THE SNJM DIFFERENCE

For 136 years, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary have played an integral role in the success of Ramona. The SNJM’s continue their commitment to Ramona Convent with an annual gift to Ramona, as well as, a visible presence on our Board of Trustees and on our faculty.

At Ramona, our students are encouraged to lead boldly, think critically, serve compassionately, and dream without limits. Rooted in the mission of the Sisters of the Holy Names, our community nurtures not only academic excellence, but also faith, confidence, sisterhood, and purpose.

THE GIRLS’ SCHOOL ADVANTAGE

At Ramona, we see every day the transformative power of an all-girls’ education. The International Coalition of Girls’ Schools refers to it as “The Girls’ School Advantage,” and the research confirms what generations of Ramona students and alumnae already know firsthand: when girls are given the space to lead, learn, and grow in an environment designed for them, incredible things happen. Girls in all-girls’ schools are more likely to develop confidence in their abilities, participate in leadership opportunities, pursue ambitious academic goals, and find their voice. In a girls’ school environment, students are empowered to focus on who they are becoming—not on the limitations or stereotypes society may place on them.

This year’s theme “Rooted in Sisterhood – Grounded in Mission” resonates well with all that we do here at Ramona. Whether you graduated fifty years ago or five years ago, “sisterhood” has been an integral part of your Ramona school days and beyond. As Sisters of the Holy Names, our mission has always been to educate young women: empowered, resilient, socially conscious leaders. These two ideas come together this year, as they did when the first students came to Ramona (in horsedrawn carriages) in 1889. While yearbooks, magazines, and social media give more elaborate pictures of Sister Kathleen Ramona today, this small Impact Report, puts the facts and figures together, showing what a difference, you make in the Ramona story. Your investment in our young women and in Ramona today makes it Callaway, possible for us to carry on the mission of Blessed-Marie Rose, started in far off Montreal, almost 200 years President ago. Thanks to your support, today’s Ramona girls enjoy the advantages of an all-girls’ education, while at the same time having access to the latest technology, a broadcast studio, a MakerSpace, and a relevant and ever changing curriculum all grounded in Catholic tradition and the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names. These advantages do not come free! Our current $18,730 tuition is beyond the reach of many of our families, 64% of whom are receiving tuition assistance this year -- for a total of $1.6 million. This is where you come in! Your gift in any amount, your investment in our students can make a huge difference. Those who are alums and received tuition assistance yourselves, know what a difference it made in your life. Consider giving back and making a difference in the life of a current student – show what the Ramona sisterhood means today!

Every gift to Ramona is an investment in the potential of a young woman. Your generosity provides opportunities that extend far beyond a student's four years on our campus. It helps ensure that every Ramona student has access to an exceptional Catholic education, inspiring teachers, innovative programs, meaningful service experiences, leadership opportunities, athletics, the arts, STEM, and the sisterhood that defines the Ramona experience. For many students, donor support also makes a Ramona education possible through tuition assistance, opening doors that might otherwise remain closed. The impact of your generosity doesn't end at graduation. Ramona graduates leave prepared to succeed in college, thrive in their careers, lead with integrity, and make a difference in their communities. They become educators, healthcare professionals, engineers, entrepreneurs, artists, public servants, and advocates who use their gifts to serve others and create positive change. When you give to Ramona, you're doing more than making a donation. You're investing in young women who will go on to transform their families, their communities, and the world. The ripple effect of your generosity is one that will be felt for generations to come.

