. On Saturday the High Desert Region held its New Members Picnic, 25 Year Anniversary, and PCA 70 Year Anniversary Celebration. If you missed it, you missed a heck of a party. Between 140 and 150 members, including a few founding members attended and from what I heard from many, they had a great time This event was highlighted with live music from Reno and Cindy who entertained us for over two hours, an excellent tri-tip and chicken meal provided by Bleu Bite Catering, a parking lot full of about 75 beautiful Porsches, and best of all, great comraderie with our fellow Club members.
We encouraged current members who were founding members to attend and invited founding members who are no longer HDR members as our guests. Eighteen founding members attended which allowed current members to meet them and get some history on the early days of our Club and thank those members who were instrumental in starting our Club.
We started the day with a new member orientation with 25-30 new members in attendance as we have been stressing the need to welcome new members to the Club and try to get them involved as early as possible.
What we should take away from a fun day like this is how fortunate we are to have such a srong, viable Porsche Club in Central Oregon. Our Club is made up of over 500 members who own a wide range of Porsches from early 356's to the latest 911's, Cayman/Boxsters, and SUVs. There is a place here for every Porsche owner and we can all have fun interacting with each other.
When I go to the President's Meeting, I hear other Regions discussing what a difficult time they have getting volunteers to help with their events. I find just the opposite with our Club. This picnic was a testament to that when one of your Board Members suggested that the Board Members serve as volunteers to set up and put away everything needed for the picnic so the members could just enjoy the event. Most of the Board Members and special volunteers were there for Friday setup and, after the event ended, for putting the tables and chairs away. With this being said, I noticed many members who were there towards the end of the picnic, on their volition helping put away items used for the picnic. This is just how our Club is, members pitch in to help and that is why our Club is special.
And speaking of special people, I don't want to overlook how special Tracy Stout and Michael Paulson are for not only making their beautiful property, the Wildwood Ranch, available for a fun event such as this, but for the many hours of hard work they put in to make this happen. Also, special thanks to Sandy Wadsworth, our Social Chairperson, and her sidekick Val for their efforts.
For those of you who attended, plan on the same next year, and those who did not attend put the New Members Picnic on your calendar for n

The HDR picnic on July 26 was the largest event ever for our club. We celebrated our 25 year as a Regional PCA chapter and we have lots to be proud of. th th
About 150 attendees and 75 Porsches attended this new member picnic.
This event shows the vitality of our our club and people are stepping up to volunteer and be involved.
Sandy Wadsworth our event coordinator handled all aspects of this grand picnic. Other than Fred Neilson fighting over the last piece of brisket, the event was well organized and tons of fun.
Next year i anticipate that our 2026 picnic will have even more attendees and Porsches with FOMA.

Scandal Rocks Annual Picnic!
The HDR PCA Annual Picnic and 25th Anniversary was a splendid affair in a bucolic setting. The seemingly peaceful affair likely hid an unseen web of raffle corruption, payoffs, and intimidation.
This became evident during the raffle drawing when the same member kept producing winning tickets, effectively cornering the market for HDR swag. Murmurs of disbelief swept through the members gathered and quickly accelerated into calls for an investigation.
Initially, well placed members pointed fingers at the Master of Ceremonies, Stu Malakoff,. Stu hails from New Jersey and was rumored to be not just a neighbor but a colleague of Tony Soprano. “His accent, his cheap plaid polyester clothes, his glamorous wife…..it all adds up….” noted one long-time member. “These wise guys run it packs like rock chucks…” A quick investigation cleared Stu when it was revealed that Tony Soprano was a fictional character. But his choice of cheap plaid polyester will likely leave him under suspicion for years to come.
Others felt this was an example of corruption from the highest levels, involving a cabal of the founding members. As an observer postulated “It has been years since this secretive group has met and it has been years since the raffle has been so openly rigged…” This unnamed source feels Fred Nielsen, HDR President, is behind the scandal. However, his wife Pat easily cleared up his name. “Fred spends all his working hours on his eighteen Porsches, polishing lug nuts, q-tipping tire treads, and spit-shining alternator pulleys….he doesn’t have time to do anything, including taking the trash out!” Others all concurred, agreeing Fred has no life.
After Stu and Fred were cleared, thoughts immediately centered on the recipient of the multiple raffle items. Craig Todd. Craig is very low key, yet a massive gear head and track enthusiast. How did he come to possess an illegal number of raffle tickets and a statistically unjustifiable number of winning raffle numbers? Our on-the-scene intrepid reporter interviewed countless members and unearthed a never-before-seen photograph of Craig, with an unidentified blonde, exchanging what appears to be a sizable sum of cash prior to the raffle. Is this our smoking gun? Who is this blonde? And was this an actual payoff? The mystery deepens.
Time will tell. Meanwhile, Craig covertly has gained control of the inventory of HDR swag. Members have noticed not only have HDR swag prices more than tripled, but payment is only accepted in Bitcoin.

Deschutes County SkidCar Training is an all-weather driver enhancement program taught with the aid of the SKIDCAR System. The SKIDCARframework attaches to the suspension of a vehicle to allow the front and rear tires to be lifted or lowered independently with a controller. The system allows drivers to experience the inclement driving conditions that cause a vehicle to lose traction in a safe and controlled learning environment. The course costs $100.00 and is available through Deschutes County Risk Management and sponsored by the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners.
Training includes one hour of classroom instruction followed by three hours of hands-on driving in the vehicle. The instructor will cover various techniques, including proper eye placement, acceleration, braking, steering, weight and energy management, as well as proper tire decisions and maintenance. Participants will learn the proper use of anti-lock braking systems and understand the differences between rear wheel drive, front wheel drive and four wheel drive systems, as well as Electronic Stability Control and Electronic Traction Control in modern vehicles. Participants will also learn about skid prevention, control and recovery.

Set of 4 Porsche Cup 2 Wheels with Center Caps and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season Tires, tires are date coded 2821. The tires have not been used, have full tread. The wheels are in perfect condition, no wheel rash. These came off of my 1995 968, but will fit 993 911 cars as well as maybe others. Wheel sizes are 17" x 7" and 17" x 9" with tire sizes 225/45 ZR 17, and 255/40 ZR 17. Beautiful and clean. You would normally pay just a little less than this for just the wheels but these have new tires as well. Selling for $1600 for the set. Contact Don Good: 831-566-9400, or dongood@mac.com
This is a beautiful and custom matted and framed Pebble Beach Print from the August 18, 2019 Concours d'Elegance Show. I purchased the print at the show and subsequently had it framed in Bend Oregon. Glass protected. The painting depicts a '31 Bentley 8Litre going across the podium. A Collectors piece. The frame alone cost $380. Total original cost to assemble was $420 (including the print). Selling for $140. Contact Don Good: Ph: 831-566-9400
Black 10 Spoke Porsche Wheels with Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 studless snow tires complete with Porsche center caps and tire pressure monitoring system, purchased new 11/2022. These are very lightly used, almost brand new 265/50-19 tires (see photos). The wheels have no curb rash. They had briefly been on a 2016 Cayenne but will likely fit other Cayenne models and would also work on a Macan however that does not provide a staggered setup and would require a rear spacer. They likely will not fit on turbo models due to the size of the front brake caliper. I do not know if they will fit on a Panamera. These are 5 lug bolt 19" wheels with the following offset specs: 8.5J x 19H2 ET59. Also included are low profile fitted cable chains. Delivery of this set of 4 rims with tires, mounting and balancing, TPS and center caps would be around $5K new; asking $2,500.
