The 71st Porsche Parade will be held in Boise, Idaho, starting July 11th, 2027. Who wants to go?
I have been the Editor of downshift magazine for over three years without a break or missing a deadline. I put in many hours each month producing a club magazine you can be proud of. Many regions do not have a monthly magazine and those that do have staff or pay someone to help produce a magazine.
In September I am taking a vacation for the month, which means there will not be an October 1 downshift. The next downshift will resume November 1 as per normal. st st
This one month break will allow me to think of new ideas to make downshift even more interesting. It will also give me time to find more flying saucers!

It seems we do this group drive every year and there is a good reason. The Porsche rated roads do not disappoint driving upwards to the pass, taking in the views, and descending down a winding switchback road surrounded by lush green forest. What more could you ask for?
Our thirty Porsches were greeted by a swarm, an invasion, we were attacked! We counter attacked at full speed, defying all odds outnumbered by millions. Not drones, not birds, not aliens, but swarms of millions of Pandora moths that invade Central Oregon every few years.
Our clean Porsches were now littered with smashed moths soon to be baked on by the warm sunshine..
We started our ride at the Sisters High School parking lot.
The drive to the top of McKenzie Pass was on a Porsche rated road with plenty of twists, turns, and swarms of moths smashed to windshields and cars.
We had an on the fly fuel tanker (red arrow) to top off our thirsty Porsches. on our way back to Sisters. Just like a military aerial tanker refueling Raptor jets in mid flight.

Bend Cars and Coffee: 10 am; 1st and 3rd Sunday 1001 SW Emkay Drive
Following the Saturday No-Bikes-On-McKenzie-Pass-Arrive-and-Drive with 30+ drivers (when I proudly received an endorsement on my license for instrument driving through moths), on Sunday morning Carol and I went to the other “Bend Cars and Coffee”. Not thinking we would see any other HD Porsche members, suddenly we noticed Stu looking at Ford Shelby GT cars. Hmmm.
This particular Cars and Coffee offers another amazing car culture in Bend. It seems to cover the full spectrum of automotive endeavors. Vehicles presented Sunday showed the potential of each car: whether from a complete rebuild/up-grade. Enjoyed seeing tuners, restorers and conservators, all in various stages of completion.
The first car noted catching our eye was a Delorean. Our Porsche was parked close, but not too close. As with all old cars of this nature the “Flux Capacitor” was malfunctioning and slipped back to a previous or maybe future time. Will try to get a photo in the future.
Anime: who would have thought this pop culture would collide with another pop culture. Well done!!
Miata with wheel flairs. Miata seems to be the choice forbuilding, wrenching and tuner efforts.
Belair station wagon with correct trailer for the era. Corvette from another time line. How far we have all journeyed with these vehicles.
An unexpected find. This Ford Edsel is in great shape
Sorry, but the attempt to hide out between a Ford Thunderbird and an Audi, under an umbrella, is not working. However, it does keep this red Targa’s black interior cool(er).
Saw many mods with very high horse power in Chargers, Mustangs and trucks. Impressive efforts and sounds.
Other cars noted in our walk-around included a Lotus Emira, various Subarus, some three-wheel motorcycles(?), and various 1940s and 1950s trucks. Porsche 911s, of course, (but no 356s). Sadly, no Studebakers. If any are misidentified, my bad.
A Hearty Recommendation: Take in other interesting Cars and Coffees in Central Oregon. They present the range of efforts to keep this culture alive. People watching is optional.

