We are very excited to present our 5th Annual “Barber’s Red & White Holiday Lights” Sale, held in the historic Stockyards of Fort Worth, Texas, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017. Once again, this is your opportunity to select from the absolute best of our spring-born females. We are extremely proud to say that for the past five years, we have had a National Champion or Reserve National Champion female offered for sale in Fort Worth. In addition to the females, we have also offered embryos, pregnancies and semen on cattle that have been at the forefront of the industry.

Last year, as Lot 1 we sold semen packages on BR Belle Air 6011, who one month after walking into the sale ring in Fort Worth would claim Supreme Champion Hereford honors in Denver. e year before that, we offered semen for the first time on Aventus, who, like Belle Air, would win Supreme Champion Hereford in Denver one month after this sale. Aventus has the largest sire group in this year’s sale and has had top sellers across the country for multiple breeding programs. We will also offer semen on a few more bulls that we are big believers in, such as 124Y, Copper and Sooner On Sooner. Both Lots 1 and 2 in this year’s sale are out of three-year-old 124Y daughters. In addition to semen, we are offering a select set of embryos as well as some incredible pregnancies that have the best matings we offer and will be calving soon.

However, the heart of this sale will always be the females. We have as good of a track record as there is at producing elite females that both win in the show ring and then go on to make some of the absolute best donors in the breed. BR Belle 4082 ET, dam of Belle Air, sold in this sale, as did BR Bailee 1066 ET, who is a donor and producer of multiple National Champions for Colyer Herefords. Anastasia (2015 Denver Champion Polled Female), Audrey (2016 Kansas City and Louisville Reserve Champion Female), Amber (2017 Kansas City Reserve Champion Female) and multiple other high profile donors have also been offered in this sale. Continuing with that trend, we are confident that there are many females from the following pages that will go on to be a positive influence for their future owners. We select females for this sale that we believe will make a major impact after their show careers and offer the very best we raise in this sale each year.

All the cattle being sold will be on display in the Stockyards beginning ursday prior to the sale. ere will be a cocktail hour and Cooper’s BBQ served directly before the auction, which this year will be held in Superior Livestock Auction’s video studio once again. SALE TERMS & CONDITIONS Cattle are offered for sale under the current Terms and Guarantees recommended by the American Hereford Association, which can be viewed at www.hereford.org. Animals will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense after payment is received in full. Show expenses on jointly owned females will be prorated. Announcements made at the sale will supercede all printed material. We reserve the right to withdraw any sale lot not meeting our specifications prior to sale time. EPDs were current as of November 17, 2017, as reported by the American Hereford Association.

Note: Barber Ranch reserves the right to two future flushes on each of the full interest heifers selling, with a minimum of six embryos per flush.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE AS AN ABSENTEE BUYER We have made preparations to bid and buy livestock through Superior Productions’ “Call or Click-To-Bid” service for those unable to attend in person on sale day. Here’s How It Works…

Turn in Bids Over the Phone. This is our traditional method of buying livestock. To get started, simply go online to www.superiorlivestock.com and click on the tab titled “Register for a Buyer Number.” Select the registration form for Superior Productions and print the registration form, fill it out and fax it in to Superior Productions at 817.378.3380 with a sig nature on it. You can also mail it in to the address provided on the form. Upon receipt of this information, Superior will call you with a buyer’s number and the bid line phone number that you will use on sale day to place bids over the phone.

Click-To-Bid. This is Superior’s newest way to buy cattle! Please note that high speed internet is required—this is not for dial-up or satellite internet. Registration is free, but you must become a member of www.superiorclicktobid.com to sign up. Becoming a member is easy—just go to the homepage of www.superiorclicktobid.com and follow the outlined steps to get started. Input your information and select a username and password. You will receive an e-mail confirming you are a member. From that point forward you just have to sign in and select the sale you would like to register for and once approved you will receive an e-mail confirming which sale you are now registered for.

Viewing the Auction. The sale will be broadcast live on the internet at www.superiorclicktobid.com—just go to the home page and select the auction. Females like Guinevere don’t come along very often. is horned March heifer has the look and the pedigree that we strive to produce. Her dam is a young Copper 124Y daughter that has an elite udder. 124Y semen is very limited and has commanded over $500 per unit when it has been sold this fall. Once breeders see that our outstanding Lots 1 and 2 females are both out of three-year-old 124Y daughters, his value should continue to rise.

Alainna 4138, the dam of Guinevere, is now in the Barber Ranch donor program. Her first calf topped the Barber Ranch Bull Sale this November, and Guinevere is her second calf. is double red-eyed donor prospect is deep, stout and ultra-correct with a great neck set—she will really stand out in a lineup. Guinevere is sired by a very stylish Stockman son that Colyer Herefords raised. We believe this female has an extremely bright future in the show ring and then as a donor.

is dark red, polled April daughter of Bold Gold and another great young 124Y daughter is one of our absolute favorites. Bold Gold is a very moderate Sensation son that breeds as much power as anything we’ve used.

Many believe that the true value of 124Y is in the females he sires, and the three-year-old dams of Lots 1 and 2 back that up.

Brianna is bred to make a great cow. She has great numbers across the board to pair with her phenotype, including a birth to yearling EPD spread of over 100 and excellent carcass numbers. Brianna also has that extra look and great hair to really set her apart in the show ring, but it’s the body, width and power to go along with it that make her really special. We are very excited about the breeding potential of this dark red, polled female out of a young 124Y daughter.

Don’t overlook this polled heifer just because of her younger age. Only a June, she is an absolute killer on the profile. She has the chest, neck set, extension and beautiful head that we love on our show heifers. She’s also incredibly long spined and great in her lines. Her dam is an About Time out of Terri 646, so it’s definitely no coincidence that this young heifer has a ton of style and power. She should only get better with time.

is polled twin sister to Lot 3 is really striking on the profile, showing extra extension up front and down her spine to go along with a great hind leg. Zoe is pretty hard to pick a hole in and—like all of our Aventus calves—has a little extra power and look. It is very cool to have a past show heifer calve with twins—both heifers—and to have both of them be this good and make our December sale.

Sooner On Sooner is a bull that we are big believers in. Phenotypically, he is probably the biggest bodied bull we’ve ever raised, but what really makes him impressive is that for as big bodied and easy doing as he is, he has virtually no chest floor and is choke fronted. He’s also really stout and as square hipped as you will find. It also doesn’t hurt that he is a doublebred Sooner, and great udders run throughout his pedigree.