YOUR GIFTS IN ACTION This upcoming school year, I’ve been re-elected as a Junior Class Vice President and Co-Captain of Ramona’s Pep Squad. This past year, I’ve been involved with other extracurricular activities such as Theatre Crew (Hair) and Ramona Camp, where I served as a camp counselor. Before entering high school, I had never been part of student council, a pep squad, theatre, or a summer camp! Our amazing staff, welcoming community, and my fellow classmates encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone and try new experiences, and I am so glad that I did. Ramona sees the leadership and potential in every student and provides countless opportunities for success. -Isabella W. ‘28 The Ramona Convent softball team made history this season with its first-ever appearance in the CIF Southern Section Division 7 Championship game. Through resilience, teamwork, and determination, the Tigers’ remarkable postseason run showcased the strength of Ramona athletics and the dedication of our student-athletes. This achievement would not be possible without the support of our coaches, families, and donors who invest in Ramona’s athletic programs. Your generosity provides studentathletes with the resources, opportunities, and experiences they need to compete, grow, and succeed both on and off the field. Ramona's Peer Ministry program inspires students to live their faith through service, leadership, and advocacy. Throughout the year, students engaged the school community in meaningful opportunities for prayer, service, and social justice, raising more than $1,500 for Catholic Relief Services while supporting local and global communities. From school-wide service projects and blood drives to advocacy for migrants and a virtual exchange with Holy Names students in the country of Lesotho, Peer Ministers embraced the call to serve others with compassion and solidarity. Guided by the SNJM mission, these experiences empower young women to become compassionate leaders committed to justice and lifelong service.

I consider myself very blessed to be called a Ramona student. Ramona has helped me grow so much as a person and has given me opportunities I could have only dreamed of. Being in such a warm, welcoming, and academically driven environment has allowed me to truly find myself and develop skills that I can carry with me for the rest of my life. One thing that will always stand out to me about Ramona is participating in the Robotics and NINJA programs. Being active in both, I am extremely grateful that Ramona is one of the few schools to offer such unique programs. By giving students access to tools and equipment, and the guidance to use it, they are nurturing the students creativity, collaboration skills, and interests. Using the skills learned, Ramona's Robotics team, The Ramona Rampage, constructs a robot from start to finish, coding and developing new mechanisms to help us do the best we can during competition. Ramona’s Robotics team is one of the few all-girls robotics teams in the First Robotics competition. Each year the team continues to improve and achieve great things. Places like the Robotics Room and the MakerSpace are so important because they allow our student body to turn their ideas into reality and try new things. -Isabella N. ‘28

I will be attending the University of Puget Sound, where I plan to major in Anthropology and minor in Vocal Performance. During my time at Ramona, I was involved in Peer Ministry, Performing Arts Choir, and a variety of clubs. Ramona taught me the importance of self-advocacy, a lesson I will carry with me as I begin this next chapter. -Juliana K. ‘26

When I think of Ramona, the first word that comes to mind is opportunity. Ramona gave me countless opportunities to grow, explore, and build meaningful relationships with mentors like Sister Kathleen and Mrs. Alvarez, whose support and encouragement continue to impact me today. Looking back, I realize those experiences were made possible because others believed in Ramona and invested in students like me. Choosing to give back is my way of expressing gratitude and paying that investment forward. I am proud to remain part of the Ramona community and invest in the opportunities that will shape future generations of students. -Carolina Barbosa ‘17

Legacy Giving Legacy giving, also known as planned giving, allows you to support the work of Ramona while protecting your personal interests. There are a variety of planned giving options that can be tailored to your individual financial and charitable objectives. The simplest and most effective way is to make a bequest in your will or living trust. This can be done by specifying a pre-determined dollar amount, property, a percentage of your estate or residue of your estate for the benefit of Ramona. Another way to make a significant gift to Ramona is with life insurance or stock. You may transfer an existing life insurance policy that is no longer needed.

Reunion Giving Reunions celebrate the lifelong bonds and enduring values of a Ramona education. They also provide an opportunity for each class to honor its milestone reunion with a collective gift to the Alumnae Scholarship Fund, helping ensure future generations of Ramona students can benefit from the same transformative experience. Each Reunion Giving Campaign is led by dedicated class volunteers who encourage participation and inspire their classmates to give back. If you're interested in serving as a Class Gift Leader, please contact Kelsey Davidson ‘02 kdavidson@ramonaconvent.org.
