GM Update

Fall has arrived but there is still plenty to do at Raintree. Many of you will be traveling to see family and friends over the next few months, so we would like to wish you safe passage to and from your destinations.

One day soon I will be able to no longer give you a building update because we will have our full certificate of occupancy! Today we continue working with the contractors to complete the directives of the Urban Forestry department so we can get a final inspection of the building and surrounds. Once complete, we will have the path areas laid with asphalt which will help remedy the dusty golf cart issues. We will still plan a maintenance/cart barn member tour once we have the certificate.

We are adding a few finishing touches to the Troon Member Survey and will have it sent out to members in November. Please take the time to complete the survey and share your thoughts. Your responses will help us identify areas for improvement and implement changes that will benefit all members.

I wanted to share some news regarding our Food & Beverage department. Jordan Keiper, our Clubhouse House/Food & Beverage Manager, is no longer with Raintree. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. We are actively working to find a qualified replacement to ensure a seamless transition. In the meantime, our dedicated Food & Beverage team of Jennifer, Nanette, and Isabelle remains committed to providing you with the exceptional dining experience you deserve. We will keep you updated on our progress in filling this position. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Have a great November and Happy Thanksgiving.

See you around the club!

Tony

Community Outreach

Every year our Members show incredible generosity in the community through our Blessings Tree donations. Bright Blessings remains a volunteer-led organization that impacted 28,487 homeless and impoverished children in 2023. Through their core programs; Bless-A-Birthday, BlessA-Baby, Gift of Literacy and Gift of Care, we surpassed a huge milestone in October of 2021 by celebrating 100,000 children served since our organization’s humble beginning. Our Blessing Tree will be put up in the lobby of the main Clubhouse during Thanksgiving week and will go through December.

There will be other donation opportunities available for other organizations, so please keep an eye out for more details.

Bright Blessings is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving the greater Charlotte region. Thanks to the helping hands and hearts of our volunteers and supporters, the programs of Bright Blessings brought the gifts of joy, care, and hope to more than 17,000 homeless and impoverished children in 2019 alone.

The Blessings Tree in the lobby of the Main Clubhouse will have the Bright Blessings Angels on it. It will be up before Thanksgiving, so your family may choose an angel to donate to. The collection box will be in the lobby for gifts to be dropped off.

Deadline for drop-off: December 16th

Dear Member:

Annual EmployeeHoliday Fund

As the holiday season approaches, your Board of Directors is again endorsing the custom utilized by many private Clubs of thanking those staff “behind-the-scenes” as well as those who have personally served you throughout the year. Contributing to the Raintree Country Club Employee Holiday Fund enables you to express your appreciation for those services. These contributions are fairly distributed to the employees in time for the Holidays.

In this statement, a contribution of $100.00 has been charged to your account as your gift. However, this does not mean you are obligated to contribute. Should you decide not to participate or to give an amount other than $100.00 just indicate your wish when you make your November payment.

Your thoughtful contribution is deeply appreciated, and the entire Staff of Raintree Country Club thank you and wish every Member Happy Holidays and best wishes for a wonderful New Year.

Please return this portion of the letter no later than November 30th or email m.rodgers@raintreecc.net

Senior Men’s Club Championship

The 2024 Raintree Senior Club Championship took place the weekend of October 26th - 27th as a field of 63 players compete for the Senior Club Championship (50+ Years Old), Super Senior Club Championship (65+ Years Old) & the Inaugural Senior Legends Club Championship (72+ Years Old).

Golf Shop Update

Hours: Sunday - Saturday | 7:30AM – 5:00PM Tee-times will be starting at 9:00AM starting on November 1st with cart availability until 4:06PM. Please continue to check in at the Golf Shop before playing, if you need a key to take a cart to the Driving Range, please come into the Golf Shop to grab a key from our Golf Shop Staff.

Nine & Nine Policy Update

Beginning November 15th, riding nine and walking nine on the South Course will no longer be permitted. This policy is in place due to the logistical design of the South Course and to help with golf cart availability. Additionally, this will help maintain the longevity of the seats and body of the new cart fleet. Carts become unavailable and unused for long periods of time and the seats and body of the cart endure cuts and scratches from push carts. Walking nine and riding nine will only be available on the North Course beginning November 15th. For additional information on this policy, please contact Director of Golf, Luis DeJesus at Luis.DeJesus@ raintreecc.net.

Holiday Golf Shop Sale

We have officially picked our date for our annual Holiday Sale; it will be on December 6th. Please save the date and we will have more information on sales, times and holiday fun in the month of November!

Golf Staff Highlight

Our Staffer that we are highlighting for the month of November is one of our Assistant Golf Professionals, Connell Bradfield. Connell is a North Carolina native where he was raised in Ballantyne, NC. Growing up playing at Ballantyne Country Club, he found the heart for the game at a young age. After his junior career he ended up going to Appalachian State University where he continued to play in a non-competitive environment.

He started his golf career after college where he got a position working in outside services at Grandfather Mountain Course. Connell enjoys being a true Ohio sports fan, playing golf and enjoying his family boat and jet-ski up on Lake Norman. He has been an instrumental piece of our staff focusing on outside tournaments, junior golf, club repair, merchandising and so much more. Next time you see Connell around the club say hello and happy three years!

Chapman

The Chapman was held on October 5. The Chapman is a fun 2-man modified alternate shot format. Both players hit tee shots and then each hits their partner’s drive with their second shot. From there, the best ball is selected and the players play pure alternate shot until the hole is complete. Even with a postponed event date, the Chapman had a strong showing with 108 players (54 teams) competing.

Golf Instruction

Playing Out of Wet Conditions

We play the course in different conditions almost every day. Wet, dry, windy, sunny, cold. Many of these conditions affect how our body moved. But some affect how the club interacts with the ball.

Wet conditions for example affect what the ball does as it interacts with the club face. Our goal is to create friction, and water reduces that friction. With wedge shots, this causes the ball to spin less, launch higher, and even fly farther than intended.

To combat this, take a less lofted club when chipping and pitching around the greens as well as produce a smaller swing.

Handicaps

You may have read in the mid-month newsletter from Carolinas Golf Association that you now have the ability to self-correct an error in score posting. Should you realize that you posted an incorrect score before midnight of the day posted you can go into Shared Round Summary, or the Stats option, click the arrow on the incorrect score and link to Shared Round Summary. Once there you must delete the incorrect score and post the correct score. You cannot alter the incorrect score. It is important to note that this can only be done before midnight of the date the incorrect was posted because after midnight the incorrect score is officially posted and the only way to correct it is through the Handicap Committee.

Please contact the Handicap Committee with any questions.

Interclub

What a chilly day to end the 2024 season!

We were able to come in 2nd for the overall. Division A competition was tough as usual. I’m looking forward to 2025 when we can take back that interclub trophy!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who was able to play! Your contributions to the team were truly appreciated and we couldn’t have placed how we did without you! Thanks and see you around the Tree!

Solheim Cup

Be on the lookout for the golf genius invitation for the Solheim Cup (our last hurrah of the season) on Thursday November 7th with a team reveal party in the lounge on Wednesday November 6th. Should be a fun team event to celebrate a wonderful season!

We added a new game to our schedule this year: "the ribbon game". It was a fun change of pace from our normal games and the discussions about how much fun we had lasted through lunch and the following week. Although there was some disagreement over the word pumpkin and the picture of a pumpkin, there was no doubt that everyone thoroughly enjoyed playing this new game! Looking forward to new games to pop up in next year's schedule.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BECKY BETTS!!!

She had the perfect shot that resulted in her very first hole in one! North Course #5
