STUDENT COMMONS UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO

OVERVIEW Located in front of the University of Chicago, the proposed Community Center includes a Student Center, Convention Center and Social Lounge, wherein university students and other residents of ambient neighborhoods will have an opportunity to form positive bonds with each other.So They can learn and practice their chosen fields of study and they can also hang out with their peers

URBAN APPROACH The connections between two sides metaphorically turn out as social bridges to make interaction between people from various social classes. Visitors directly access the main court as well as observation deck through stairs with very gentle slope.

DESIGN PROCESS

INTERACTION OF SENSES Every experience of architecture is sensual and rooted in our existential experiences.

In other words, every spatial experience comes from embodied interaction and bodily engagement with surroundings through senses. Additionally, existential experiences raised from the present context and archetypes, and metaphor is an expression

conveying meanings from these domains to viewers. Factors such as socio-cultural environment, memories and identity beside mythologies and primordial images are origins of metaphor.Metaphor creates an atmosphere in which some symbolic and literal meanings are conveyed to the viewer. SOCIAL LOUNGE The stepped form of the Social Lounge emphasize on the interaction between visitors. To reach a flexible space of interaction, co-related Galleries and workshops serve the social lounge platform. As visitors go up through the flexible platforms they experience a brighter and lighter amosphere. The flexibility of program inside this building is a inherit part of creating an atmosphere. Each platform can be assigned to an activity (study, performance, leisure , etc.)

UNICEF COMMUNITY CENTER BAM, IR

CONCEPT ‫پ‬As part of the comprehensive reconstruction effort in Bam, UNICEF is contributing to the design of a child-friendly and sustainable urban plan. This plan encompasses playgrounds, sanitary facilities, safe drinking water, and handwashing facilities for selected schools. Additionally, it includes the construction of a school building, an early childcare center, and a teacher resource center. Children’s Design sessions have been organized, empowering children as key planners of their own environments.

Community-based, child-centered services play a crucial role in re-establishing a sense of normalcy for children and upholding their right to access environments tailored to their needs. Through these efforts, UNICEF is committed to safeguarding the rights of the most vulnerable children. Situated adjacent to the historic Bam citadel, the design of the community center strives to incorporate traditional architectural elements, such as color, texture, shadow, rhythm, and massing articulation, into a modern architectural language.
