The set-up, break-down, and clean-up for all facility rentals is the responsibility of the renter. Tables and chairs for indoor rentals will be available upon arrival and are to be returned to their original location upon completion of the rental.

Renter is also expected to clean the facility as follows before departure: sweep and mop floors (indoor facilities only); wipe down tables, and transport trash to the on-site dumpster.

The Etowah River passes gently through the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area with only a couple of easy Class I-II rapids. From River Park Canoe Launch to Kelly Bridge Road take-out, travel is approximately 9.5 miles. Travel time will vary 3-5 hours, depending on water level.

The Parks & Recreation youth swim team in Dawson County is an outsourced program, coordinated and operated by Dawson County Swim Team, whose purpose is to provide a structured summer athletic activity for the children of our community. The DC Swim Team provides opportunities for each participant to develop a positive self image. Opportunities are provided to participate in competitive swimming through venues of dual meets, North Georgia Swim League (NGSL) meets and Divisional/State Meets.

Uniform Sizing:

For those needing a new uniform, please be sure to register for the full-priced activity, which includes a new uniform. Once you have completed registration, you will then sign up for an appointment for your cheerleader to be sized (either by the uniform company rep or by park staff). The sign-up link will be available once the online registration period has opened. The uniform company representative will be present on a select day during the walk-in registration period to provide expert advice on sizes; however, cheerleaders can be measured by park staff at any time during the walk-in registration period.

• Grades: Kindergarten-6th grade (grade level at the start of the season)

• Fee Options:

• $140 (NEW UNIFORM NEEDED) - Fee includes shell, skirt, briefs, and poms

• $50 (USING UNIFORM FROM 2022 season) - Fee does not include any uniform items; participant will be responsible for providing all uniform items. Uniform items are not available to purchase a la carte. If any of your cheerleader’s uniform items do not fit or need replacing, you will need to select the full registration fee option to receive a new set of uniform items.

Participant must reside in Dawson County or attend a public school in Dawson County in order to be eligible to participate.

Dawson County Parks & Recreation offers open play for all pickleball levels. Open play is free of charge for all players and is designed for those who know the basic rules and scoring. Please bring your own balls and paddles.

You will learn the individual movements of Tai Chi Chuan and learn to flow each posture into the next without pause; ensuring that your body is in constant motion. You will get the health benefits from learning proper body structure and movement. You will also be shown the martial aspects of the movements so that they may contain more meaning in your personal practice.

The Blend

A great mix of Cardio, Hand Weights and Relaxation! The Blend is a whole body workout on the lighter side. From pushups to low lunges with weights, crunches to squats and a lot in be tween. Attendees start with pushups on their knees to full plank pushups in a very short time.

Minimum: 3 participants / Maximum: 25 participants. If the minimum requirement is not met, class is subject to cancellation. Full refunds will be issued for cancelled sessions.

Yoga Stretch, Build, Relax

Every class starts with relaxing, breathing and slow warming moves and eases into Sun Salutations. Gradually increasing movement, we begin to lengthen and build each muscle group, using just our body weight and our breath. Coming back down to restore the body to lengthen, stretch and balance. Finally refocusing our minds and bringing us back to center, we end in Final Relaxation with soothing, calming music as the instructor leads you peacefully into relaxing the mind and body.

Welcome aboard!

Dawson Transit is the public transportation service in Dawson County. This service is available to all residents of Dawson County.

Where We Can Take You

Dawson Transit provides transportation to doctor’s offices, grocery stores, pharmacies, parks and places all throughout Dawson County! Transportation service is also available for medical appointments outside of the county.

When We Operate

The hours of service are Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM.

How to Schedule a Ride

Dawson Transit operates on an advanced reservation basis. To schedule a trip, call 706 344-3603 MondayFriday 8:00AM-4:00PM. Please call at least 24 hours prior to your requested trip. Requests for service made the same day will be taken if possible.

ACCESSIBLE SERVICE

Wheelchair-accessible service is available. When you call to schedule your trip, please let us know of any assistance you may need in boarding or disembarking from the vehicle. For the safety of all passengers, our policy requires that wheelchairs be secured to the vehicle.

Persons using respirators or portable oxygen are permitted on vehicles. Service animals accompanying individuals with disabilities are permitted.

The fare for service depends on the distance of your trip. The charge for each one-way trip is:

$2.00 ……within Dawson County

$4.00 ……Cumming & Dahlonega

$6.00 ……Gainesville
