ABOUT RAINBOW RAILROAD Rainbow Railroad is a global charitable organization that helps LGBTQI+ people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics. Since our founding, we’ve helped almost 10,000 LGBTQI+ individuals find safety through emergency relocation, crisis response, cash assistance, and other forms of support.

WHAT IS THE WELCOME CORPS? The Welcome Corps is an opportunity for U.S. residents to create Communities of Care that will privately sponsor LGBTQI+ refugees by connecting them with housing, employment, healthcare, and education resources, helping them to access public benefits programs, establishing a network of friends and mentors, teaching them about American life and culture, understanding their rights and responsibilities as residents, and navigating everyday life. The U.S. government launched the program in 2023 and Rainbow Railroad is one of the program’s implementing partners. We are a Private Sponsor Organization and our role is to mobilize and provide technical support to volunteers who have created Communities of Care to ensure they feel equipped to sponsor LGBTQI+ refugees.
