2021 Fall Junior Team Tennis Registration Please RSVP to Reserve your Spot Hi everyone, we are excited to have you sign up for our Junior Team Tennis Team this season. This past Spring Season we had 5 teams signed up for 10U, 12U, 14U (2), and 18U divisions. Our 14U Beginner team this past spring finished with an 8-2 regular season that earned them a spot in the North Carolina Jr. Team Tennis State Tournament. At the tournament we finished 4th place out of the best 11 teams in the State!!! We hope to build on that success for this season and ones to come.
About Junior Team Tennis: For those of you who are not familiar with Junior Team Tennis let me brief you on what Junior Team Tennis is all about. Junior Team Tennis is an avenue for kids ages 6-18 to participate in match play, learn the rules of the game, know where to stand, learn sportsmanship, and develop skills that will help them compete at higher levels of Competition. In Junior Team Tennis Pros and Parents/Volunteers are encouraged to be supportive of the kids participating and promote sportsmanship first and winning second. In JTT Sportsmanship is awarded as we want the kids to become good citizens on and off the court.
Is my Child ready for Junior Team Tennis? This is the most common question I get about Junior Team Tennis. Unlike the tennis tournaments this is an easier avenue to jumpstart into playing matches. In Junior Team Tennis you learn how to keep score and work on rallying skills as you go. Basically, if your son or daughter is between the ages of 6-18 and can start the point with a serve and/or return along with limited rallying skills they can participate in Junior Team Tennis. We have different levels of Junior Team Tennis that vary from Beginner to Advanced so all levels are encouraged to play.
What is the cost of Junior Team Tennis? $22 – For USTA League Fee. All players need to have a junior membership with the USTA (which is now free). To join the USTA you just simply need to go to usta.com and click on membership. Team Fees for the entire season: (If you received your t-shirt in Spring please take off $10) $55 – Member Rate $70 – Nonmember Rate This covers the cost of T-shirts, Balls, End of the Season Party, Prizes, Awards, and Coaching. This fee does not cover Team Practices. The cost for team practices is listed below:
Team Practices: Practices are on Saturday 2:00-3:00 for 10U and 12U - $12/Member or $15/Non-member 3:00-4:00 for 14U and 18U - $12/Member or $15/Non-Member ***Please note the practices are not every Saturday and is not mandatory to attend.
How long is the Season and how many matches will my son/daughter play? The Season will start on March 21 and we will play until the end of May. We will play every Sunday at the same time either at 1:00, 2:00, or 3:00 depending on the division. Typically, there are around 6-8 matches in a season. Your son/daughter is not required to play every Sunday and will not play every Sunday. In a typical season most players will play between 4-5 matches depending on their availability. If you can commit to attending at least 3 matches it will be worth signing up for the team. In the matches your son/daughter will play either singles or doubles.
Important Dates: August 21 – Registration and First Saturday Practice September 1 – Last Day to Register (Check with me if its past deadline) September 12 or 19 – First Match of the Season November 29 – End of the Season Pizza Party
Ages for the Teams: To be on a team for an age range you will need to remain the age of the division you are registered for, for the duration of the season including the state championship. If your child has a birthday before July 18th and they must play up in the older division (i.e. If you are 10 years old and turn 11 on April 15th you should play on a 12 and under team). ******Please
turn in your Registration forms and Payments no later than September 1st. If space allows, I might take forms or players after the deadline.
