We are in the heat of the summer and Independence Day is right around the corner. Whether you decide to enjoy a round of golf, spend time with family or grill out poolside, the golf professional staff wishes everyone a safe holiday weekend.
Please do your share to maintain the condition of the golf course by filling divots in the fairways and fixing your pitch marks on the greens. Your assistance provides a quick and easy way to improve everyone’s experience at Raintree Country Club. Additionally, please view the recommended divot pattern when practicing. This helps the grass grow in better as we rotate the hitting areas.

Check out this video from Luis DeJesus & Tyler Lucas on how to take divots on the range and the course to keep great looking turf!

Keeping Up with Golf Shop Merchandise!
We would like to thank all our members for their continued support of the Raintree Golf Shop. As we continue to see an increase in membership and rounds of golf, we have seen unprecedented support of all golf shop merchandise. We will be receiving new inventory this month from Foot Joy, Travis Mathew, GFORE, Fairway & Greene, Holderness & Bourne and we will be introducing a new vendor: American Needle Hats! We appreciate all the member support to continue making this year the best we’ve ever had!
The Member-Member 3 n 1
Saturday, June 26 saw 144 players compete over 27 holes in this unique tournament. Two-man teams played 9 holes of Best-Ball; 9 Holes of Captain’s Choice and then finished the day with 9 holes of Modified Alternate Shot. Survival of the fittest? Perhaps. A little sore the next day? You bet! But the tournament was a lot of fun and produced some excellent golf!

Video Tip of the Month:
Here is a great way to spend your time practicing on the driving range.
Make two piles of golf balls, four balls each. The first four-ball set is where you are going to train. You should focus on your fundamentals and work on any swing feel you and your instructor have established. It is good practice to lay alignment sticks down for aim and ball position or use training aides for your swing training. You will use the same club and the same target for all four of these shots. The second four-ball set is where you are going to perform. This is where you need to simulate the golf course as closely as possible. Each shot must be performed with your full pre-shot routine. Each ball will have a different target and you must use a different club. NO RE-DO’S!

Once you have finished this eight-ball set, repeat, and repeat and repeat.

handicap news

Under the World Handicap System (WHS) there are two types of handicaps, Course Handicap and Playing Handicap. Course Handicaps are determined by the formula: Handicap Index X (Slope /113) + CR – Par). This handicap is the most commonly used for normal play in most stroke and match play games and is also used to determine the maximum score on holes. Playing Handicaps are calculated by the formula: Course Handicap X handicap allowance. Handicap allowances are applied based on certain criteria to allow for equity in competitions and guidelines are provided in the handicap manual. At Raintree, allowances are not often applied so the most common handicap used is the Course Handicap.
Please refer to the Handicap Committee any questions on this topic.
