate of progress can only be measured one generation at a time whether the outcome is rewarding or disappointing. When the new generation of animals are used in your environment, then we can determine if progress is being made. As we continue to sort through new data, “good old common sense” is still alive and well at our Ranch. Most important is not the internet or the computer, but the visits we share with ranchers and friends. We are honored that you trust us to be your seedstock supplier. A very easy calving bull raised by Lindskov/Theil Ranch in South Dakota. His calves will add width, depth, a deep flank and spring of rib, with good scrotal development and excellent pigment. His calves are heavy muscled, grow well, are very good footed, and travel well. Disposition is excellent. EPD: top 5% BW, top 30% WW/YW/marbling and top 15% REA.

TSI: Fairly new to the AICA is the Terminal Sire Index, or TSI, which represents a dollar index by combining several EPDs to from a single value on which to base selction decisions. For example when comparing LOT 1’s TSI of 212 and LOT 2’s of 202, you could expect the progeny of Lot 1 to average $10 more net return then LOT 2. Herdbuilder: According to the ARAA “Producers selecting bulls to develop profitable replacement females and maximize the value of non-replacement marketed progeny should incorporate the HerdBuilder Index into their selection decisions. Given that replacement heifers are retained, significant influence is placed on the obvious maternal ERTs of Stayability, Heifer Pregnancy and Calving Ease. Additionally, with all remaining progeny sold on a quality-based carcass grid, Marbling, Yield Grade and growth EPDs also impact the HerdBuilder Index.” Gridmaster: According to the ARAA, “The GridMaster Index can be used if your operation’s primary goal is maximizing profitability of feeders in the feedyard and on the rail. Marbling, Yield Grade, and growth EPDs are the traits of primary importance in the GridMaster Index.” MPPA: According to the ARAA, the Most Probable Producing Ability is “An estimate of a cow’s future productivity for a trait (such as progeny weaning weight ratio” based on her past productivity. For example, a cow’s MPPA for weaning ratio is calculated from the cow’s average progeny weaning ratio, the number of her progeny with weaning records, and the repeatability of weaning weight.”

A Red Factor Charolais Bull owned by Brevig in Lewiston, MT. They are quite popular in northern US and into Canada. For years breeders have used Charolais cattle that possessed more reddish tint and bred them until a delusion free Charolais was developed. Thus the Red Charolais or Red Factor genetics. Used on Angus cows they will produce either red or black depending on whether they have a recessive red gene. Redzone also contains the Leptin gene, which may be an indicator of fat or marbling in beef cattle. We have only three bulls in the sale, they have exceeded our expectations. They are known throughout the US as the “Royal Reds.”
