EDITOR’S NOTE welcome to RAINE MAGAZINE
This is a very special issue for me because it will be one of our most fashion packed issues. Raine is about celebration. It’s about looking to our dreams and staying true to who we are. It inspires creatives to never give up, for we are here to create and our creations are meant to live far beyond our time. Even though our wants and passions are all unique, we however as creatives should know that we are not alone and that we can seek support and energy from this very entrepreneurial community that shares our same ideals and desires. Volume 28 marks a special moment in Raine’s history. It serves as the last issue before our 10th anniversary. It’s an issue that lives and breathes fashion and style while showcasing variety and beauty in design. This fall issue challenges us to seek our own individual expression and not to fall into the space of the common norm. It sparks curiosity and adventure while staying true to our love for style and luxury. I hope you become immersed and enjoy each and every detailed page. We would love to hear from you on how you enjoyed our inspiring magazine and how you are a catalyst to changing the world!

The ‘birth of the modern world’ in the 1920s included speakeasies, prohibition, the Harlem Renaissance, and the Art Deco movement. The ‘roaring 20s’ was an era defined by reduced inhibitions and a focus on living life in the here and now. You may have been a “zozzled” (drunk), a flapper, or a stylish “Jellybean’ who enjoyed “jag juice” (hard liquor.) Whatever the case, one thing’s for certain; this was a decade for the bona fide rebel, and not the faint of heart. Wood House, originally based in Korea, will soon be creating their home base in New York City. Unsurprisingly, head designer Julian Woodhouse has reflected much of his 1920s New York city inspiration and influence in his current Spring/Summer 2017 collection. From Art Deco designs of geometric prints, to simple and clean lines that reflect a modernist flare, there is an emphasis on classic styling, tailoring, and functionality throughout this collection. Floor length trousers, mandarin collared jackets, and lounge wear adhered to the social rebels of the 1920s. Wood House stayed true to the bold hardware and details, such as zips and buttons. A quirky, yet fun inclusion of eye-catching accessories, such as sandals by Easy & Stranger, hats by Brown Hat, and sunglasses by Muzik Eyewear, enhanced the unique design Wood House is known for. 16

WOOD HOUSE:
The etiquette of a modern day gentleman, once an archaic after thought, has now returned. Think for a moment back to those happy days of the 1950s, your grandfather’s era, where optimization of modernism and a sense of uniformity and conformity pervaded American society. Now imagine adding a twist to modernize that style. Hart Schaffner Marx has partnered with David Hart in a collaborative effort that allows men to immediately become self-aware of their tone and setting in which they find themselves through a newly defined and refined perception of personal style. Hart Schaffner reminds us that style, although a touchy subject from time to time, matters. It mattered when top hats, tailored blazers, and brogues were known as “casual” wear, and it still matters today. This collection pays homage to the late and great Slim Aarons, an American environmental photographer who used socialites, international travel, and celebrities as his muse from the 1950s through the 1980s. Timeless and effortless glamor permeated his work. Aarons coined the catch phrase of photographing “attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.” This is ideal is captured through Hart & Hart’s collection of classic smoking jackets, ascot ties, palm prints, and colored lines. The audience is transported back in time to the ‘mid-century mainstream’ of the 1950s and 60s, reminiscent of frequent trips to the Amalfi Coast, the South of France, or the Maldives. 18