July kept pace with June’s strong performance, matching its 74% sellthrough rate while coming in just shy of dollar volume at $38,101,964 from 635 Porsches offered. That is a healthy increase from July 2024’s 66% and $30.5 million, showing the market’s resilience even as certain segments cooled. This was a month where rare and limited editions took center stage, with cars we have not seen in some time crossing the block including a Black GT3 RS 4.0, multiple 911 S/Ts and Sport Classics, and a unique one-of-one 993. While these headliners drew plenty of attention, the seven-figure market told a different story as several high-profile million-dollar contenders failed to find new homes.
It only took a little over a month for another GT3 RS 4.0 to clear the million-dollar mark, and this one came with an even rarer twist. Finished in Black, a color not seen at auction for this model since a 1,000-mile example sold for $885,000 back in August 2022, this 842mile 2011 car looked every bit the collector-grade example it was. Expectations were high after a low-mileage White RS 4.0 crossed $1 million earlier in May, and the market responded accordingly. It landed squarely within its $1 to $1.3 million estimate, selling at $1,260,000. With this sale, RS 4.0s are now firmly established as million-dollar modern 911s.
We ended June with the sale of a 911 S/T at a new auction record of $805,992, and July wasted no time in bringing more to market. Three more examples crossed the block, but not all met seller expectations. The first two failed to sell at final bids of $700,000 and $726,000, likely held back by hopes of replicating June’s record result. The third proved to be the charm, a 130-mile Shore Blue Metallic example that hammered sold at $702,000.
It was not just S/Ts making headlines. Two 992 Sport Classics also found new homes. A standard-spec, 258-mile car sold for $473,000, while the other, a Paint-to-Sample Dolphin Gray over Black and Pepita Heritage Design example, stole the spotlight. With just 2,800 miles, body-color Sport Classic wheels, a Burmester sound system, and an MSRP of $311,000, it returned to the block after previously selling for $483,500 at Broad Arrow’s Amelia Island sale in March. This time, it surged past that mark to $550,000, making it the thirdhighest Sport Classic auction result to date.
If there were an award for the rarest Porsche to hit the market in 2025, this 1996 911 Carrera Coupe 6-speed would be a front-runner. Built by Porsche Exclusive as a pre-production Carrera S press vehicle, it featured a collection of one-off touches rarely, if ever, seen together. These included Turbo-style front and rear spoilers on a narrow-bodied car, Turbo S front and side intakes, and Porsche’s X51 power kit. It sold for $275,000, a price that felt entirely justified for something this unique, and in doing so set a new all-time auction record for a 993 Carrera Coupe.
The 356 market was active in July, with 25 cars crossing the block for a total dollar volume of $1,837,212, though the sell-through rate was a modest 60%. One standout was a 1957 356A Speedster that broke through a ceiling we have seen hold firm this year. Until now, only one 356A Speedster had crossed the $300,000 mark in 2025 despite nearly a dozen examples coming to auction. Finished in Black over Tan, this car sold for $325,000, besting its $300,000 high estimate. While it did feature a replacement engine, the unit had been rebuilt during a 2023 refurbishment, with the seller providing detailed photos of the work. In this case, great condition and thorough documentation carried the day.
While July offered some truly special sales, the upper end of the market also had its share of notable no-sales. Leading the list was a 2015 918 Spyder finished in Paint-to-Sample Grey Black over a striking Leather-to-Sample White interior. Showing 5,000 miles, it carried $7,000 in Custom Tailoring but lacked the desirable Weissach Package that often commands a premium.
The last non-Weissach 918 to sell was an 887-mile example that brought $2,315,000 all-in at Amelia Island this past March. This one came close, but ultimately fell short, failing to sell at a final bid of $2,305,918. Also failing to find a home was a 911 Speedster by Gunther Werks, which stalled at $959,911 despite a recent run of million-dollar-plus results for other Gunther Werks builds.
With sales holding strong over the last few months, the stage is set for an exciting Monterey Car Week. The combination of rare, high-quality consignments and a market that continues to show resilience suggests we could see some standout results when the gavel falls in August.

SkidCar Training
Deschutes County SkidCar Training is an all-weather driver enhancement program taught with the aid of the SKIDCAR System. The SKIDCARframework attaches to the suspension of a vehicle to allow the front and rear tires to be lifted or lowered independently with a controller. The system allows drivers to experience the inclement driving conditions that cause a vehicle to lose traction in a safe and controlled learning environment. The course costs $100.00 and is available through Deschutes County Risk Management and sponsored by the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners.
Training includes one hour of classroom instruction followed by three hours of hands-on driving in the vehicle. The instructor will cover various techniques, including proper eye placement, acceleration, braking, steering, weight and energy management, as well as proper tire decisions and maintenance. Participants will learn the proper use of anti-lock braking systems and understand the differences between rear wheel drive, front wheel drive and four wheel drive systems, as well as Electronic Stability Control and Electronic Traction Control in modern vehicles. Participants will also learn about skid prevention, control and recovery.

Set of 4 Porsche Cup 2 Wheels with Center Caps and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season Tires, tires are date coded 2821. The tires have not been used, have full tread. The wheels are in perfect condition, no wheel rash. These came off of my 1995 968, but will fit 993 911 cars as well as maybe others. Wheel sizes are 17" x 7" and 17" x 9" with tire sizes 225/45 ZR 17, and 255/40 ZR 17. Beautiful and clean. You would normally pay just a little less than this for just the wheels but these have new tires as well. Selling for $1600 for the set. Contact Don Good: 831-566-9400, or dongood@mac.com
This is a beautiful and custom matted and framed Pebble Beach Print from the August 18, 2019 Concours d'Elegance Show. I purchased the print at the show and subsequently had it framed in Bend Oregon. Glass protected. The painting depicts a '31 Bentley 8Litre going across the podium. A Collectors piece. The frame alone cost $380. Total original cost to assemble was $420 (including the print). Selling for $140. Contact Don Good: Ph: 831-566-9400
Black 10 Spoke Porsche Wheels with Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 studless snow tires complete with Porsche center caps and tire pressure monitoring system, purchased new 11/2022. These are very lightly used, almost brand new 265/50-19 tires (see photos). The wheels have no curb rash. They had briefly been on a 2016 Cayenne but will likely fit other Cayenne models and would also work on a Macan however that does not provide a staggered setup and would require a rear spacer. They likely will not fit on turbo models due to the size of the front brake caliper. I do not know if they will fit on a Panamera. These are 5 lug bolt 19" wheels with the following offset specs: 8.5J x 19H2 ET59. Also included are low profile fitted cable chains. Delivery of this set of 4 rims with tires, mounting and balancing, TPS and center caps would be around $5K new; asking $2,500.
