1. Visit www.dlms.ca, scroll down sale list to find the sale you are interested in bidding on. Click on the sale listing and you will be taken to the FarmGate Timed Auction Sale page.

2. After you are at the FarmGate Timed auction sitefarmgatetimedauctions.ca , click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button.

First Time FarmGate Users

First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Fam Gate Timed auctions (please note due to some of the text notification features the FarmGate Time Auction Site requires a new account separate from your DLMS Live sale site account).

After you create your FarmGate account you will receive a text message with a pin code to verify your account.

On your first log in to FarmGate Timed auctions we recommend you go to your profile and confirm your notifications are set to YES. This allows the site to send you text and/or email notifications when you are out bid and if there is activity on your favorite lots.

How to Bid

Now that you are logged in and your account phone number/email is verified, you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.

It is recommended that all purchases be insured as cattle become new buyers risk as soon as sold.

Place Next Bid - to place the bid on the animal, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the Place Bid button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.

max Bid Amount - to place a max bid, you put your max bid in the second box listed as Max Bid on the animal, and then click the Place Bid button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the maximum amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidental from the seller during the sale process.

Example of How the Max Bid Works: If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you. If someone else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for

you - this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective. You will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again, or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot, competing against each other.

Watch list Feature

If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch without having to scroll through the entire list, you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button. Clicking this “watchlist” icon adds the animal to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of only your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.

sale Ending/Closeout

Most FarmGate Timed Auctions close racehorse style with extended bidding.

Racehorse style sale Close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone to extended bidding.

When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less that 5 minutes on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

Bidding Close & Follow-Up

After the clock has gone to ENdEd and no bidding has occurred for 5 minutes, the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close, the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/ pick up your lot. As the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor/ sale manager to confirm payment instructions.

Please make sure your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this how the billing is sent to the sale manager and/or sale consignor.

We are excited to be a part of the 3rd annual Heart of The Peace Multi Breed Bull Sale. Another year has flown by with calving, cropping, and baling. Some challenges have come our way this past summer. A few fires, burnt a tractor and baler down, a couple of fires in the combine and two big trucks blew up. But all in all, spirits were good. Great thanks to our family, friends and neighbours for all their help.

Within all of that, our son Alexander is now engaged to a lovely girl and planning on getting married this fall. We are very excited for the two of them and happy to have Kenzie be a part of our family. Our daughter Madalyn is in her third year of college working towards her bachelor’s in environmental science. She is doing very well and comes home on holidays and in the summer will continue to work for Ducks Unlimited.

We would like to welcome everyone to our third sale, offering our select set of Black, and Red Purebred Simmental bulls. We are extremely proud of our bull pen this year. From 135 papered mamma cows our goal was to sell 20 bulls, unfortunately mother nature controlled the cards and 60% of our crop calved as heifers. As such, we were left with small bull numbers, an expensive feed market, September calf prices high, so we culled extremely hard and consigned 10 outstanding bulls this year.

These bulls range ages from January to February. We make it a priority to take their birth weights and process under 24 hours of age. September 11th is when we weaned and recorded our actual weaned weights. Our vaccination program includes Calf-Guard and Inforce3, Injectable ADE + Selenium under 24 hours of age, then in March we follow up with Vision 8 and Express FP 5-VL5, followed with the same fall booster.

Our focus is to raise hardy, strong footed bulls that can carry themselves through any environment. Our program promotes healthy, conditioned muscled bulls without sacrificing their feet, stomach health and breeding longevity. Our nutrition program is a forage based diet using super fibre pellets. We feed for adequate Average Daily Gain without compromising performance.

Welcome to Heart of The Peace Multi Breed Bull and Female Sale. We are the new kids (lol) in the sale. We farm at Brownvale AB. We have two grown kids, Chris (Jordan) & Brittney (Wyatt). We currently have 100 purebred Charolais cows to calve and also 300 commercial cows and they go to grass with around 650 yearlings.

As we calve April 15th, going forward, we are selling bulls coming up on 2 years old. We never push them hard with feed. After weaning, they are backgrounded for winter, then put out to grass for the summer. We bring them back in late fall and put on feed to bring them into shape for selling. This helps with longevity of life.

We have brought in some really good genetics from Springside Cattle Company of Airdrie, AB., SOS Goldmine, SOS Granite, SOS Pandemic and our newest SOS Jackpot. We also have a Visa bull from Jaydawn Farms.

Located just 10 minutes east of Grande Prairie, we have had the great pleasure of raising our 3 children in the country way of life. Now as empty nesters with 3 grand children we realize just how blessed we are. If the last few years has taught us anything, it’s how important friends, family and community are.

We want to take this time to thank all of our fellow contributors in this 3rd annual Heart of the Peace Multi Breed Sale, and to thank all of our past supporters.

Evan grew up showing purebred Hereford cattle in 4-H and local fairs around the Peace Region. When our girls, Jaeden and Madisyn, got into 4-H with heifer projects they chose to get purebred Angus. This is where all the fun began again with the cattle!

Most of our herd is genetically linked back to the first blood lines that our girls used in 4-H. With the extensive use of artificial insemination in the early years, we have built a very reliable herd of red and black angus. The traits we focus on are good feet and legs, conformation, docility, calving ease, and the ability to perform at weaning time.

ALL of our bulls and heifers in this year’s sale are sired by RED SMOKY TENACITY 66F. This bull has been a game changer for our herd - the perfect “Swiss Army Knife”! We used him on the heifers, young cows, old cows, everything! When you have a bull that can give your females the size calf that they can handle and still retain the performance that you need to survive in this business, that’s money in the bank!

