Thanks for supporting Railway Mission

Michele Ashton is chaplain for the Anglia Route, which takes her from London Liverpool Street Station out to Norfolk, Essex, Suffolk, Anglia and parts of Cambridgeshire, serving C2C, TfL Trains, Greater Anglia, Thameslink, The Elizabeth Line, and even some of TfL’s London Underground on the Central Line. In recent weeks appreciation for the work of Railway Mission has been shown through the generous donations of rail workers in Michele’s area. Railway Mission is able to employ full and part-time chaplains because of the generous giving of rail companies and donations from rail staff and supporters. It’s especially gratifying when a group of rail employees gets together to demonstrate their thanks for the work of our railway chaplains by sowing into our support work. Michele has made herself the face of chaplaincy in her area, and has built a huge amount of goodwill amongst the rail staff she serves over the course of the time she has been involved in the region. Michele says, “I was thrilled to be invited by Andy Fielding from the Distribution and Plant team to join them today as they took a day out to raise donations for their chosen charity, Railway Mission. It was a fantastic day, the weather was super kind, and it was a wonderful opportunity for me to say a personal thank you to a team who work hard to keep me and thousands of others safe. The walking tour was planned well and gave me the opportunity to explore outside of the railway and see London from Sky Gardens.” Members of the Distribution and Plant Team can be seen pictured above with

Michele (with the flowery yellow top in the centre front). Railway Mission is very thankful for their consideration and for making it such a fun day for Michele as they raised funds for our charity. Ipswich MOMs & Signallers Added to this, Michele had the delight of meeting up with some of the Network Rail Mobile Operations Managers in her area, at Ipswich (pictured right), who, along with other members of the signalling teams, also decided to raise funds to support the work of Railway Mission. Michele says, “Network Rail's outer operations team is based at Ipswich's signalling school in the Maltings. A collection was organised by Dave Shannon, Field Service Delivery Manager, with donations received from staff as a thank you to Railway Mission for our valued support.” “I am humbled at how much has been donated by the Ipswich teams of MOMs, Signallers, S&T and the management and I'm so grateful to everyone for their generosity. It's a privilege and a pleasure to be your chaplain.” Mobile Operations Managers and Local Operations Managers, along with Signallers, do a fantastic job on the railways, and we are often in touch with them, especially following rail incidents. They are always appreciative of having chaplains available when they need them, so it’s great to be able to remind everyone of the incredible work they do to keep the railways running,

Thanks to everyone who supports Railway Mission either through our prayer supporters, through those who contribute financially, and those who give chaplains a kind word of appreciation when we meet up.
