a difference for us here at Ramona. Thanks to your support, our Ramona students have been able to explore their talents and interests within the framework of a rigorous value-based curriculum. Co-curricular programs have developed artists, athletes, actresses, scientists and advocates for peace, justice and concern for the environment. Through your donations to the scholarship funds, we are able to continue the longstanding tradition of the Sisters of the Holy Names to offer a Ramona education to all qualified young women regardless of the family’s financial situation.

A poem about the power of ONE crossed my desk recently; one line stands out: That difference starts with you! Reflecting on this past year, I am keenly aware of how each of you has made thataremadeavailabletoourstudents. Thankyou!
I am always deeply touched by the generosity of my fellow alumnae and friends of Ramona. Your support of our mission validates your belief in the exceptional academic and diverse co-curricular programs
You have helped create the next generation of TIGERS. FOR LIFE.
Gratefully,
Sister Kathleen Callaway, SNJM President

When Ramona graduates enter college they are prepared, confident and empowered with the strength of conviction that results from a SNJM education. During their four years here, Ramona has guided and supported them in becoming the remarkable women they were meant to be.
In the 2021 – 2022 school year, Ramona awarded tuition assistance to over 60% of our students. Recognizing that we as a community want to help young women benefit from a Ramona education, we acknowledge and are grateful for the combined generosity of our alumnae, friends, and foundation partners.

2021-2022

Attending Ramona encouraged me to develop confidence, a love of learning and a kind, caring attitude towards others. I want young women today to have the same encouragement and opportunity. That is why I give back to Ramona.
For Therese Verdugo Bentley ’75, Ramona Convent felt like home to her and her twin, Beatriz Verdugo Meza ‘75 and younger sister, Patricia Verdugo Johnson ’78. Therese remembers Ramona as a place where she enjoyed an enriching spiritual life, learned the importance of service to others, received an education that left her well-prepared for college, and made great lifelong friends.

DONOR PROFILE
Friend of Ramona
I'VE ALWAYS BELIEVED RAMONA'S FOCUS ON PREPARING YOUNG WOMEN FOR LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. THEIR DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT TO THAT END IS VERY IMPRESSIVE.

A long-time Ramona donor and enthusiastic supporter of women’s education, Joan Payden, CFA, understands the value of encouraging young women to aim for the stars and pursue their dreams. She also believes in preparing them to effectively accomplish their goals. That is why she has partnered with Ramona and our mission. Setting one’s sights high describes Joan’s own journey. In 1983 she founded Payden & Rygel, the first woman-owned investment management company in Los Angeles. During this process, Joan has overseen the firm’s international expansion and its growth to more than $150 billion in assets under management.
Ms. Payden serves on the board of advisors of the UCLA Anderson School, and is a trustee of the University of Southern California and Loyola Marymount University. She is also a member of the board of the Town Hall of Los Angeles, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. She is past chairman of the Investment Counsel Association of America.

We want to let you know that we will be moving our next giving day to October 3-7.
It is our intent to organize our fundraising solicitations to be more manageable for our donors. With Alumnae Weekend and La Fête taking place in March and the end of the school year in May, it makes sense to move Strawberry Day of Giving to the fall. We will rename it and calendar it to occur during another uniquely Ramona celebration, Rose Week, when we honor our foundress Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher.
La Fête is Ramona's largest fundraiser of the year, featuring an online silent auction, opportunity drawing component, and the opportunity to raise scholarship funds through Fund-A-Student.
We are always looking for great partners to contribute to the success of La Fête!
From individual or corporate sponsors to local businesses that would like to donate an item to the auction or place an ad in the program. There are so many ways to participate all while supporting the students of Ramona!
If you'd like to get involved please contact Kelsey Davidson '02, Alumnae & Special Events Manager kdavidson@ramonconvent.org