A very well balanced bull that my herd sire TENACITY 66F put his stamp all over - he is almost the spitting image of his sire! This bull is a must see!

We chose to visually heat detect in May and selectively choose semen for AI for each individual dam. A smaller operation allows us to forgo synchronizing our cattle. After a full cycle, dams are exposed to our reputable herd sires. This may stretch out our calving season but in the end, we believe we are producing more options for you, the customer.

All our calves are DNA verified, semen tested (prior to sale date) and are quite docile. We believe in gradual development of our bulls with sound forage and a supplemented ration. The animals have been groomed and hand fed around other livestock, including dogs and donkeys and are comfortable with people.

We would like to welcome Michelle & Sheldon Tissington as our guest consignor this year. Their 3 commercial heifers are from a bull purchased from us in 2021.

It gives us a great sense of confidence and satisfaction seeing our bull’s progency included in a sale such as this. The Tissingtons run a 3rd generation farming operation by Flying Shot Lake and are pioneers in our community. Their focus is commercial Limo cross cattle, breeding heifers back to Angus.

Joe is a twin out of one of our top notch Blackbird cows that raised both him and his brother with impressive WW’s. His actual BW was 71 lbs and he weaned off Sept 17th at 620 lbs. At no point did we ever supplement either twin, the cow managed quite well on her own. Joe is a very thick, square, solid, impressive hind end of our lots. You have to appreciate him for his depth and demeanor and structural correctness.

We were very fortunate to acquire some Red Fineline Mulberry 26P semen. This bull is a “breed legend worldwide known for his perfect uddered daughters and thick easy doing sons”. It’s not too often that a bull from the Peace Country like Van Gaalen’s makes it to stardom. Red LBL Mulberry 12B 3K is a deep bodied bull out of a moderate well milking mature cow, built for longevity. Donaldson Ranch purchased a 1/2 maternal brother to this bull and have been extremely pleased.

SAV Renovation 6822 is a bull used to improve maternal traits and solid body composition. His first progeny are reporting added performance in the bull calves and an attractive look to his females. LBL’s Renovation seems to be following in his sires footsteps with a tonne of hip to him.

This bull is very thick from top to bottom. His scrotal development and structure make him a real eye catcher. We sold a ½ brother to Brayden Rycroft about 4 years ago and he doesn’t disappoint. He is a product of a few generations of our AI program and we are very pleased with his development. If he wasn’t related to ½ our herd, he would be staying.

This bull is out of one of our successful show cows. His dam is beautifully developed, sure footed with a perfect udder. He’s a ranchy bull that was sired by Harvest Admiral 8C. With an 89lb BW, weaning off Sept 17th at 770, this bull is well on his way to being a solid herd sire.

Kingpin’s dam is out of one of our first acquired RED cows. She is a 12 year old powerhouse cow, standing tall and strong. She has produced everything from power bulls to heifer bulls, depending on what we bred her to, and Kingpin is somewhere in the middle. With an 87lb BW, we are confident in CE in young cows. Last year Brent & Kim Knickle added a heifer bull out of this cow to their herd and are quite pleased with him. His color and stature is Harvest Admiral 8C.

This is another bull from an older show cow that has stood the test of time, LBL Khaleesi 1C. A good square bull with lots of volume. His EPD chart shows easier CE and heavier WW. He is a moderate size bull that needs to be seen to be appreciated. Rainey Ranch from Lone Prairie, BC purchased a full sibling heifer as a 4H project in 2021 and were very pleased with her.

Thank you to all our old friends and new, for bidding and purchasing Reber bulls in the 2022 sale. If you are unable to view them in person, videos will be available for viewing on the DLMS website. We may hold the Bulls at the ranch after the sale and delivery options are negotiable. Jackpot is a tank! He may be smaller in stature but he is a meat machine. Boasting a modest 68lb bw he will be ideal for a big group of heifers. Calves will come easy and then pack on the pounds. He was also out of a moderate first calver who has one of our top replacement heifers in the pen. He has a great disposition and just look at all the pigment!

If your looking to add a little more frame, this Emperor son should give it to you without sacrificing muscle. Jethro is dark cherry red and marked to the nines. His dam 5D has awesome feet and a fault free udder. His maternal sister sold in our first sale.

Jimmy has a bit more birth weight to him but when they are built right they calve out as easy as the smaller calves. His dam 30Y always weaned off one of the heaviest calves in the fall. 2 maternal brothers have sold in past sales. If your looking for a cow bull to bring in the pounds in the fall this guy will do it.

We had a 70% heifer crop from our 125 cows last year. When Serena inquired if we were interested in marketing some of them through her sale we were more than happy to. This is the first time in 30 years of having cows that we have sold replacement heifers as they are usually retained in our herd.

Although our farm is predominately Simmental based, we always run a Polled Hereford bull with some of the cows. We like the cross, and all the attributes that Herefords’ are known for. We believe these heifers will make excellent moms; they have been hand fed since January, vaccinated with Pyramid FP5+ Presponse SQ, and Fermicon 7. As well the heifers were given Lutalyse to reduce the risk of an unwanted pregnancy at weaning. Any questions give Warren a call at 780-864-8453.

Every year there is one calf that stands out as fancy. Last summer this is the one that caught my eye every time that I put out salt, checked the electric fence, checked the solar waterer, or just went for a quad ride. This is her! She is as good as I have ever made!

terms The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par to sale consignor at the farm within 7 days of the sale or at delivery unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale with sale manager. The right of property & delivery shall not pass until after settlement is made. Bid Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. Disputes In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the computer accepted the last bid. Purchaser’s Risk Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable time. Certificate of Registry Each animal will carry papers issued by the applicable breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.
