On behalf of KOLT Cattle, I would like to welcome you to Simple Choices 2015.

Every year we start the catalog off by telling you about this year's offering, let's take a different approach. Last year we had a tremendous offering, and sold cattle all across the country. These cattle have been well recognized in showrings all across the country. In the last 30 days since one of our best and most consistent Junior National shows we have had the most Division, Reserve, and Champions ever at fairs all across the mid-west. Truly a testament to you guys, the customer. Thanks for all the hard work and good luck!

It’s really been a defining year in the Shorthorn breed. Montie Soules and his staff have really hit the ground running. Look at all the changes that have actually taken place, removing the “if it ain't broke, don’t try to fix it” attitude we have all worked with at one time or another. He has big plans for us as a breed and I'm looking forward to see what's next.

What's next? For KOLT Cattle the next chapter is in the midst of being written. Yes we are currently involved in several breeds, but for us we feel Shorthorn is still a perfect fit. Year after year we have been fortunate to work with a first-class team and breeders that continue to share the same focus. That focus allows use to work together, compete at an all-time high level and still have time to do the family things that make life extra special!

I struggled this year with which heifer or cow family to start with, I think they are all very deserving of the coveted Lot One spot. I felt it is necessary to offer one of KOLT Cattles very best to represent this sacred tradition. We have had the fortune of having some really good younger females in the past, including this ones' full sister, but I feel this one may be the best yet.

Ok, I am not going to write a footnote explaining all the winners in this females family. But I will say this, this will be the next in the purple line for Foxxy!

I feel this females future is as bright as her color pattern. These Sonny’s are hard to beat. In fact they still make some of the best cows the breed has to offer.

More than enough soundness to make an awesome yearling that has all the look and pizzazz her mother was known for.

Maybe the longest necked, most massively constructed female in the sale that is sure to be a crowd favorite on October 4th.

I love the attachment of this females neck at the top of her shoulders, she has the look of greatness, what else would you expect from this mating.

Because of the mothers success at several shows early in her career did KOLT Cattle meet some of our dearest friends in the cattle business. Lisa Nikkel has told me that Carly continually kept her up at night, these late nights allowed her to strategies plans how Jake and Ben’s heifer could beat her, however this never happened.

GFK said he had a good heifer, I listened!

Our dear friend Nick Reiman knew I was looking for a few special heifers. He called and said Greg Kroupa was talking about Lot 19 and 20’s mother, he laid the groundwork and she became a Simple Choice’s feature and high seller to the Plate Family.

Lot 19 gives us the same twist, extra bone and power, with that special look needed to seperate herself from the crowd. Super gental and kind-eyed makes this splashy roan a definate prospect for the kids.

LOT 20 It is a good day when you hit 50% on your frozen eggs any time, however, this past year we were in the 70’s on our August implants. This is ultra important when females like lot 20 are created. DSC Blood red and polled, I’m sure this is what Greg had in mind when creating the Buddy Love freak of nature as a calf. What he did, however, was see the great Farrer cow line on the bottom side of this great donors pedigree.

The last of a legacy at KOLT Cattle. SULL Solution’s Pride was the Grand Champion Female at the Shorthorn Junior Nationals in 2010. Exhibited by the Hoblyn Family, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to promote this great female and all her progeny to date.
