OSHA Regulations Standard #:1926.502(f) Warning Line Systems 1926.502(f)(2) Warning lines shall consist of ropes, wires, or chains, and supporting stanchions erected as follows:

OSHA Recommedation: A warning line is used 6-15 feet from the edge of the roof, dependaing on the slope. The warning line meets or exceeds the requirements in 1926.502(f)(2).

1926.502(f)(2)(i) The rope, wire, or chain shall be flagged at not more than 6-foot (1.8 m) intervals with high-visibility material;

Manufacturers Recommendation: Spacing between the roof edge delineators to be 6’ - 10’.

1926.502(f)(2)(ii) The rope, wire, or chain shall be rigged and supported in such a way that its lowest point (including sag) is no less than 34 inches (.9 m) from the walking/working surface and its highest point is no more than 39 inches (1.0 m) from the walking/working surface; 1926.502(f)(2)(iii) After being erected, with the rope, wire, or chain attached, stanchions shall be capable of resisting, without tipping over, a force of at least 16 pounds (71 N) applied horizontally against the stanchion, 30 inches (.8 m) above the walking/working surface, perpendicular to the warning line, and in the direction of the floor, roof, or platform edge; 1926.502(f)(2)(iv) The rope, wire, or chain shall have a minimum tensile strength of 500 pounds (2.22 kN), and after being attached to the stanchions, shall be capable of supporting, without breaking, the loads applied to the stanchions as prescribed in paragraph (f)(2)(iii) of this section; and 1926.502(f)(2)(v) The line shall be attached at each stanchion in such a way that pulling on one section of the line between stanchions will not result in slack being taken up in adjacent sections before the stanchion tips over.

1926.502(f)(3) No employee shall be allowed in the area between a roof edge and a warning line unless the employee is performing roofing work in that area.

1926.502(f)(4) Mechanical equipment on roofs shall be used or stored only in areas where employees are protected by a warning line system, guardrail system, or personal fall arrest system.

TrafFix Water-Cable Barrier™ Specification

Water-Cable Barrier to be 72” (1.9 m) long x 18” (0.46 m) wide x 32” (0.8 m) tall and molded from polyethylene. WaterCable Barrier to be MASH tested, passed and eligible for TL-1 31 mph (50 km/hr) and TL-2 43.5 mph (70 km/hr) barrier applications. Individual wall shall weigh 100 lbs (45.4 kg) including internal cables empty and 1,070 lbs. (485.3 kg) when filled. Three 3/8” diameter stranded steel cables are molded into the wall to contain the impacting vehicle during an accident. Standard colors are orange/red and white, product may also be produced in other colors. Water-Cable Barrier modules are connected together with galvanized steel T-pins passing through a double wall knuckle which minimizes breakage at hinge points. Water-Cable Barrier shall pivot up to 30 degrees when connected. Water-Cable Barrier to have one 8 in (203 mm) diameter fill hole for quick filling and a twist lock cap for closure. Water-Cable Barrier will have molded fork lift slots to provide easy movement. Drain plug to be centered on the modules to protect against cracking or breaking and have course buttress threads for quick removal and insertion. Water-Cable Barriers shall stack for easy movement and storage.

Ideal for vertical construction. Secure and easy to deploy.

Specifications The chain link fence will attach to the top of a longitudinal barrier, (TrafFix Water-Wall™), creating additional security to a work zone. The mesh fence will be made of 11 gauge steel, connected to vertical steel posts of 1 5/8” diameter. Fence sections will be 6’ wide x 4’ tall. Each fence section shall weigh no more than 42 lbs including the connector T-pin. Each T-pin will extend down through the sections of fence into the knuckles of the TrafFix Water-Wall to securely connect the fence to the wall. Each T-pin shall have a hole at the upper end for a security bolt to enhance security. The fence will accommodate a 6’ single gate or a 12’ double gate for entrance or exit from the work zone. For maximum stability, the TrafFix Water-Wall, filled with water will weigh 1,110 pounds. Overall height of the Water-Wall Fence attached to the top of the TrafFix Water-Wall will be a minimum 84”.
