It is with GREAT pleasure that I welcome you to the 31st annual Performance +bull sale.

We are very happy with changing our sale day to the first Friday in March, especially this year, where we have had one of the worst winters in 40 years or so.

As I have always said, and will continue to say, no matter the market, you need to surround yourself with good genetics. We have been stacking generation after generation of easy calving, high growth genetics to advance your herds & bottom line!! We have noticed a big change in our cattle since we now have many generations of AI & ET daughters now producing some of our top bulls & females.

We have been real pleased with our “1802” donor. She has been a high producer of embryos as well as having a high rate of her embryos settling and producing some of our top calves. She is a Grand daughter of the dam of the female making “Image Maker”. We are looking forward to her daughters in production as well as the “4942” donor as well.

Ruby & I want to take this opportunity to thank the “crew” at CPAR. We are very pleased to have Ray Aiken and his family involved in our cattle enterprise. Ray has taken over the herdsman position with lots of energy & expertise and always having new ideas to move us forward. He was instrumental in CPAR keeping the bulls at Grangeville this winter to finish developing them there until sale time.

John Hoene, our farming forman, is another integral part of CPAR as his experience and work ethic is second to none.

His expertise and mechanical abilities are invaluable to CPAR as well.

It is because of this dedicated crew that CPAR is what it is. Thanks Guys!!

About the bulls: We apologize for not having any pictures of the bulls. The winter has taken its toll on a lot of things and some had to be abandoned to get the cows calved, fed and bedded.

We have listed our vaccination and how the bulls have been developed elsewhere in the catalog. All bulls are tested negative BVD. We are once again offering the first breeding season guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your bull, we will do what it takes to make it right.

We welcome you to our annual bull sale, we are always very excited this time of year as we pull all the data, gather information, and select which bulls off test will make the offering. We are very proud of the 104 bulls that we cataloged as the top cut out of 140 on test.

We feel fortunate to dedicate 100% of our time to the cow business, as 100% of our annual income is derived from this cowherd and the feeder cattle that we market. We are very proud of the cowherd behind this offering of bulls: a very maternally based set of cows that are moderate in frame, easy fleshin , and expected to breed back on time and bring a calf home “every time.” A cowherd that has a lot of performance and carcass bred into them. These cattle produce feeder cattle that weigh up in the fall and feed with a lot of integrity.

Once again, we lead off our offering with a powerful set of Merritt sons. Merritt was one of the top sellers in the 2011 sale selling to Conley Angus and Genex CRI. We truly appreciate these cattle for their rib shape, internal dimension, muscle shape, and raw performance. In 2014, our lead-off Merritt son “Protocol” topped our event at $24,000 to Rollin’ Rock Angus. He was used extensively for two breeding seasons and just recently joined the Select Sires lineup. You will appreciate the Protocol Sons in the offering: low birth, big scrotaled, heavy at weaning, and great carcass. The first daughters calved this spring and a e the Right Kind.

The Northwest has just recorded a winter that will be remembered for a long time, but just remember we are knocking on the door of one of the best grass years that this country has seen for many years.

We truly appreciate our many customers that make this possible. We feel extremely blessed to be able to raise a family in this business. Our boys are troopers and seem to love every bit of Ranch life.

BULL DEVELOPMENT PERFORMANCE PLUS VAC PROGRAM Camas Prairie Angus Ranch and Crouthamel Cattle Co. have worked closely with Dr. Terry McCoy at the Animal Health Center in La Grande, OR to customize a vaccination program that not only maximizes the efficien y and production of the cowherds, but more importantly develops these bulls with an end goal of providing a sound breeding tool that will transition to multiple environments without acclamation. These bulls have received the following protocol: Birth:

Vision 8 and MultiMin

Branding: Vision 8, Vista Once, Ivomec Pour-On

Pre-Weaning: 7-Way with Haemophilus, Vista Once, Nasalgen, MultiMin, Ivomec Pour-On

Weaning: Bovi-Shiled Gold One-Shot, Mycoplasm, Endovac, Safe-Guard Oral Drench

Booster Post-Wean: Haemophilus, Mycoplasm, Endovac

The cowherds have also been tested negative for BVD PI, and each calf has been individually tested negative for BVD PI. Camas Prairie calves have received Foot Rot, Pinkeye, and wart vaccines as well.

FALL BULLS DEVELOPMENT Cows calve out on dryland fall pastures & wheat stubble in Grangeville, ID, and the calves are fed 4lbs. oats a day while on their mothers. At turn out time (May 1) they go back to grass with their mothers and weaned July 1st. After weaning they are fed 6-8lbs. of oats and barley along with homegrown grass/alfalfa hay. This year the bulls were developed on the ranch in Grangeville, ID. SPRING BULLS DEVELOPMENT Born in calving pastures in Touchet, WA and moved to large paddocks through the spring with no creep. Weaned September 1st into a backgrounding lot with a Purina starter pellet and long-stem grass hay for 45 days. Delivered to Beus Feedlot, Pasco, WA October 15th.

EMBRYO TRANSFER CALVES Our embryo transfer (ET) program has grown significantly over the past few years due large in part to our partnerships with cooperator herds. These herds are diverse in both environment and management where a large percentage of these calves are “born outside” on native feed anywhere from high desert conditions to foothill/mountain terrains. We only mention this as many as you look at some of the data on the ET calves where there were weaning differences from those and our home raised calves. Also, there are some instances in the catalog with no BW information. This is due to the fact that there was simply no way to gather an accurate measurement on those individuals. As always, the numbers back from American Angus show ratios of 100 for all ET calves as they are born out of commercial recip cows with varying breed make-up and genetics. These calves see the exact same PERFORMANCE PLUS VAC PROGRAM listed above as the entire set of home raised cattle.

Terms & Conditions SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION A supplemental sheet will be available sale day with up to date performance information, scrotal measurements, and any applicable DNA results on select bulls. For a copy of this information prior to the sale, please contact John Dickinson at (916) 806-1919. This sheet and any announcements from the block will take precedence over the printed material in the sale book.

FIRST YEAR BREEDING GUARANTEE All bulls selling for $2500 or more will be covered 50% by the seller if they are injured during their first breeding season Breeding season is defined as the 90-day period fo lowing the first turnout of the bulls 50% of the value of the injured bull, minus one-half salvage value, will be given as credit in a future sale or toward a replacement bull if one is available. Salvage value, if any, will be split equally between the seller and the buyer.

All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by September 1, 2017.

Example: A $4000 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $2000 minus one-half any salvage value will be given to the buyer.

Example: A $2500 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $1250 minus one-half of any salvage value will be given to the buyer.

Example: An $1800 bull is injured and will not heal. No credit is given. Buyer retains all salvage value.

FEEDING Performance Plus Breeders offer free feeding until April 1, 2017 on any bull bringing $3500 or more. After April 1, 2017 we will feed the bull at actual cost until he is picked up or delivered. We are offering $100 discount off the selling price if you take possession of your bull directly after the auction.

RETAINED INTEREST – ANGUS BULLS Retained interest is noted on Fall Bulls [Lots 1-85]. All Spring Bulls [Lots 86-171] will sell with one-third (1/3) retained interest unless otherwise noted. Buyer receives FULL POSSESSION and FULL SALVAGE of these bulls.

DELIVERY Performance Plus Breeders offers free delivery on the first 500 miles Any additional miles the buyer will pay for at actual cost. We will try our utmost to deliver the bulls to your ranch however at times we may have to deliver him to a central point. Central points for delivery will include auction barns, vet clinics and ranches that offer to serve as delivery points. We will be in contact with you to establish delivery arrangements. You must make arrangements for delivery of your bulls BEFORE leaving the sale if you wish to have your bull(s) delivered. A Performance Plus representative will be in the LLM office to help you make those arrangements.

INSURANCE We have two (2) different insurance options available for buyers in this year’s sale. The standard mortality coverage is available with 6-month (3.85%) and 12-month (5.5%) policies available. There is also a mortality [+ loss of use] coverage now available. Those rates are (6.5%) for six months or (8.0%) for twelve months, and this will cover total and permanent infertility resulting from an accidental breeding injury (i.e. broken penis or injured stifle) We strongly recommend at least one of these options if you intend to take advantage of our feeding program through April 1 or beyond. We consider your bulls to be as valuable as our own, but be aware that accidents and injuries can occur and each bull is at the buyer’s risk as soon as it is sold.
